Little Witch Academia’s Netflix Release Date Announced

Netflix told IGN that the first 13 episodes of Studio Trigger's Little Witch Academia anime series are coming to the streaming service on June 30.

Little Witch Academia began airing in Japan on January 9 and has a total of 25 episodes. Netflix did not say when the remaining 12 episodes would be added to the streaming service.

The series stars Akko, Sucy, and Lotte, three witches in training at Luna Nova Magical Academy and follows their adventures. Netflix already has the two Little Witch Academia short films (Little Witch Academia and Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade) available for streaming.

Netflix also acquired the upcoming Godzilla anime movie and is releasing its Death Note original live-action movie later this summer.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War First Hands-on Impressions

We spent a lot of time talking about Shadow of War last month. We covered everything from the return of Monolith’s Nemesis System, to the new enemies, skills, and gear during our Shadow of War IGN First, and so much more. And even with our deep dives into the many systems that will power Shadow of War when it launches August 22, there’s no substitute for getting your hands dirty with good old-fashioned gameplay.

Fortunately, for the 30 minutes I spent sieging an Orc-ruled fortress with varying success, I’m happy to say Shadow of War feels like an improvement on its predecessor in every way.

Video Game Doc, King of Kong Is Being Made Into a Musical

10 years after its release, acclaimed video game documentary The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters is being adapted into a stage musical by original director Seth Gordon.

The movie - which focused on the real-life acrimony between two competitive Donkey Kong players, Billy Mitchell and Steve Wiebe - has long been rumoured to be turned into a more conventional biopic, but the reality seems to be a little less expected:

Speaking to IGN at a junket for his new Baywatch reboot, Gordon responded to a question about a new adaptation by saying: "Yeah, some scripts have been written - we're actually working on a musical right now, which is pretty great."

Xbox: Developers Can Choose Higher Framerates for Scorpio Versions, Even in Multiplayer

Microsoft has clarified how it will approach the power disparity between Xbox One and its upcoming Scorpio upgrade when it comes to frame rate and resolution.

As noted by GameSpot, Xbox corporate vice president Mike Ybarra sparked conversation by tweeting: "Developers are free to choose how they use the power of Project Scorpio for games. We have no requirements limiting framerate or fidelity."

This led to a question regarding parity of framerates between the same game playing on Xbox One and Scorpio, particularly in multiplayer (where differing framerates can make a definable alteration in quality of play). Ybarra made clear that, if they wanted, developers could allow for different framerates between consoles, even in multiplayer.

What Made Forza the ‘Perfect Partner for Porsche’

Way back in August 2011, one of the very first articles I wrote for IGN concerned the surprise absence of Porsche in Forza Motorsport 4 (which, up to that point, had been a staple of the series). “This kills me,” lamented Turn 10 creative director Dan Greenawalt at the time, before going on to explain the situation.

The particular reason for this has been discussed at length both here and elsewhere over the past decade-and-change, but the short story is: it’s no longer an issue, and hasn’t been since the turn of the new year.

WWE Backlash Results and Reaction

No House of Horrors match at Backlash unfortunately, but WWE Champion Randy Orton may be facing his own version of hell in the form of a hostile Chicago crowd all pissed off about his recent comments regarding indie wrestling.

Is challenger Jinder Mahal, the Maharaja, heading in as a default fan favorite? Hell, people just might cheer him because they want something new and don't like Orton as champ. I know that's why I'm backing him.

Resident Evil Film Franchise Getting a Reboot

The Resident Evil movie franchise is getting a reboot.

At the Cannes Film Festival, Martin Moszkowicz, chairman of the board at Constantin Film, confirmed to Variety that a reboot is in the works. There's currently no word on who will star or direct the project, and Constantin Film is also remaining tight-lipped about story details.

The prior series, which spanned six movies, starred Milla Jovovich as Alice. Considering the final installment, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, concluded Alice's story when it released last year, it's unlikely that Jovovich will be involved in the reboot.

George Romero’s Next Film Is a Race Car Zombie Movie

Night of the Living Dead filmmaker George A. Romero's next project is a race car zombie movie.

Romero co-wrote the film, titled George A. Romero Presents: Road of the Dead, with Matt Birman, who's also directing. The movie will make its way to Frontières, the Fantasia International Film Festival’s annual film co-production market in Montreal, which takes place from July 20 to July 23, according to Indiewire.

Birman was a second unit director on Romero's last three films, including Survival of the Dead, Diary of the Dead and Land of the Dead. He first pitched the idea of Road of the Dead almost 10 years ago, which Birman says takes heavy inspiration from Ben-Hur, Rollerball and The Road Warrior. The story follows zombie prisoners racing cars for the wealthy in a modern-day Coliseum on a remote island.
