Xbox Game Pass ‘Friends & Family’ Logo Leak Teases a Bright Future of Sharing

A leak of a potential logo for the upcoming Xbox Game Pass family plan has seemingly leaked and it looks to confirm that Microsoft is choosing to focus on branding this new subscription as the "Friends & Family" plan.

As reported by The Verge, Aggiornamenti Lumia, who previously leaked Skull & Bones' release date and Halo Infinite's campaign release date, discovered the image that hints at a bright future for sharing in the world of Xbox.

This logo is very much in-line with Microsoft's current Xbox Insider test in Colombia and Ireland that allows users to share their Xbox Game Pass Ultimate benefits with up to four people in the country where they live. It's important to note there is no restriction on sharing these benefits with immediate family members, which very much gives weight to the friends part of "Friends & Family."

Xbox Game Pass for Console and PC is currently $9.99/month, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - which offers all the benefits of the cheaper tier and Xbox Live Gold, access to Xbox Cloud Gaming, and more - costs $14.99/month. There is no word as of yet how much this potential "Friends & Family" plan would cost.

The first report of the long-awaited Xbox Game Pass family plan was shared in March 2022 and it said that this higher tier of Xbox Game Pass will allow up to five other players in the same country as the main account holder to join the subscription and utilize all the benefits.

For more on Xbox Game Pass, see which games joined the service this month alongside Ghost Recon Wildlands, Turbo Golf Racing, and Two Point Campus.

Twisted Metal TV Series Has Wrapped Filming of Its First Season

Peacock's Twisted Metal TV series has officially wrapped filming of its first season, and the team celebrated by eating ice cream that was handed out of the back of Sweet Tooth's truck.

The news was shared by Twisted Metal showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith, who also wrote a few words and included a picture of a Twisted Metal ice sculpture to commemorate the milestone.

"That's a wrap on season one," Smith wrote. "The cast and crew of Twisted Metal was something special. Even with lightning delays, extreme heat, and cars that wouldn’t do as they’re told, everyone worked as hard as they could to make sure Twisted Metal kicked as much as possible.

"The last day of shooting felt like the last day of camp, with lots of laughs, a few tears, and ice cream being handed out the back of Sweet Tooth’s truck. We all cannot wait for you to see this insane thing we spent our summer shooting. Now, to post!"

The Twisted Metal TV series was announced in May 2019 and it was later revealed that Anthony Mackie would star in the video game adaptation as an amnesiac, post-apocalyptic outsider tasked with delivering a mysterious package across the wasteland.

Since then, Will Arnett has joined the cast as the voice of Sweet Tooth alongside Neve Campbell's Raven, Stephanie Beatriz's Quiet, Thomas Haden Church's Agent Stone, and The Eric Andre Show director Kitao Sakurai.

While nothing has been confirmed, there have been reports that have said a Twisted Metal revival may also be in the works with PlayStation first-party studio FireSprite. For those unfamiliar, FireSprite is currently developing the PlayStation VR 2 title Horizon Call of the Mountain.

The Invitation and Its $7 Million in Ticket Sales Top a Quiet Domestic Weekend Box Office

The Invitation and its $7 million in ticket sales topped a quiet domestic weekend box office that was the weakest since the COVID-19 pandemic was keeping people at home in May 2021.

As reported by Variety, the Saw film Spiral was the winning film in May 2021 and it only garnered $4.5 million. The Invitation only managed to earn a bit more than that and was part of a wider domestic weekend box office that totaled $52.7 million in ticket sales.

The coming weeks look to also be relatively quiet at the movies, as some of the big hitters left in the next couple of months consist of September 23's Don't Worry Darling, October 14's Halloween Ends, and October 21's Black Adam.

As for The Invitation, the film only cost $10 million to produce and, while it only added another $1.6 million overseas, it should be able to at least recoup the cost.

In our The Invitation review, we said that it "represents everything that makes for a middle-of-the-road vampire experience, but doesn’t deserve to be wholly written off."

Bullet Train placed second with $5.6 million, bringing its domestic total to $78 million and global tally to $173.4 million. Idris Elba's Beast followed for a third-place finish with $4.7 million and Top Gun: Maverick continued its reign at the theaters with $4.75 million. Rounding out the top five was Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero with $4.45 million, a 78% decline from last weekend.

George Miller's Three Thousand Years of Longing was one of the only other new films this weekend and it only managed to earn $2.87 million despite its $60 million production budget. John Boyega's Breaking also disappointed at the theaters by bringing in just $1.022 million.

Batman: Caped Crusader Isn’t Dead, Reportedly Drawing Interest From Apple, Hulu, and Netflix

While Bruce Timm, Matt Reeves, and J.J. Abrams' Batman: Caped Crusader won't be coming to HBO Max, the animated series is reportedly very much alive and drawing interest from Apple, Hulu, Netflix, and more.

As reported by THR, Batman: Caped Crusader was one of six animated titled that was pulled from HBO Max's upcoming slate and will no longer be produced by the company. It was stated that these shows were not necessarily canceled, but instead would be shopped to other studios.

The other projects - Merry Little Batman, The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Toons Movie, Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Toons Musical, Did I Do That to the Holidays: A Steve Urkel Story and The Amazing World of Gumball: The Movie - are all in "various stages of production," and the decision to not put them on HBO Max is "not a quality issue, but an economic and strategic issue."

According to THR's sources, "it is believed that the various Warners divisions making the show and movies will make more money on the titles by selling them to other outlets than having them on Warners’ own streamer."

Batman: Caped Crusader is definitely one of the most high-profile projects of the bunch, as it looks to be taking inspiration from Batman: The Animated Series.

This shift is but another chapter in the fallout following the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, which has already seen Batgirl's cancellation, 36 shows removed from HBO Max, and over 200 episodes of Sesame Street taken down.
