There was also new footage shown at the Marvel Studios panel. It begins with Nick Fury landing and walking out of a spacehip. Maria Hill then reads Fury the Riot Act for abandoning Earth, but Fury pushes back. Don Cheadle's Rhodey is also shown meeting with Fury.

Blade: Mahershala Ali’s MCU Version Gets a Release Date

Marvel has offered a release date at last for Mahershala Ali's take on Blade, and it looks like it's making 2023 after all.

Revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, Blade will debut in theatres on November 3, 2023. The MCU Blade was announced at Comic-Con 2019 – with the unexpected (and very welcome) casting of Mahershala Ali, who'd previously played villain Cottonmouth in Netflix's Luke Cage series.

Blade won't be a part of the current Phase 4, is being directed by Bassam Tariq, and written by Watchmen's Stacy Osei-Kuffour. We already knew that Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods) and Aaron Pierre (Krypton) would be a part of the movie, too.

This news about Blade dropped during a very enlightening panel at San Diego Comic Con where we learned tons about Marvel's plans for the finale of Phase 4, as well as both Phases 5 and 6, now called The Multiverse Saga. Blade nestles between The Marvels on July 28, 2023, Ironheart and Daredevil: Born Again in the fall of 2023, and Agatha: Coven of Chaos in Winter of 2023/2024, as part of Phase 5. Phase 5 opens on February 17, 2023, with Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania, and concludes on July 26, 2024, with Thunderbolts.

All of these phases will be known as The Multiverse Saga.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be the final piece of the Phase 4 puzzle and Marvel's panel revealed the first trailer for the much-anticipated film. Revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Phase 5 will begin on February 17, 2023, with Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania and will end on July 26, 2024, with Thunderbolts. In between, the following MCU films and TV series will air;

Phase 4 of the MCU has so far included 6 movies (Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder) and seven Disney+ series (WandaVision, The Falcon & the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel).

Following Love and Thunder's release, we've said that Phase 4 needs a goal – not least because of quite how many loose ends there are across the franchise at this point.

There's still a lot of Phase 4 to come, as well. On the movies side, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, and Fantastic Four are still scheduled. On Disney+, we're expecting She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Ironheart, Armor Wars, a Wakanda series, and two specials to come. And that's not taking into account the animated series in the works.

Marvel Teases Massive Avengers Finale and Jonathan Hickman’s Next Series | Comic-Con 2022

Marvel's Next Big Thing panel at Comic-Con included several major reveals for upcoming 2022 and 2023 projects, including the impending climax of Jason Aaron's Avengers saga and the next big project for House of X's Jonathan Hickman.

Marvel didn't reveal what Hickman has been working on since exiting the X-Men line in 2021, but they did reveal he'll be reuniting with Inferno artist Valerio Schiti for... something. Here's a teaser:

This teaser suggests Hickman may be delving into the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe, perhaps building on certain elements introduced in Powers of X involving the evolution of artificial intelligences across the galaxy.

As for Aaron's Avengers, that series will enter its final phase, "Avengers Assemble," starting in November 2022. Aaron is teaming with The Ultimates artist Bryan Hitch for a one-shot special called Avengers Assemble Alpha #1, which introduces a conflict uniting the present-day Avengers, the prehistoric Avengers of 1,000,000 BC and the futuristic heroes of Avengers Forever. From there, the storyline will play out in the pages of the monthly Avengers and Avengers Forever comics.

“Four years of Avengers stories. Threads from really every major series I've worked on throughout my last decade and a half at Marvel, from Ghost Rider to Thor. It all leads to this. The biggest Avengers story I could possibly imagine," teased Aaron in Marvel's press release. "Featuring a cavalcade of characters from across creation. And I'm so deeply thrilled and honored that it all kicks off with an oversized Alpha issue that's being drawn by the legendary Bryan Hitch, who I'm getting to work with here for the very first time. Avengers Assemble. Say the words like a prayer. It's the only thing that can save you.”

Marvel is also teasing a new incoming creative team on Fantastic Four, as current writer Dan Slott will be wrapping up his run with the Reckoning War crossover. The new team will make their debut in November.

A few other items of interest were revealed at the panel:

  • Silver Surfer: Black artist Tradd Moore is writing and drawing a very psychedelic Doctor Strange miniseries called Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise.
  • Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is returning as a new monthly series, this time written by Jordan Ifueko and drawn by Alba Glez.
  • Iron Man #25 marks the end of writer Christopher Cantwell's run. That issue is also the 650th issue of Iron Man, so Marvel will be celebrating with an oversized finale and several additional stories highlighting the past and future of Tony Stark.

In other Comic-Con news, Marvel is reviving X-Treme X-Men with the original creative team, and Batman and Spawn will cross paths once more.

There's tons of news for all your favorite shows, films, games, and more coming out of San Diego Comic-Con 2022, and we've got the full schedule to guide you through the weekend of panels, announcements, trailers, and surprises.

Mythic Quest Returns for a Third Season This Fall

Today at San Diego Comic Con we learned that Apple TV+'s series about a game development studio, Mythic Quest, will get its third season this fall. A new trailer was shown at the event.

At the end of season 2, the studio almost fell apart with Rachel (Ashly Burch) and Dana (Imani Hakim) resigning and Ian (Rob McElhenney) and Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) also resigning but forming a new company since they feel they can't continue with Mythic Quest. Season three will examine their newly-formed company, GrimPop Studios, as David (David Hornsby) takes over leadership of Mythic Quest and Jo (Jessie Ennis) steps in as his assistant.

Oddly, we won't see F. Murray Abraham return as writer C.W. Longbottom in the third season - for reasons Lionsgate declined to comment on.

We've known Mythic Quest had been renewed for a third season since last year, at which point it was also renewed for a fouth season at an as-yet-unknown date.
