Sony Is Reportedly Investing in Devolver Digital
Sony is reportedly investing in Devolver Digital, the indie publisher behind the likes of Hotline Miami, Inscryption, and Death’s Door.
According to a report from GamesIndustry.biz, Sony is set to make a 5% investment in the company. This follows the announcement that Devolver Digital has been valued at $950 million after being floated on AIM, a sub-market of the London Stock Exchange.
The GamesIndustry.biz report notes that the European law firm that advised Devolver, Fieldfisher, noted that the company has received a “significant strategy investment from a key industry player.” The report then states that such a key industry player is apparently Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Devolver Digital has two headquarters; one in Austin, Texas and another in London, UK. This new move onto the stock exchange has provided the company with $50 million in gross proceeds, which are set to be used to expand the company.
Devolver started back in 2009, and rose to prominence with games such as Hotline Miami and Shadow Warrior. It is now one of the most notable publishers of indie games, having this year published game-of-the-year contender Inscryption, Loop Hero, and Death's Door. Early next year it will release Weird West, the new game from the founder of Arkane Studios.

Rust Armorer’s Lawyers Say Fatal Live Round Could Have Been Left as ‘Sabotage’
A lawyer for armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was in charge of the firearms used on the Rust movie set, has suggested that someone may have deliberately put a live round into the gun which killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
“We know there was a live round in a box of dummy rounds that shouldn’t have been there,” said lawyer Jason Bowles in an interview with Today.
“We have people who had left the set, who had walked out because they were disgruntled. We have a time frame between 11am and 1pm, approximately, that day, in which the firearms at times were unattended, so there was opportunity to tamper with this scene.”
Bowles claims that his client had used ammunition on the set of Rust from a box of bullets which were labelled as dummy rounds, but he believes a third party may have added live rounds to this supply.
“We’re afraid that could have been what happened here, that somebody intended to sabotage this set with a live round intentionally placed in a box of dummies,” Bowles said on ABC television’s Good Morning America.
“We’re not saying anybody had any intent there was going to be a tragedy of homicide,” he added, “but they wanted to do something to cause a safety incident on set. That’s what we believe happened.”
Despite these new claims, Rust Movie Productions has said it is investigating the incident and had no official complaints about safety on the set. Local authorities are investigating the incident, and no charges have been filed as yet.
Asked if he thought a crew member could be responsible for adding live rounds to the dummy box, Bowles said: “I think you can’t rule anybody out at this point.”
Before the fatal shooting, several camera operators quit the film in protest of what they claim were long hours and objectionable working conditions.
Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed on October 21 when a gun held by actor and producer Alec Baldwin, fired a live round. Baldwin had been advised that the weapon was “cold” – a term used in the industry meaning it was safe to use. Since the incident, further details have come to light about the shooting.
Bowles says that Gutierrez-Reed checked the gun before giving it to assistant director, Dave Halls. She reportedly spun the cylinder, checking each of the six bullets which she believed were dummy rounds. Halls then took the weapon inside the church where Baldwin was rehearsing a scene.
Authorities in Santa Fe are continuing to investigate the fatal incident.

Switch Sells Another 8.3 Million, but Nintendo Reduces Annual Target
Nintendo’s latest financial results have revealed that the company sold 8.3 million Switch consoles over the past six months, bringing the Switch’s lifetime sales to close to 93 million.
In Nintendo’s financial report for the six months ended September 30, 2021, the company announced 8.3 million Switch hardware sales, with 6.45 million of those being standard Switches and 1.82 million being the Switch Lite. While sales are down year-on-year for the console, the spike provided in 2020 by Animal Crossing: New Horizons was always going to be tough to follow.
The six-month period saw operating profit drop 24.5%, dropping to 219.9 billion yen ($1.9 billion) from the 291.4 billion yen ($2.5 billion) taken in during the same six months in 2020. Net sales also decreased, dropping 18.9% to 624.5 billion yen ($5.4 billion).
Alongside this drop, Nintendo announced that it has cut its annual Switch shipment forecast from 25.5 million units to 24 million units, noting the effects of the global semiconductor shortage. However, the company does expect to see higher success in the near future thanks to the Switch OLED, Metroid Dread, and upcoming Pokémon games Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl and Legends: Arceus.
The additional 8.3 million sales brings the Switch up to 92.87 million sales. That means it is closing in on Nintendo’s best seller, the Wii, which achieved 101.63 million sales. The Switch has already eclipsed Nintendo’s third best selling console, the NES, which achieved 61.91 million sales.
In software, the Switch has sold 681 million games to date. The system’s best-selling game is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, with 38.74 million copies sold. Unsurprisingly after its popularity in 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons comes in at number 2 with 34.85 million copies sold. Super Mash Bros. Ultimate grabs the final podium position with 25.71 million sales.
In more from Nintendo, the Switch N64 controllers are seemingly sold out until 2022, players are reporting issues with the Expansion Pack games for Switch Online, and a hacker called Bowser has pled guilty to piracy charges.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars Latest Update Adds N64 Controller Support for Super Mario 64
While Super Mario 64 may be available as part of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, those who have purchased the new Switch N64 Controller from Nintendo are now able to use it for the version in Super Mario 3D All-Stars.
Using the N64 controller for Super Mario 3D All-Stars' Super Mario 64 is made possible by the game's Version 1.1.1 update, which is available now. This allows players to "play this title using the same controls as found in the original Nintendo 64 release."
Adding N64 controller support is not the first time Super Mario 3D All-Stars has added a new control scheme for one of its games, as Super Mario Sunshine is now playable with GameCube controllers as well.
Nintendo has a tendency to add new ways to play to some of its older titles, as it also added Nintendo Labo support for such games as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The Nintendo Switch N64 Controller, which costs $49.99 USD, is only available to those who are subscribed to any tier of Nintendo Switch Online. Unfortunately for those who wish to try out Super Mario 64 as it was intended, these controllers appear to be out of stock until 2022.
Speaking of things you can't get, it's also currently impossible to purchase Super Mario 3D All-Stars on the Switch eShop as Nintendo removed it on March 31, 2021 for some reason.

Gal Gadot Will Be the Evil Queen in Disney’s Snow White Live-Action Movie
Gal Gadot will reportedly play the Evil Queen in Disney's upcoming movie adaptation of Snow White.
Deadline reports that Disney always wanted Gadot for the role, and a deal was finalized this week after scheduling was worked out. The movie is expected to film in 2022.
Gadot will join West Side Story and Shazam! 2 actress Rachel Zegler, who has been cast as Snow White.
Deadline says Disney's new Snow White movie will feature an "expanded" story with different music than the classic Snow White movie from the '30s. New music has been written by The Greatest Showman songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Gadot is currently filming the thriller movie Heart of Stone and is also developing a Cleopatra movie, according to Deadline.
The actress can be seen alongside Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds in Red Notice, which is now playing in theaters. Her next movie will be Disney's Death on the Nile, which opens in theaters in February 2022.
But don't worry DC fans, it's also been confirmed that Gadot will reprise Wonder Woman for her third solo movie.
Disney's next live-action remake with a release date is The Little Mermaid, which hits theaters on May 26, 2023. Disney has also wrapped filming on a live-action remake of Pinocchio and a Peter Pan & Wendy movie. Those two movies are set for a debut on Disney+ and it's possible they will be released sometime in 2022.
Disney also announced a follow-up to their recent movie remake of The Lion King that will focus on Mufasa.

There will be Group Stretching at the main plaza, the option to change the exterior of your home, a way to add ABDs (Animal Crossing's ATMs), storage sheds, and permanent ladders to your island, and so much more.

It can also be accessed by those who are subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. This adds a whole new archipelago that is home to Paradise Planning, a company that has a mission to build the dream vacation homes of villagers around the world.
You will be able to help design these homes and learn new skills to make something truly special. There will also be various facilities on the main island that you can design, including a school, hospital, restaurant, and more.

Matt Smith’s Star Wars Role Was Going to Be a ‘Transformative Star Wars Story Detail’
Matt Smith has shed some light on his Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker character, which was ultimately cut from the movie before the actor got to film any scenes.
In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Smith said his character was kicked out of the script and he wasn't needed for the movie.
"We were close to me being in it but then it just never quite happened," Smith said. "I think the thing they were thinking of me for eventually, the part became obsolete and they didn't need it and so I never got to be in Star Wars."
Remember those reports that Matt Smith was going to be in THE RISE OF SKYWALKER? He told me his role was a big deal, representing “a big shift in the history of the [STAR WARS] franchise.”

WHO WAS HE GOING TO PLAY?!
Full video chat at https://t.co/e84WokCDhq pic.twitter.com/JGKiwPSba9
When asked by the interviewer if the rumors that Smith was playing Palpatine's son are any true, Smith couldn't say but, with a smile, promised that the role would've been big.
"I could not possibly say [if it was Palpatine's son] but it was a pretty groovy thing," Smith said. "It was a pretty groovy part and concept like a big story detail like a transformative Star Wars story detail but it never quite got over the line."
Smith said he had some discussions with the filmmakers regarding what his character would wear, but it sounds like his character never got much farther than that. The actor said he never even got to wear a costume.
When Smith started to conjecture if he would be able to show up in a later Star Wars project, the video stuttered and Smith's answer was lost.
"Well, maybe I can come back," Smith said. "You never know, I mean..."
The interviewer joked that it was a horrible time for the audio to drop and Smith blamed his poor internet connection. He never finished his answer and began talking about his role in the upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff.
An upcoming Star Wars novel that takes place between Episode VI and Episode VII will shed light on Exogol, which is the planet that Palpatine was hiding away on as was revealed in Episode IX.
J.J. Abrams, who directed Episode IX, recently talked about the importance of having a plan when embarking on a project.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Modders Went and Made Their Own Undead Nightmare
After another Halloween has come and gone with no official Undead Nightmare DLC for Red Dead Redemption II, it's up to the modding community to save the day.
A Red Dead II mod was uploaded to Nexus Mods on Monday titled Undead Nightmare II that features zombies rampaging through the game's towns and forests.
Town residents have boarded up their doors and are shooting at every zombie they see. New weather and music effects have also been added to create the perfect zombie-hunting ambiance.
Undead Nightmare was a DLC that was released for the first Red Dead Redemption. The horror-themed paid DLC added zombies and other supernatural horrors to Rockstar's fictional wild west. Fans hoped that the sequel would receive a similar DLC pack but there hasn't been any luck so far.
PCGamesN linked to a YouTube video from Quarantine Gamer that shows off the mod in detail. The video shows the player breaking down barricades that townspeople have put up and different effects in the sky for each area of land.
Take-Two released an updated sales number for Red Dead Redemption II on Wednesday. Red Dead II has exceeded 39 million units sold since its release in 2018 whereas the original game from 2010 has sold 23 million copies.
Modders have played their part in keeping Red Dead II alive with a VR mod and a "Hot Coffee" mod.
IGN's Red Dead Redemption II mod wiki details everything you need to know about installing mods like God Mode, Photorealism and more.

RTX 30 Series Graphic Cards Stolen In Daring Truck Heist
It's been over a year since Nvidia released its RTX 30 series line of graphics cards. But if you have been keeping up with the news, you'll probably know it is pretty difficult to buy one of these GPUs right now. With the demand high and supply short, one individual has taken to committing a crime just to obtain these desirable graphics cards.
In a new thread on the EVGA forums, Product Manager Jacob Freeman announced that on October 29, a shipment of EVGA GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs was stolen from a truck on its way to the company's Southern California distribution center.
"These graphics cards are in high demand," Freeman notes in the forum post." "[A]nd each has an estimated retail value starting at $329.99 up to $1959.99 MSRP." EVGA tells IGN that it can't comment on the matter as it is an ongoing investigation.
Although Freeman did not mention exactly how many graphics cards were stolen, the post did warn the perpetrator(s) what Federal and state laws they were violating, noting it will not honor any warranty or upgrade claims on anyone who tries to register one of the stolen GPUs. Presumably, because EVGA expects these cards to enter the black market soon.
As graphics cards become more and more desirable for their power and second utility in crypto-mining, GPU makers have had to work extra hard to combat shortages. Unfortunately, desperate times may have driven one individual to desperate measures.
EVGA is also encouraging anyone that may have any information related to the stolen products to email them at stopRTX30theft@evga.com.

James Gunn Cast a Peacemaker Actor Because of a 20-Year-Old Scooby Doo Audition
An audition for the 2002 live-action Scooby-Doo movie, which James Gunn wrote, led to a role in a high-profile superhero project 20 years later. That's the story of Lochlyn Munro, who will play a detective in Gunn's upcoming Peacemaker TV series.
Munro auditioned to play Shaggy in the first Scooby-Doo movie, a role that ultimately went to Matthew Lillard. But 20 years later Gunn recognized Munro again when he saw the actor's audition tape for a role in Peacemaker.
"I ended up in [Peacemaker] because when [Gunn] saw my tape, he remembered that I was one of his choices for Shaggy," Munro said on The Dave and Creech Show, according to Slash Film. "So, I went in – Obviously, [Matthew] Lillard was the perfect choice for that character. But that's kind of how he went, 'Oh, yeah, I want Lochlyn in this, because I remember he was one of my choices for Scooby-Doo.' Twenty years later, isn't that weird?"
Munro will play a detective named Larry Fitzgibbon in Peacemaker. As Slash Film points out, this is an original character created by Gunn. The character's last name, Fitzgibbon, is a reference to Gunn's "oldest friend" as explained in this Instagram post from Gunn in 2016.
Peacemaker is a spinoff of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad following the psychopathic, patriotic mercenary of the same name played by John Cena. Peacemaker will debut on January 13, 2022, on HBO Max and the first season will consist of eight episodes starring Cena.
Peacemaker will also include another hero named Vigilante. You can read up on Vigilante's abilities and backstory to see how the DC Comics character fits into the DCEU.
Here is everything new on HBO Max in November 2021 including the season 3 finale of Doom Patrol and the Will Smith movie King Richard.
