First Assassin’s Creed 2017 Screenshot Seemingly Leaked
What purports to be the first screenshot of the next game in the Assassin's Creed series has apparently leaked.
Posted on Reddit (and confirmed as legitimate by "three separate Eurogamer sources"), the image would suggest a return to using controllable boats - a popular feature in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and it's spin-off, Assassin's Creed: Rogue:
While the screenshot doesn't explicitly confirm the Egyptian setting we heard rumored last year, the aesthetic does seem to fit, and the quest text on the left adds substantial amounts of fuel to that fire: "Follow Shadya to Khenut's villa." Khenut was indeed an Egyptian queen, who ruled between 2375-2345 BC.
Untangling Alien’s Complicated Timeline
Feeling confused after Prometheus? Not sure where Alien: Covenant sits in the Alien timeline? Fear not, for we have gone forth armed with flamethrowers, motion trackers and that mysterious black goo to untangle the canonical timeline of the Alien film series. Sorry folks, that means no Alien v Predator.
Here's the chronological breakdown of the Alien series, from Prometheus to Alien: Resurrection and everything in between. Mild spoilers for the synopsis of Alien: Covenant and major spoilers for all other films in the slideshow ahead:
Alien: Covenant is directed by Ridley Scott and will hit theaters May 19. Here are four things you need to know about the movie, and here's why it's going to be the goriest Alien yet.
Alien: Covenant Sequel Will Begin Shooting “Within 14 Months”
We already knew that Ridley Scott wants to make more Alien films after Covenant - but we now know he intends to begin shooting the first of them by next year.
Speaking to IGN, Scott said that, "we're writing
now, as we speak. I'll be filming that within 14 months."
When asked if he planned to resolve unanswered questions about the Alien universe in future movies, Scott explained that the story has been left "wide open" by design: "That's why I'm doing it, so you're asking these questions."
Scott has previously mentioned a title, "Awakening" when talking about four possible future Alien films, and intimated that it could take place between Prometheus and Covenant. However, in this interview, he refers to Neill Blomkamp's now-canned Alien 5 as Awakening.
Harmonix on Competing Against Activision and Guitar Hero
After creating the Guitar Hero franchise and subsequently leaving it behind when parting ways with Activision, Harmonix found itself in an "emotionally complicated" position when it launched Rock Band as a competitor.
On the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered, we asked Harmonix co-founder Alex Rigopulos how he felt about the incredible success Activision enjoyed with Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock in light of the fact that it was built off the foundation Harmonix worked so hard to establish before leaving the franchise.
"I wouldn't say we were angry about it," he replied. "It was emotionally complicated because we were attached to the Guitar Hero brand. We had poured our hearts and souls into crafting that brand identity and we loved it."
Ghost Shares New Details on 2017’s Need for Speed
Electronic Arts will release a new entry in the Need for Speed franchise later this year, and developer Ghost Games has shared a few details on what fans can expect from the next installment.
According to a post on the official Need for Speed blog, Ghost is building on the foundation laid by the 2015 reboot and taking into account fan feedback, including complaints regarding the previous installment's always online requirement. As such, the new Need for Speed game will allow players to enjoy the single-player experience entirely offline and freely pause the action.
Ghost also confirmed that customization will be back and "play as strong a role as ever," and that cop chases will most definitely be a part of the fun. Plus, those looking for the freedom to ride around the world as they so please will be able to do just that, as this new entry will provide "you the space in which to do the things you want."
Make Custom RPG Campaigns in Divinity: Original Sin 2
The developer of Divinity: Original Sin II has revealed new details on the game's upcoming Game Master mode.
Game masters "can choose from a wide array of campaign maps or upload their own images," according to developer Larian Studios. There are also "pre-built settings and character models" included to help assemble encounters with hostile and friendly NPCs alike.
The new mode was developed as one of Divinity: Original Sin II's Kickstarter stretch goals and let's players use the "combat and roleplaying systems" of Divinity to create their own tabletop RPG campaigns.
The mode also includes an "overhauled modding tool" game masters can take advantage of to build "battle arenas, provincial villages, haunted ruins," and more.

Kylo Ren’s Last Jedi TIE Fighter Accidentally Revealed
Kylo Ren's personal ship for Star Wars: The Last Jedi - which appears to be a new TIE Fighter variant - has been inadvertently revealed.
What follows could be considered light spoilers, so do turn away if you want a ship-shaped surprise.
Uploaded and removed by Liechtenstein hobby shop Mikado (and spotted by Making Star Wars) the image of the ship came from a pre-order showing for upcoming Last Jedi Hot Wheels toys.
So far seemingly referred to only as Kylo Ren's starfighter, the ship looks as though it crosses over a TIE Interceptor's pointed wings and Darth Vader's angled TIE Advanced. Although it's not clear from this image, the ship's cockpit is reportedly "pill-shaped".
Nintendo Switch eShop Now Lets You Store Credit Card Info
Nintendo has added an option to store credit / debit card information on the Switch eShop.
The often-requested change comes through the eShop's back end, meaning no system update is required, and was noticed overnight by Nintendo Everything.
There’s also a feature for parents or anyone looking for an extra layer of security. Should you decide to store your card info, you can also password-protect purchases, meaning a passkey is needed every time someone attempts to make a transaction.
Nintendo has slowly been improving the eShop since the Switch launch, adding a best-seller's chart last month.
