The Suicide Squad director James Gunn isn’t quite done with DC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the filmmaker has been secretly working on another DC movie for Warner Bros Discovery.

Gunn previously directed The Suicide Squad, essentially a soft reboot of DC’s Suicide Squad, and also created the recent smash hit superhero show, Peacemaker.

Now, Gunn is reportedly in talks with producer Peter Safran for a new, mystery project. It’s said that Gunn will be focussing on the second season of Peacemaker first but will eventually take on another DC property.

Whether or not it’s also linked to The Suicide Squad remains to be seen, but according to insiders, “DC is definitely in play.” Unfortunately, there’s no indication of which heroes or superhero teams are in Gunn’s sights.

Of course, this is quite the coup for Warner Bros. Discovery following the recent unease about where DC goes from here. The cancellation of Batgirl and Warner’s desire to find its own DC Kevin Feige has cast a long and troubling shadow over the studio.

Considering that Gunn is also in charge of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, it would be easy to see his future anywhere but Warner Bros. Discovery.

Thankfully, it looks as though he’s all-in on Peacemaker’s upcoming second season, and with another DC project in the works, it looks as though he’ll be bringing DC heroes and villains to our screens for some time yet.

IGN’s review of The Suicide Squad gave it 9/10 and said: “James Gunn absolutely kills it with The Suicide Squad. The film is a bloody, chaotic ride from start to finish that finally does justice to Task Force X. It’s endlessly shocking and funny, and its showcase of F-list DC villains is nothing short of brilliant.”

Don’t look back… Twisters is about to head into production. According to Deadline, the upcoming Twister sequel is currently meeting with directors as Universal and Amblin hope for a spring start.

The original disaster flick was released way back in 1996 and starred Bill Paxton, Helen Hunt, and Cary Elwes as storm-chasers on the trail of a severe tornado outbreak in Oklahoma.

Frank Marshall is set to produce the upcoming sequel.

Twister was received well by audiences and critics, so perhaps a sequel was inevitable.

IGN’s Twister review gave it 7/10 and said: “Twister is probably known far and wide as the movie that jump-started the disaster movie genre. If nothing else, it certainly pioneered nearly every aspect you see in disaster movies today. Heavy-duty special effects to portray the environmental menace du jour, a paper-thin plot to link all the big disaster scenes together, the good scientists vs. the evil scientists, etc. etc. etc. Hell, it even pioneered the copy-cat movie released near the same time: Tornado on Fox, starring Bruce Campbell. We might have moved on to Global Warming and Alien Invasion in the last several years, but nothing says ‘disaster nostalgia’ like a hurricane tossing livestock through your living room window.”

Of course, a Twister reboot has been in the works since 2020 but little is known about the film.

However, it’s said that filmmaker Steven Spielberg was pretty impressed by the Twisters script from The Revenant writer Mark L. Smith, resulting in the sequel being fast-tracked.

Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski was said to be directing the film but was forced to pull out after committing to the upcoming Brad Pitt Formula One movie at Apple. As it stands, the film is still lacking a director, but there are apparently several names in the mix to take over.

Dan Trachtenberg, who helmed 10 Cloverfield Lane, is up for consideration alongside Free Solo duo Jimmy Chin & Elizabeth Chai Vaserhelyi. Missing Link and Kubo director Travis Knight is also in the mix along with “one or two others”.

Universal and Warner Bros. reportedly hope to bring back Helen Hunt for the sequel, with a drama that “focuses on the daughter she had with the character played by the late Bill Paxton”. The idea is that Hunt’s daughter has “caught the storm chasing bug” of her parents.

Rihanna might drop her first track in years for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

According to New York Times journalist Kyle Buchanan, the singer-songwriter, who has been on hiatus since at least 2018, is working on a track for the upcoming Black Panther sequel.

“Rumors are flying and I can add to them,” he said. “I've been hearing for weeks that Rihanna is recording the end-credits song for BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER. How do you follow up a classic like ‘All the Stars’? By snagging Rihanna's first big song in years.”

Over the last few days, rumors have begun to circulate that Rihanna is working on two new songs for Wakanda Forever.

Now, it looks as though she may be penning the end credits song.

“If nothing else, this adds a significant new Oscar contender to an original-song race that already includes big names like Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Billie Eilish,” added Buchanan.

At the moment, there’s not even a hint of the song in public, with only the recent trailers giving us an earful of Tems covering the Bob Marley classic, No Woman No Cry. But with Rihanna set to take center stage at the Superbowl halftime show coming up, it seems like a great time to launch a new song… not to mention one that will tie into a Marvel movie.

The original Black Panther features the hit song All the Stars by Kendrick Lamar and SZA – a top ten hit in 2018 that received a Best Song nomination at the Oscars.

IGN’s review of Black Panther gave it 9/10 and said: “Black Panther delivers the goods as an adventure film, a political statement, and a cultural celebration. It shakes off a sluggish start thanks to a memorable cast of characters going up against Marvel’s best-realized villain in almost a decade. Some of the vibrance is drained by cartoonish visual effects that endanger the very human feel of the story, but the emotional weight of its themes and the cast’s compelling performances ultimately keep the film on track. Overall Black Panther is an exciting step forward for the MCU. Long live the king!”

Capcom will be releasing a bevy new information on its remake of Resident Evil 4 in a showcase set for later this week. Previously teased for October, Capcom's Resident Evil showcase will be taking place Thursday at 3pm PT.

The showcase, which was announced back in September, will provide "the latest updates, trailers, and more for the Resident Evil series." Both Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village are highlighted on the showcase's official site.

First revealed back in June, relatively little is known about Capcom's Resident Evil 4 remake. The showcase should provide a deeper look at the game that has thus far only been shown in a teaser trailer. Resident Evil Village, meanwhile, has a major story expansion launching at the end of the month.

Netflix is making transferring your profile if you, ahem, want to do something wild like start your own subscription maybe?... easier.

The streaming company announced that it will be testing out a Profile Transfer feature that lets people keep their personalized recommendations, viewing history, Lists, saved games, and other settings if they start their own membership.

The move is meant to make it easier for folks who want their own Netflix account to keep their settings. It’s also a not-so-subtle move from Netflix to encourage people to stop sharing accounts, something the company has said is a goal.

The new feature will begin rolling out to users today and subscribers will be notified by email when Profile Transfer becomes available.

To begin a profile transfer, there will be a “Transfer Profile” option when you hover over a profile icon on the homepage. From there, instructions will guide users on how to get about decoupling profiles from one another.

Netflix has been making moves to shore up subscriptions after financial results earlier results indicated slowing revenue and growth. Netflix recently unveiled its cheaper ad-supported tier, which gives users access to the Netflix library at a lower cost with ads playing before and during shows and movies.

Electronic Arts will shut down online services for several games next year, including Mirror’s Edge, NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, Gatling Gears, and Shank 2.

First spotted by Trueachievements, the specific date for the server shutdowns for these games is January 19, 2023. There are two Achievements that will be affected by server closure in NBA Jam: On Fire Edition and they are Arena Noob and Arena Vet, which requires players to earn one and ten Arena medals, respectively. Mirror’s Edge, Gatling Gears, and Shank 2 don’t have any Achievements that require online access, so unlocking them after the shutdowns will be possible.

EA is also shutting down more online servers this year, including ones for several Command & Conquer games on November 9, as well as Onrush on November 30. EA recently updated its list of service updates to contain:

Other than EA, other companies have also shut down servers for old games, such as Ubisoft with its older Assassin’s Creed games earlier this month.

The most recognizable of these games, Mirror’s Edge, was first released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2008. It came to PC in 2009. A reboot of the game, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, launched in 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Unfortunately, there haven’t been any words about new entries in the franchise. Last year, EA France posted something about Mirror’s Edge, possibly hinting at a new game, but later clarified that it wasn’t a tease for anything.
