It's rare that a game gets a release date before it gets its first trailer, but at last Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has both. We got our first, brief look at gameplay just this morning.

The trailer itself was light on actual details, but we can glean more from the game's Steam listing, which dropped alongside the trailer. This should be exciting news for Steam fans, as Call of Duty has been skipping the PC storefront since Black Ops 4, preferring to stick to Activision Blizzard's own launcher.

Per official details, Modern Warfare 2 will feature the return of Task Force 141 as they head out on missions across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, which include offshore sieges with underwater combat, air assaults, and stealth missions. It also is said to include a Special Ops tactical co-op mode, and a multiplayer mode that Activision promises will boast a "massive amount of free post-launch content" including new maps, modes, and events.

As for Activision's multi-game-spanning battle royale, Warzone, that's planned to be upgraded to 2.0 soon after Modern Warfare 2's launch to take the new gameplay, features, and tech into account in the free-to-play experience, as well as add its content, systems, and more. However, Warzone will remain a separate experience and continue existing player progression as it has before.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 of this year, though reports have indicated we may not see Call of Duty continue as an annual franchise following that. We have more details about Modern Warfare 2 available in preview form, both for the single-player and multiplayer content.

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon will now star two-time Academy Award winner Sir Anthony Hopkins as a *checks notes* "sentient battle robot".

New details released by Netflix confirm that the 84-year-old actor will be joining the upcoming sci-fi epic in a rather unexpected role.

“Two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins is joining the cast of Zack Snyder’s new sci-fi epic,” they revealed. “He’ll be playing exactly the role you’d expect from such a renowned thespian: the voice of Jimmy, a sentient battle robot who once defended a slain king.”

That's right – Sir Anthony Hopkins is a sentient battle bot. He’s an interesting choice, too – his voice certainly lends a bit of gravitas to the mysterious battle robot, but quite how a mechanized Welshman fits into the sider scheme of things remains to be seen.

Rebel Moon began life as a Star Wars project that Snyder pitched to Lucasfilm before Disney bought the company back in 2012. The movie was planned as a follow-up to the events of Return of the Jedi but while it never happened, Snyder since repurposed his ideas for a new Netflix sci-fi flick. Given the Star Wars connection, it sounds as though the Hopkinator is more of a K-2SO or IG-88 than a C-3PO… but we’re not exactly certain what direction Hopkins’ character will take.

The ambitious project began filming on April 19, 2022, with Snyder giving us our first glimpse of the upcoming sci-fi flick in the process. Although Rebel Moon won’t be part of the galaxy far, far away, Snyder nevertheless has plans, saying that he wants to make “a romantic sci-fi film on a scale that is just frankly as big as you can make a movie.”

A behind-the-scenes teaser has been released for Jordan Peele's mysterious new movie Nope, giving fans fresh insight into the making of the "cinematic event."

Universal Pictures shared an exclusive look at Nope in a two-minute video that shows the whole team assembling on set to shoot the movie. There are snippets of scenes and performances as the production crew gets the cameras rolling on what Jordan Peele describes as the most "ambitious cinematic event" that he's planned so far in his career.

This video comes shortly after a batch of new character posters dropped for Nope as promotion ramps up for the film ahead of its release in theaters next month. The one-sheets tease a sky-high threat as cast members are pictured looking up towards the stars, with Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Michael Wincott, and Brandon Perea in the mix.

The first trailer for Nope hinted at a fiendish force threatening our main characters, and one previous poster for the film pointed towards a potential alien threat, showing a horse and other objects floating in the night sky. Peele has since confirmed that the movie will feature some sort of alien invasion, but he hasn't given much more away than that.

Along with writing and directing the picture, Peele is attached as a producer alongside Ian Cooper of Monkeypaw Productions. Universal Pictures is distributing Nope, marking Peele's third collaboration with the studio following his directorial debut, Get Out, and subsequent follow-up, Us, which had the best opening for an original horror film at the box office.

343 Industries has revealed that Halo Infinite will receive a campaign co-op test in July, granting select players an opportunity to get a feel for how the mode functions before its public release later this year.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the official Halo account unveiled that a campaign co-op "flight" (343's fancy way of saying "playtest") will become available exclusively to Halo Insiders, the developer's community program for early testing and feedback. The tweet points out that you'll need an up-to-date profile for a chance to participate in the test.

The long-awaited Halo Infinite co-op campaign was last mentioned when 343 shared the game's roadmap in May, which showed that the feature would be available for online players in August. Meanwhile, split-screen campaign co-op is expected to launch before the end of the year.

According to the roadmap, the option to replay missions is also expected in August, while 343 has targeted a September open beta for the fan-favorite Forge mode. Season 2: Lone Wolves kicked off in May, albeit with a bumpy start, and will run until November 7.

Though all of the multiplayer aspects of Halo Infinite haven't rolled out as smoothly as we'd all prefer, we still felt that Halo Infinite's creative campaign was a highlight of the franchise. In our review, we praised the game for how it "brings out the best in Master Chief's unique and satisfying combat style while leveraging old ideas to create memorable new moments."

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes will tell a completely new story in the Fire Emblem: Three Houses universe, and you can get a jumpstart on experiencing the new tale today. Nintendo has released a new demo for Three Hopes that's available now, and your progress will carry over into the full game.

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for its upcoming action-thriller, Fall, dropping only in theaters only on August 12, 2022.

Here's how Lionsgate describes Fall: "For best friends Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) and Hunter (Virginia Gardner), life is all about conquering fears and pushing limits. But after they climb 2,000 feet to the top of a remote, abandoned radio tower, they find themselves stranded with no way down. Now Becky and Hunter’s expert climbing skills will be put to the ultimate test as they desperately fight to survive the elements, a lack of supplies, and vertigo-inducing heights."
