Respawn Announces Free Titanfall 2 DLC

Respawn has detailed the offerings coming in its next Titanfall 2 DLC drop on May 30, 2017.

First up for grabs — and perhaps, importantly, up for free, too — is a new Titan, Monarch, a mid-range Vanguard class mech that can "upgrade itself on the battlefield through her unique Upgrade Core." Keep her ticking over long enough, and it'll eventually reach its "final form."

Beyond Good and Evil 2 Won’t Be at E3 2017

Beyond Good & Evil 2 won't be at E3 2017 but will likely appear sometime later this year, if recent comments from series creator Michel Ancel are any indication.

When asked on Instagram if footage of the game might be shown at E3, Ancel replied, "Mhhh, not sure that E3 would be the best place to showcase BG&E2 but we're working on the game so sometime this year, you should hear about it!"

IGN has reached out to Ubisoft for comment and will provide an update in the event we receive a response.

A new Beyond Good & Evil game has been in the works for quite some time. Word of the project resurfaced last year when Ancel posted several images of concept art. Shortly thereafter, he said the game entered pre-production, and Ubisoft followed that up with official confirmation that the title is in development at its Montpellier studio.

How Wonder Woman Is Like Donner’s Superman, Batman Begins

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of speaking with Matthew Jensen, the cinematographer for Wonder Woman. Jensen, whose previous credits include Chronicle, Fantastic Four, Filth and episodes of Game of Thrones, True Blood and Ray Donovan, spoke in glowing terms of star Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins. He also described the film as something intended to be on par with Richard Donner's iconic Superman and Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins.

He and I also discussed some nagging questions I, as a layperson, have always had about cinematography. And the subject of the Fantastic Four remake, which he also worked on, came up as well. Read on for our full chat...

Cinematographer Matthew Jenkins (left) talks about the aspirations of Wonder Woman and what it was like making this ambitious superhero movie. Cinematographer Matthew Jensen (left) talks about the aspirations of Wonder Woman and what it was like making this ambitious superhero movie.

X-Men Spinoff The New Mutants Will Be a Horror Movie

The upcoming X-Men spinoff film The New Mutants won't be your typical comic book movie.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, The New Mutants director Josh Boone revealed the film will go in an unusual horror direction and be unlike anything in the X-Men movie franchise so far. "We are making a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe," Boone said. "There are no costumes. There are no supervillains. We’re trying to do something very, very different."

It appears a lot of inspiration for the film will come from artist Bill Sienkiewicz's work on The New Mutants comics that started from issue #18, which Boone described as a "surreal and impressionistic X-Men series" that feels "like Stephen King meets John Hughes."

T.J. Miller on Why Deadpool 2 Will Be Just as Funny as the Original

Comedian and actor T.J. Miller has been getting more in demand thanks to his role on HBO’s hit comedy Silicon Valley and last year’s Deadpool, in which he played bartender and Deadpool’s “buddy,” Weasel. He also voices an Emoji named Gene in the upcoming animated The Emoji Movie, which actually makes more sense once you’ve seen some of it (as we have).

We spoke with Miller about the Sony Pictures Animation movie earlier this week, and while talking about his work in the “animated space,” he also mentioned how he’s rewatching the original Deadpool to prepare to reprise his role as Weasel in the sequel, which he’ll start shooting in August and September.

During our interview, he also told us about one possible storyline for the sequel that will team him with a memorable character from the first movie. “I shoot two chunks, and I haven’t heard much about the plot, but there’s one storyline with Karan Soni, who plays the cab driver and was in Office Christmas Party with me," he said. "There’s a pretty funny plotline between him and Weasel, but I don’t know if it’s going to make it into the movie. Even some of the stuff that they’ve just brought up to me, because I haven’t read the script—I think they’re still working on it—it’s already making me laugh, so I’m excited, but it’s tough, man. That movie is a hard act to follow.”

Microsoft Streaming Service Renamed, New Features Added

Microsoft has rebranded its Beam streaming service as Mixer.

Promising that "the core experience remains unchanged", the update - which aims to boost social streaming and make it easier to match players and viewers without the "traditional 10-20 second latency commonly seen on other platforms" - also includes several community-requested features, including a "special edition Mixer 4K broadcast" for viewers wishing to watch Microsoft's upcoming E3 briefing via their 4K displays.

According to co-founder Matt Salsamendi, the Minecraft team has been "experimenting with the interactivity that Mixer offers", in the hope of allowing viewers to actively participate in streams. The idea is to add official game integration that allows stream viewers to change the in-game weather, or even to spawn zombies at will.

Netflix Cancels The Get Down

Baz Luhrmann's The Get Down has been cancelled by Netflix after one season.

Variety reports the series didn't attract the level of viewership Netflix has come to expect from its original series. In its first 31 days, Part 1 of The Get Down's debut season drew 3.2 million US viewers in the 18-49 demographic. Its troubled production and high production cost - reportedly over $120 million (making it Netflix's second most-expensive series behind The Crown) - also factored into the decision, according to the report.

Luhrmann took to Facebook to express his feelings on the cancellation, saying "...the spirit of The Get Down, and the story it has begun to tell... it has its own life. One that lives on today and will continue to be told somewhere, somehow...." The filmmaker said various suggestions have been made on how to continue the story, including a stage show.

Get Even: Horror-Shooter Delayed After Terror Attack

Bandai Namco has delayed the release of its horror-themed shooter, Get Even.

The delay follows Monday night's terrorist attack in Manchester, UK, pushing back the release by one month to June 23, 2017.

The publisher provided a statement on the company's official Twitter feed:

Get Even aims to fuse horror, shooter and adventure games in unpredictable ways - and its approach certainly intrigued us when we went hands-on with it earlier this year.
