Rockstar Confirms GTA 6 Leak, Says Development Will Not Be Affected

Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games has confirmed that the GTA 6 leaks that appeared online yesterday, September 18, are real, but development will not be affected as a result.

Rockstar published a statement to Twitter (below), saying the "early development footage" was illegally taken from its systems following a network intrusion and its disappointed to have its new game shared for the first time this way.

"We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorised third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto," the statement reads.

"We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way. Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations.

"We will update everyone again soon and, of course, will properly introduce you to this next game when it is ready. We want to thank everyone for their ongoing support through this situation."

Close to 100 different videos of the game were shared online anonymously showing robberies, gunplay, fully voiced conversations, and more. The footage all but confirms the rumours that GTA 6 will feature male and female protagonists and a Vice City setting.

While Rockstar has promised more information soon, there's no telling as to when the developer will have a full reveal for the game as, just like its eventual launch, GTA 6 will only be shown when its ready. It was only announced this year, of course, but as it's been almost a decade since GTA 5 was released, fans are eager for more.

Diablo 4 Joins GTA 6 as Early Footage Leaks Online

Grand Theft Auto 6 isn't the only highly anticipated game to leak in the last few days as footage from an early version of Diablo 4 has now appeared online.

As reported by PC Gamer, Reddit user iV1rus0 spotted two videos uploaded anonymously to a file sharing website, one containing five minutes of Diablo 4 footage and the other 38 minutes.

It's unclear at what stage of development the footage is from, but given that several models within the game world are untextured, it is clearly far from a finished product.

A lot of the game does appear to be functional, however, and the videos show what appears to be a Barbarian character exploring the world and battling enemies. Blizzard hasn't yet released a statement regarding the leak but IGN has reached out to the developer for comment.

Diablo 4 is expected to be released in 2023 and Blizzard has been fairly vocal about its development progress, releasing quarterly updates on what players can expect from the action RPG. While it will only include five classes at launch, the developer has already confirmed that Diablo 4 will receive years of DLC.

Diablo's leak appeared around the same time as dozens of videos of what seems to be GTA 6 also appeared online, showing robberies, gunplay, fully voiced conversations, and more.

Elden Ring: The Board Game Is Coming to Kickstarter

Elden Ring is getting a board game adaptation, thanks to a collaboration between Bandai Namco and Steamforged Games. Bandai Namco, the publisher of Elden Ring, and board game developer Steamforged previously worked together on a Dark Souls board game, and Steamforged has also created adaptations of Horizon, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and more.

According to Steamforged, the board game's Kickstarter campaign will launch very soon. We don't know quite yet exactly how the board game will play, but it will support between 1 and 4 Tarnished players visiting iconic locations of Elden Ring's giant world, The Lands Between.

Players will also face off against enemies and bosses from the game, with "dice-free combat, requiring players to strategise and adapt their plans during each encounter". The announcement said players will have to deal with foes including a "lowly Godrick Soldier or the Grafted King himself."

Back in 2018, Steamforged Games' Dark Souls board game reached its Kickstarter funding goal in just three minutes. We'll have to wait and see if Elden Ring can break that record, given how ridiculously fast the game itself has sold this year.

This isn't the only adaptation of FromSoftware's smash hit we've seen recently. Earlier this month, Elden Ring got an official manga with a comedic slant on the Tarnished and The Lands Between.

Elden Ring has easily been the most-discussed game of 2022. We awarded it a 10 in our review, and Elden Ring also tops our lists of both the best PlayStation 5 games and the best Xbox Series X|S games. Elden Ring also became a Twitch phenomenon thanks in part to the iconic player, Let Me Solo Her.

Andor Showrunner Said His Mandate Was to Completely Avoid Fan-Service

Star Wars: Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy wasn’t too bothered about pleasing the fans.

During an interview with IGN, the 66-year-old filmmaker revealed that he was more concerned about telling a good story.

“We didn’t want to do anything that was fan service,” he explained. “We never wanted to have anything… the mandate in the very beginning was that it would be as absolutely non-cynical as it could possibly be, that the show would just be real and honest.”

Star Wars: Andor tells the story of Cassian Andor – the rebel intelligence officer we first met in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

It’s essentially a tale of one man’s journey to find out where he fits into a world that’s struggling with Imperial occupation and all the oppression that comes with it. Aside from Andor himself, the focus is on the ordinary people living under Imperial rule – giving a voice to the oppressed in the galaxy far, far away.

But that doesn’t mean there won’t be the occasional cameo.

“We will be introducing people along the way,” he added. “I don’t think it’s any secret that Forest Whitaker is in the show… Saw Gerrera is in the show. There will be some other people. But when we bring them, we bring them because we need them and because there’s really some protein there, there’s something for them to really do.”

It’s no secret that Rebel Alliance leader Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) returns in the series.

When it comes to Saw Gerrera, it’s obvious why Gilroy chose to lean on the legendary resistance fighter. We first met Gerrera in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and he later appeared in Rogue One, played by Forest Whitaker, as well as several episodes of Star Wars Rebels.

Gerrera is considered by Star Wars producer Dave Filoni to be “the first rebel”.

In a story charting the rise of the rebellion in the years before its attack on the original Death Star, Gerrera is perhaps an obvious choice. But don’t expect those cameos to be purely at the service of the fans.

“This was a fresh canvas,” explained Gilroy. “Let’s go down on the street.”

If you ask me, Gilroy does just that. From the very first episode, Star Wars: Andor, gives us a glimpse of what life is like down on the streets, for the ordinary folk kept under the watchful eye of the ever-present Empire.

How Andor and Gerrera will make a difference to them remains to be seen.

Star Wars: Andor stars Diego Luna as Cassian Andor alongside Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Forest Whitaker, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Fiona Shaw, and Kyle Soller.

Resident Evil Village’s Shadows of Rose DLC Will ‘Conclude the Winters Family Saga’

Resident Evil Village's story DLC arrives on October 28, and we're now learning that Shadows of Rose's roughly four-hours of content will wrap up the Winters family's major role in the Resident Evil series.

Spoiler Warning: This story contains spoilers for Resident Evil Village.

Speaking to IGN Japan at Tokyo Game Show, Director Kento Kinoshita said Capcom is "creating the Shadows of Rose story to conclude the Winters family saga." This means that wherever Resident Evil goes for the next main entry will likely introduce a new set of faces, or return to characters we haven't seen in some time.

As for what fans can expect from future RE entries, Producer Masachika Kawata just laughed after saying they could "absolutely not" share any of their future plans.

The Winters family consists of Ethan Winters, who is the primary protaganist of Resident Evil VII and Village, as well as his wife, Mia, and their daughter, Rose. In Resident Evil Village's post-credits scene, we see that Rose is now a teenager, and is working with Chris Redfield. There was also a tease that Ethan is still alive at the end of the game, so it seems the upcoming DLC will provide answers on that front as well.

Kawata and Kinoshita also spoke about the new third-person mode coming to Resident Evil Village's Gold Edition, saying they wanted fans to look at the mode and wonder "did they make this in third-person from the beginning?"

"That took about as much effort as creating a new game," Kawata said. "Even the same game can be a very different experience when played in third-person."

Kinoshita also spoke to the work involved in the third-person mode, pointing out details that make it clear that Village's third-person gameplay should stand up to other entries in the series.

"You know, we felt we had to make something as good or better than Resident Evil RE: 2 and RE: 3," Kinoshita said. "Compared to the previous games in the series, Resident Evil Village has an exceptionally large variety of player actions. You can guard, you can move while crouching, and there is a lot of examining objects. We made thorough adjustments to ensure that those unique animations would look completely connected, and that it would be playable at a good tempo."
