Why You Need to Watch Death Note
Death Note is the kind of show where you try to watch one episode, but end up losing an entire weekend to its exhaustingly-tense cat-and-mouse chase, and you aren’t even mad about it. Despite some poorly-received plot choices in the middle, it’s an intelligently written, smartly paced and consistently engrossing series that’s being made into a live-action film on Netflix on August 25, but you should probably watch the anime first (it's streaming on Netflix and Hulu) anyway, even if you don’t tend to like anime.
For those who’ve never heard of it (minor story spoilers to follow), Death Note is a 2006 anime adaptation of a 2003 manga that follows the story of Light Yagami, a high school student who happens across a supernatural notebook that grants him the ability to kill anyone, any way he likes, just by writing their name in the book. Light, considering himself a vigilante, tries to use the book to ‘cleanse the world of evil’, and effectively plays God, which leads an incredibly skilled detective to try to hunt him down. It’s not easy to find someone who can kill someone with natural causes without even being near them, but the book does have some important rules and caveats, and so the cat-and-mouse chase begins.

Woody Harrelson Reveals His Han Solo Mentor Character
Woody Harrelson has revealed the mysterious character he's playing in the upcoming Han Solo spinoff film.
In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Harrelson said he's playing a criminal and a longtime mentor to Han Solo who goes by the name of Beckett.
"I play a guy named Beckett who's kind of a criminal and mentor to Han," Harrelson said. "That's all I can say."
The actor was reluctant to share more and there is no known character who goes by the name of Beckett and fits that description in the Star Wars universe. However, he does sound similar to Garris Shrike, a bounty hunter who first appeared in the Star Wars Expanded Universe novel The Paradise Snare. Shrike rescued Solo from the streets and raised him as his own.
Check Out This Awesome C-3PO ANA Plane from Japan
Earlier this week, Japanese airliner All Nippon Airways (ANA) introduced a C-3PO-themed airplane, which made its first flight from Haneda to Kagoshima on March 21.
C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels attended the reveal event, where he signed the outer hull of the aircraft. Daniels also spoke a bit about his role as C-3PO over the past four decades.
"I first met George Lucas in 1975, and I told him I did not want to appear in his film, Star Wars," Daniels said. "It was at that time I saw a rather large piece of concept art of C-3PO and R2-D2 in George’s office, which is an image that still remains clear in my mind. The concept art that I saw was actually drawn by a Boeing designer named Ralph McQuarrie, who had started to become an artist in the film industry. I was mesmerized by C-3PO’s face, which McQuarrie had drawn, and it changed my life. Six months later the real C-3PO appeared in front of me, and it has been 41 years since then."
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix Day One Patch Announced
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix will receive a day one patch when it's released in North America and Europe to address problems already patched in the Japanese version of the PS4 collection.
"For NA and EU players, a Day 1 patch will be available at launch to match the JP update. We’ll keep an eye out for additional notes," said a tweet from the official Kingdom Hearts Twitter account. 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix debuts in North America on March 28 and in Europe on March 31. The collection first debuted in Japan on March 9.
Since the Japanese release, players have been reporting bugs and crashes, as well as changes to the game that result from the series' upgrade to a 60 FPS frame rate. A patch came to the Japanese release on March 17, which addressed a bug in Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix affecting combat as a result of the 60 FPS, in addition to several other unlisted issues.
How Iron Fist Leads into The Defenders
Warning: Full spoilers for Marvel's Iron Fist continue below.
Marvel's Iron Fist is the last piece of The Defenders puzzle. The group will come together on Netflix in September, meaning the story of Danny Rand is the last standalone series before The Defenders brings these characters together. Because it's the fourth of four origin series, that puts a little extra pressure is on the shoulders of Iron Fist to align and build upon story pieces from previous Marvel series, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, to put the final groundwork in place for The Defenders.
The first phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has shown Marvel is more than capable of putting down stepping stones from one hero to another before bringing them together. They've done it to a lesser degree in this pre-Defenders era, but Iron Fist did set up and add to a few beats that will lead into The Defenders.
