Quake Champions: Why I’m Sold on the “Quake” Part

Quake Champions is simultaneously a return to timeless FPS action in the style of Quake 3 Arena, and a foray into the precarious and topical genre of Hero Shooters. My time with a preview build of Quake Champions was remarkably fun, in spite of the “Champions” element of the game failing to really click.

Weapon pickups, quad damage, strafe jumping and everything else synonymous with the turn of the century arena shooter celebrates a return to form in Quake Champions. Each of the seven weapons, from the projectile-based rocket launcher to the hit-scanning lighting gun exist with a defined purpose, and no two feel redundant. The three currently implemented maps provide ample variance, verticality, and winding passageways that facilitate Quake’s unconventional and remarkably-quick movement.

This Rocket Racoon Cosplay May as Well be a Giant Raccoon

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is less than a month away, so we thought we'd express some of our excitement by sharing one of the best cosplays from the franchise.

Warren Goodwin is a cosplayer from New Zealand, and he makes one hell of a Rocket Raccoon. Check out the images below:

It took Warren around three months to make the full costume, including days where he'd have to wake up at around 3am just to work on it before heading to his actual job.

The build was first made for a cosplay competition, but now, Warren has a huge focus on attending charity events as Rocket Raccoon, in part because he himself grew up with autism.

After directing both Guardians of the Galaxy and its upcoming sequel, James Gunn has confirmed he's on board to helm the series' third installment.

Gunn spoke incredibly highly of his partnership with Marvel Studios, saying it is "has been the best of my professional career." He also expressed his passion for the characters from Guardians of the Galaxy, adding that his love for Star-Lord, Rocket, Groot and the rest of the crew "goes deeper than you guys can possibly imagine."

"I can't fricking wait to get started," he said of the project, noting that "like in both Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, we will work on creating the story that goes beyond what you expect."
