Horizon Call of the Mountain Announced Exclusively for PSVR 2
During Sony's CES 2022 press conference, the company announced new information from its PlayStation division. This includes new information on the PSVR 2 as well as a new Horizon VR game being developed exclusively for the next-gen headset.
Horizon Call of the Mountain is a new game co-developed by Guerrilla and Firesprite, a UK game developer primarily focused on VR games and recently acquired by Sony.
This will be an original game built specifically for the PSVR 2 and according to the PS Blog post will allow players "to go deeper in the world of Horizon."
While no release date was shared, the YouTube description did share some additional insight on the game, noting that Horizon Call of the Mountain will "embrace a new level of immersion in a unique experience, designed to push hardware technology, innovation, and gameplay."
While details are sparse, Horizon Call of the Mountain will likely utilize the many new features announced for the PSVR 2 headset. This includes new, 4K HDR visuals and 11-degree field of view with a brand new OLED display, inside-out tracking using integrated cameras in the VR headset, and a new Sense Technology that combines eye tracking, headset feedback, and 3D Audio. The PSVR 2 also includes a built-in motor within the headset that gives the wearer physical feedback.
Firesprite hit the ground running as a PlayStation Studios brand, putting up job listings for new employees to work on an ambitious AAA Narrative Adventure. And while Firesprite could be planning multiple projects, at least one of those is a VR game set in Guerrilla's Horizon universe.
The announcement coincides with the upcoming release of Horizon: Forbidden West coming to PS4 and PS5 in a little over a month.

Uncharted Movie: Brand New Extended Clip Revealed
It’s shaping up to be a big year for Sony Pictures and to kick things off for 2022, Sony revealed a new 2 and a half minute clip from the upcoming Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland at CES 2022.
The extended Uncharted clip is from the cargo plane scene that has been featured prominently in the trailers. Holland’s Nathan Drake and Mark Whalberg’s Sully are on the back of a cargo hauler captured by Tati Gabrielle’s Braddock.
Things don’t go quite as planned however and now everyone has to fight aboard a plane with an open cargo door while thousands of feet in the air. Check out the official clip above.
The action-packed scene is a popular one that Sony has been using in various Uncharted trailers. The scene appears to be directly inspired by a mission from Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, despite the Uncharted movie being a prequel following a young Nathan Drake.
In the movie, Holland will play a much younger Drake who meets his friend and mentor Victor “Sully” Sullivan for the first time on a treasure hunt that somehow involves Drake’s brother, Sam. The film’s villain will be played by Antonio Banderas, and Sophia Ali will play another Drake ally, Chloe Frazer.
The Uncharted clip was revealed during Sony’s CES 2022 press conference to showcase the company’s entertainment offerings. PlayStation boss Jim Ryan later appeared to confirm details for the next-gen PSVR 2 headset and newly named Sense controllers as well as a new VR game, Horizon Call of the Mountain.

Sony Confirms its Next VR Headset is Called ‘PSVR 2′
During its CES 2022 press conference, Sony shared new details on its upcoming successor to the PSVR, confirming that the PSVR 2 is the official name of the next-gen head-mounted display.
During the press conference, Sony dropped a lot of new information on the highly anticipated headset. This includes the name of the controllers, officially called the Sense Controllers, which will offer things such as haptic feedback, a trademark feature available in the DualSense controller.
The latest PS Blog post notes that the PSVR 2 will feature an OLED display with a 2000 x 2040 per eye panel resolution. The headset will also support 90Hz and 120Hz, with a field of view of approximately 110 degrees.
Sony also notes that the PVSR 2 will include 4 cameras on the headset and a controller-tracking IR camera for per eye tracking. "Your movements and the direction you look at are reflected in-game without the need for an external camera," Sony notes in the blog post.
In addition to new information on the PSVR 2, Sony also announced one of the first new games confirmed to run on the next-gen headset: Horizon Call of the Mountain, which is being co-developed by Guerrilla Games and Firesprite Games – the latter of which was acquired by PlayStation last September. No additional details were made available Call of the Mountian as of yet, but Sony says the game is "being built specifically for PSVR2 and will open the doors for players to go deeper into the world of Horizon."
While Sony did not reveal when the PSVR 2 will be available, rumors suggest the company is targeting a Holiday 2022 release.

‘Kevin Feige Knows What He’s Doing With the MCU,’ Longtime X-Men Producer Says
Marvel fans are anxiously waiting for the X-Men to play a larger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and some fans are still wondering if the MCU will bring back any X-Men characters from Fox's series of X-Men movies, like Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.
In an interview with IGN for his upcoming film The 355, director and longtime X-Men producer Simon Kinberg said he trusts Feige to make the right decision on bringing the X-Men, old or new, to the MCU.
"The honest answer is, I have no idea," Kinberg said when asked if we could see some old X-Men faces pop up in the MCU. "And the other answer is, Kevin [Feige] knows what he is doing with the MCU. I would argue he's the greatest producer in the history of cinema. Truly. I mean, if you look at it pound for pound in terms of quality and in terms of obviously commercial success, there's no question the latter is true. So I don't know."
Kinberg did however go on to say he can't imagine anyone but Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine.
"I love those actors. I love them as human beings, and I love them as the characters," Kinberg said. "So obviously, there's a part of me that would be incredibly nostalgic and would be excited to see them. And certainly, I can't imagine another person playing Wolverine, but I also couldn't imagine another person playing James Bond. And I think that there's an aspect of some of these characters where it's like, there are a lot of great Hamlets over time. And I think even Hugh felt that with the end of Logan."
Kinberg started his X-Men career as a writer on X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past. He went on to produce every X-Men movie since, including Deadpool 1 & 2. Kinberg made his directorial debut with X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
Jackman last donned the adamantium claws in 2017's Logan, which was a sendoff film for the character. In 2020, Jackman said he was on board with the MCU rebooting Wolverine with a different actor. "Somebody else will pick it up and run with it," Jackman said. "It’s too good of a character not to."
While the X-Men aren't set to make their feature MCU debut anytime soon, Feige has previously said it's been a "fun exercise" figuring out how to add the Fantastic Four and X-Men to the MCU. For now, it's still a big year ahead for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. To see all the upcoming projects, check out our roundup on what to expect from Marvel in 2022.

Cobra Kai Creators Have Plans for at Least Six Seasons
Cobra Kai fans can rest easy knowing the creators want to make at least two more seasons of the show. With season 4 wrapped, and season 5 already confirmed, Cobra Kai's creators are thinking about their endgame plan.
Speaking to Collider, creator and Executive Producer Josh Heald said the team is still writing with plans past season 5, but characters and storylines that happen naturally during production can alter the timeline.
"It’s changed at times, but it also hasn’t," Heald said. "We still have an endgame plan. We’re still writing beyond Season 5. But it’s been fun to bring in those new characters and storylines and let them lead the way sometimes.”
Show creator Jon Hurwitz added they've, "always viewed it as at least six" seasons, but they're still figuring out the exact length to stick the landing.
"There are characters and storylines that we've considered that, from the beginning, we would have said, 'Okay, that's a season,' and that storyline ended up being an episode or two. And then there's the opposite of that where you say, 'Okay, this is a season,' and now we're going to extend that into multiple seasons," Hurwitz says. "So we've always looked back at our original plan with open eyes[.]"
Cobra Kai continues The Karate Kid saga, following original film protagonist and antagonist Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence decades after the events of the original movie, as Lawrence reopens the Cobra Kai Dojo and starts teaching karate.
The series originally premiered on YouTube’s abandoned streaming service, YouTube Red. Netflix became the new home for the show for season 3, but season 4 is the first season Netflix has produced. Netflix already renewed Cobra Kai for a fifth season, making the announcement last August, months before season 4 even debuted.
Cobra Kai's fourth season just hit Netflix on December 31, and it continues the show's solid run. In our Cobra Kai season 4 review, we said, "A different kind of hokeyness is evident in Season 4, but it’s met by more complex emotional journeys and unexpected team-ups that will leave fans counting down the days until Season 5."

Killer Instinct Pro Series Arcade Is Arcade1Up’s First Full-Sized Cabinet
If your home arcade is lacking a classic fighting game cabinet, you're in luck. At-home arcade machine maker Arcade1Up has revealed its first full-sized arcade cabinet as part of its CES 2022 announcements, featuring Rare's classic fighting game, Killer Instinct.
The machines tout a larger 19-inch screen, as opposed to the 17-inch display in Arcade1Up's other offerings. The machine will launch this summer, and you can take a look for yourself below.
In addition to the larger screen, Arcade1Up's Pro Series machines also have upgraded buttons and joysticks, improved speakers and speaker grills, and cosmetic features like chrome trim and light-up coin slots. The company says Killer Instinct is just the first of its planned Pro Series line.
Killer Instinct is a 1-on-1 fighting game series developed by Rare, and originally released in arcades in 1994. The original also game to SNES and Gameboy in the 90s, and it most recently came to Xbox One in 2013 alongside Microsoft Studios' 2013 reboot of the series.
This cabinet comes with the arcade versions of Killer Instinct 1 and 2, as well as three versions of Battletoads: arcade, 8-bit, and 16-bit. Plus, the cabinet supports online multiplayer with built-in Wifi.
Arcade1Up was founded just a few years ago in 2018, and the company says it has already sold nearly 3 million arcade machines. Beyond the Killer Instinct cabinet, several other cabinets are coming this year, including cabinets for Pac-Mania, Mortal Kombat, and Centipede. The company's previous offerings include a 3/4 version of the Killer Instinct cabinet, Turtles in Time, Street Fighter 2, The Simpsons, and more.
