No Man’s Sky Giving First Talk at GDC

The annual Game Developers Conference is a week away! And while there are dozens (and dozens) of interesting panel discussions, here’s three sessions that captured our interest.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story visual effects supervisor John Knoll, principal engineer and architect, and digital production supervisor Roger Cordes, from Lucasfilm’s ILMxLab, will discuss how a handful of headshots lead to a fully realized character in the recent film. The crew will discuss the proprietary technology the team made, the challenges and lessons learned by creating a real-time character.

Costume Quest Series Premiering on Amazon in 2018

Amazon is getting a Costume Quest animated series next year, according to the studio behind the project.

The Frederator Studios is behind the project, which will debut sometime in 2018, but there's no word yet on how closely it'll tie in to the games. According to Amazon's official release about the show, Costume Quest will focus on four kids "facing off against the dark forces lurking in the shadows of their sleepy town of Auburn Pines." Sophie Turner Confirms New X-Men Movie Shooting Soon

Filming for the next X-Men film will begin soon, Jean Grey actress Sophie Turner has revealed.

When asked by Hey U Guys on the red carpet at the British Academy Film Awards (see all the BAFTA winners here) about what she has planned next, the X-Men and Game of Thrones star said, "We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men, we've just finished shooting Season 7 of Thrones, and I've got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to Season 8."

Despite the lukewarm reception garnered by X-Men Apocalypse, Turner's statement essentially confirms that 20th Century Fox is moving ahead with the franchise using at least some of the currently established cast.

What Batman Movie Had the Best 1st Weekend Box Office?

The LEGO Batman Movie topped the box office in its opening weekend, but how does this blocky take on the Dark Knight's debut compare to the openings of other Batman outings?

Debuting with $53 million (the weekend's previous $55 million estimates have been updated to the film's actual haul) just north of The LEGO Batman Movie couldn't outperform the opening of its predecessor, The Lego Movie, but the film did fare better than a number of previous Batman movies. In fact, unadjusted for inflation, The LEGO Batman Movie's first weekend is the fourth-highest opening for any Batman movie, topped only by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and two of Christopher Nolan's Batman films. (For more on The LEGO Batman Movie in comparison to other Caped Crusader films, find out what the best reviewed Batman movies are.)

21 Best Horror Movies to Stream on Netflix

Let’s be clear: you do not need to wait until October to watch horror movies. But it’s hard to think of a better time. Halloween is right around the corner, night falls earlier and earlier, and you’ve got all this candy in the house so you might as well eat it while watching something spooky.

Fortunately, Netflix - which doesn’t always have the best horror selection - has boosted their Halloween cred this season by adding a “Halloween Favorites” section, adding some new titles and highlighting several others that don’t get nearly enough attention the rest of the year. Some of these movies are slumber party classics, some of them rank among the scariest movies ever made, and some are relatively new, totally awesome horror films that haven’t officially become cult hits yet… but they will.
