Bungie Outlines Destiny: Age of Triumph Weekly Rituals

Destiny: Age of Triumph kicks off later this month, and Bungie has outlined the weekly rituals that will be part of the game's final live event.

Bungie senior designer Tim Williams revealed that Age of Triumph will bring with it loot boxes called Treasure of Ages during today's developer livestream. These boxes give players to opportunity to acquire any of the event-based items they missed previously, including armor, Ghosts, Sparrow racing emblems and emotes.

New items, including Age of Triumph armor set, ornaments, ships and shaders can also be acquired. Bungie teased a new armor set would be available for each class (which it plans to unveil next week) along with new Legendary weapon ornaments, ships and shaders. Each box includes two guaranteed items and one new item. The Silver Dust kiosk will be updated, allowing players to exchange any Silver Dust currency acquired for Treasure of Ages.

Wrestling Wrap Up: Is Shane the Right WrestleMania Opponent for Styles?

There was a lot of drama with the GMs and Commissioners this week as we get closer and closer to Ultimate Face Punching Extravaganza 33. A lot of violence against one's superiors as both Mick Foley and AJ Styles both "I can't standsk no more'd" their respective brand bosses, the latter event resulting with Shane getting his head rammed through a freakin' car window. And not even a respectable car window. One of those smaller crappy rear passenger windows that kids cover with boogers and Go-Gurt.

Could You Beat Mario With Your Eyes Closed?

“Mario is quite complex,” explains Kevin Satizabal. “It has so many shifting scenes and shifting elements.”

It’s not often that the original Super Mario Brothers is described as “complex.” But video games are naturally perceived very differently by sighted and visually impaired players. Blind since birth, Satizabal — a Marketing and Communications Assistant at the London Royal Society for Blind People — struggled at times with Mario’s level structure, yet still managed to enjoy Nintendo’s perennial side-scrolling platformer in his formative years.

Have you ever tried playing a video game blindfolded? It’s obviously not easy, and is a task that requires more than your average amount of determination and perseverance to succeed. But success doesn’t hinge solely on well-refined mental traits — certain design techniques can help the process. Sound cues, directional prompts, and binaural indicators on the development end are but a few tangible considerations which can assist blind players in enjoying standard video games.

The American Dream Pointed a Gun at Me in VR, and It Was Surprisingly Terrifying

Things that happen in VR tend to be a lot scarier than they are on a TV screen, and I think that’s mostly due an unparalleled sense of invasion of space. If you’re playing Resident Evil 7 on your TV, you have the comfort of whichever familiar setting you’re sitting in, as well as some space between you and the things that happen in-game. If you’re playing in VR there’s no comfort at all, not even the ability to shield your eyes with your hands if you want to, and with that, comes an array of emotional responses that are hard to find anywhere else.

Obviously, Resident Evil 7 is meant to be scary so it accomplishes that easily, but there are an assortment of things that would be fairly tame if I were playing on a TV that dramatically unsettle me when playing in VR. Sometimes it’s just a vast amount of space, sometimes it’s the enormous scale of a generally peaceful creature, but most recently, it was having a gun pointed to my head, and having to lean toward it, in an Australian-made game called The American Dream VR.
