Joe Manganiello Uncertain if He’s Still Deathstroke in The Batman

Actor Joe Manganiello is no longer certain about his role as Deathstroke in Ben Affleck’s Batman movie.

During an interview with Pittsburgh Today Live promoting the new Smurfs movie, Manganiello was briefly questioned about his role as the villain in the upcoming Batman film. Asked if he was playing Deathstroke, Manganiello responded with “Umm. Maybe. We’ll see.”

As Ben Affleck stepped down from directing The Batman, we found that the project was going to be rewritten by screenwriter Chris Terrio.  Manganiello’s uncertainty of his future with the film lines up with potential changes to The Batman’s script.

The 11 Sci-Fi Influences That Made Mass Effect

Mass Effect’s something of a sci-fi gumbo, a universe so big that BioWare has seemingly dropped in a bit of any futuristic property you care to name. The Quarian-Geth conflict? Battlestar Galactica. The Rachni Wars? A touch of Starship Troopers. A.I. banned by traumatised organics? Hello, Dune.

Some references are more explicit than others though. A lifetime of committed nerdery means writers, artists and developers are bound to unconsciously include elements of the things they like. Which is why, for this list, we’re only looking at the influences BioWare has specifically picked out in interviews, books, and in-game. From artistic starting points to the gaming classics it wanted to emulate, this is the sci-fi that made Mass Effect what it is today.

Batman Composer Hans Zimmer on Why He Connected More With Christian Bale’s Version Than Ben Affleck’s

Batman composer Hans Zimmer had a hard time connecting with Ben Affleck's version of the DC superhero.

In an interview with Inverse, Zimmer admitted that it felt jarring to go from composing music for Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy to scoring Batman v Superman, as he felt like he was betraying everything Christian Bale had done with his take on the Dark Knight.

Zimmer spent months trying to come up with something for Ben Affleck to recapture that same connection he had with Bale's Batman, but he ultimately couldn't "quite shake that off." Zimmer finds Bale's performance to be more unresolved and about him witnessing his parents getting killed.

Binding of Isaac’s Manual for Switch Is a Tribute to Zelda on NES

Nintendo Switch game cases are spacious and beg for the inclusion of an instruction manual. The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ on Switch not only takes advantage of those two tabs in every Switch game case, its manual is a loving homage to the instruction booklet included with The Legend of Zelda for the NES.

From a golden cover page to a promise of quality, the manual absolutely nails the look and layout of manuals included with NES games. Even the drawings fit the style of the random art found in manuals of the past.

Take a look at the slideshow below to get a glimpse at this great throwback manual.

Aside from the great instruction manual, it's also a great game. In our Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ review, we gave it a 9.0. It's a great addition to the Switch library, if you can pry yourself away from Breath of the Wild, that is.

7 Characters Who Should Join Guardians of the Galaxy 3

Three years ago, the Guardians of the Galaxy movie took everyone by surprise on its way to becoming one of Marvel Studios’ breakout hits. Few expected this collection of cosmic misfits to resonate with the general public, and yet director James Gunn and the rest of the creative team successfully made it happen alongside an impeccably cast group of performers. And in less than two months, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 may prove to be even more successful than the original.

It’s no surprise that Marvel is already looking ahead at making Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn recently indicated that the second sequel is happening, even though it’s unclear if he’ll return to helm that film. It would also likely be one of the signature movies of Marvel’s Phase 4. But one of the biggest questions about Vol. 3 is who should join the Guardians next? It’s already getting pretty crowded on the Milano, with Mantis, Yondu, and even Nebula hanging out with the team in Vol. 2. We don’t expect everyone from Vol. 2 to stay with the Guardians for the third movie, so there probably will be room for some new additions to the team. The following seven characters are the ones that we want to see, but feel free to share your selections in the comments section too!

Four Ways Spider-Man Could Be Integrated Into Venom

Months before the release of its third Spider-Man franchise, Sony has dated a Venom film for 2018. The initial reports suggest the film won’t have ties to the new Spider-Man, however, who, because of a unique deal between Sony and Marvel, is part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. This would set Venom off as its own franchise, running concurrently with but unrelated to any of the events of the upcoming Spider-Man movies.
