X-COM Creator Introduces New Strategy Game Phoenix Point
A spiritual successor to the X-COM franchise is coming from developer Snapshot Games Inc.
Phoenix Point is the creation of X-COM veteran Julian Gollop and Gaming Insiders founder David Kaye, and is a turn- and world-based strategy game in which players take on the role of members of the Phoenix Project, a worldwide organization.
Speaking to the game's backstory, Gollop told us the Phoenix Project was formed "shortly after the second world war" as a U.N.-funded, worldwide organization. "It was organized on a sleeper cell basis," he said, "so the idea was that in when the world is in peril, "these cells would come together at specific points all over the world" to deal with the looming crisis.

Everything You Need to Know About Dawn of War 3

Fable Creator Feels ‘Reborn’ Working on New Game, Legacy
Populous and Fable creator Peter Molynuex has shed light on Legacy, the new game he's currently developing at his studio 22cans, saying he feels "reborn" working on the project.
On the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered, Molyneux made it clear he has no plans to leave game development anytime soon. When asked if Legacy might serve as the final project of his career, he said the game's title shouldn't be taken as any sort of indication that his time as a game designer is nearing its end.
"I feel reborn. I am now working as hard on Legacy as I worked on Black & White, as I worked on Populous, as I worked on anything," he said. "Fortunately, I've got my electronic cigarettes, so I don't have to fill up my ash tray with cigarette butts anymore, but I'm eating pizza and I'm drinking Mountain Dew, so I feel reborn."

Additionally, a representative for Amazon confirmed to The Verge their deal with HBO has not expired, saying the titles were mislabeled and the error will be fixed soon.
Super Mario Kart Started Out as an F-Zero Multiplayer Mode
1992's Super Mario Kart was originally conceived as a multiplayer prototype for SNES launch title, F-Zero.
In an interview with Retro Gamer (via GamesRadar), original development team members Shigeru Miyamoto, Hideki Konno, and Tadashi Sugiyama explain how the fast-paced single-player title F-Zero transitioned into the iconic Super Mario Kart
"Our original plan didn’t include Mario or karts," they explain. "The game’s roots lie in one of the launch titles for the SNES: F-Zero. The game was designed for single-player gameplay because of our focus on getting across the sense of speed and the size of the courses.
Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Launches Without Multiplayer
CI Games has announced that its newest title, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 will launch without any of the planned multiplayer aspects.
In a statement to Eurogamer, the studio explains that this decision was made so as "not to dilute any potential from the single player experience."
Today marks both the review embargo and day of release for the game, and CI Games has not mentioned previously that multiplayer would not be available at launch.
"We have chosen to release the multiplayer update (that will be free for our players) after launch (the third quarter of 2017)," continues CI' statement.
