Microsoft Reveals Adidas Sneakers Themed After the Original Xbox

Microsoft has revealed that it will be partnering with Adidas to bring the world its first-ever set of console-inspired sneakers.

In an article on its website, Microsoft announced that the collaboration will feature an all-new Xbox-inspired sneaker, called the Xbox 20th Forum Tech, in honor of the original console's 20th anniversary.

Sporting a green and black color scheme with added translucent details to finish, the Adidas sneakers take inspiration from the special edition Halo-themed original Xbox console in 2001. Microsoft says that aesthetic inspiration for the footwear was guided by the company's past.

"The Adidas Forum Tech design balances nostalgia while embracing modern technology and is symbolic of how we look at our own Xbox history — celebrating the last 20 years and looking ahead to the limitless future of gaming," says James Monosmith, Senior Sales and Marketing Manager at Xbox.

While the Xbox 20th Forum Tech sneakers may have been the first to be announced in the partnership between Microsoft and Adidas, they certainly won't be the last. Over the next few months, fans should expect to see further reveals for additional sneakers, with each inspired by the various Xbox console generations of past and present. A report back in May suggested that the Adidas collaboration would include four shoe designs.

Details surrounding how to get your hands on a pair of the limited edition lines are limited. However, Microsoft has said that fans will be able to purchase at least one set from the range later this year. For those of you hoping to find out more about upcoming drops and announcements from the Xbox x Adidas partnership, Microsoft recommends following @Xbox on Twitter.

This isn't the first time in recent months that Microsoft has entered into a partnership with a non-tech related company. In July, the brand partnered up with Krispy Kreme to bring UK fans its Xbox-themed Nexus Level Doughnut. Meanwhile, in sneaker news, Nintendo earlier this year announced their own limited-edition themed footwear. Partnering with Puma, the company announced its very own Animal Crossing New Horizons-inspired shoes.

Will Smith Hates Wild Wild West Too

Barry Sonnenfeld's 1999 comedy-action film Wild Wild West has certainly seen its fair share of negativity over the years. Panned by critics and a flop at the box office, the film has an approval rating of just 17% on Rotten Tomatoes. To add to that list of woes, Will Smith recently stated in an interview that he believes it's his worst film to date.

During a recent episode of GQ's Actually Me, the actor spoke briefly about what he considers to be the best and worst films of his distinguished career. "Worst [movie]? I don't know, Wild Wild West just is a thorn in my side," said Smith. "To see myself with chaps, I don't like it."

Smith starred in Wild Wild West alongside Kevin Kline. The pair portrayed US Secret Service agents tasked with protecting President Ulysses S. Grant from the diabolical schemes of Dr. Arliss Loveless (Kenneth Branagh) and his enormous steam-powered spider tank. Smith's recent interview with GQ isn't the first time that the actor has brought up his gripes with Wild Wild West.

As reported by THR, Smith previously described promoting the film as an indication that he'd lost sight of his values. “I had so much success that I started to taste global blood and my focus shifted from my artistry to winning. I wanted to win and be the biggest movie star, and what happened was there was a lag — around Wild Wild West time — I found myself promoting something because I wanted to win versus promoting something because I believed in it," said Smith during a Cannes Lions session in 2016.

As for what the actor considers his best movie, there's no single frontrunner. “For the best, I think it's a tie between the first Men in Black and The Pursuit of Happyness,” Smith said. “For different reasons, those are the two almost perfect movies.”

Men in Black was released in 1997 and while also being directed by Sonnenfeld, it has a far higher Rotten Tomatoes rating of 92%. The Pursuit of Happiness on the other hand, while starkly different to Men in Black, earned Smith an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in 2007.

Smith's major breakthrough as a household name in the industry came during his time on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Earlier this year, it was announced that the show would be getting a reboot. Since then, a number of cast members have been named for the revival, including actor Jabari Banks, who will play the show's lead, Will. Following the announcement of Banks' inclusion in the show, Smith himself personally congratulated the actor.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Direct Coming Next Week

Nintendo has announced that its next Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct broadcast will air on Friday, October 15 at 7am Pacific / 10am Eastern / 3pm UK (that's October 16 at 1am AEDT).

The broadcast will be roughly 20 minutes long, and focuses on an upcoming November update for the game. That update is expected to introduce the long-awaited, fan-favourite Brewster and a coffee shop addition to the game's museum. Incidentally, Brewster's canonical birthday is on October 15.

We previously saw a teaser trailer for the update, but it gave very little away. However, a datamine of the game's 1.11 patch implies that players will have to build the cafe into the museum before accessing it, and that NPCs will be referencing it once it's in.

Needless to say, the community around Animal Crossing is very excited. The Roost cafe manager, Brewster, first made his appearance in Animal Crossing Wild World and has been a fan favourite within the Animal Crossing community ever since. While Animal Crossing: New Leaf made The Roost its own building, it's usually been found attached to Blathers' museum. It seems that's set to continue. We'll have all the details for you after the show airs next week.

Twitch Reportedly Hit By Huge Leak Including Source Code, Payouts and More [Update: Twitch Responds]

Update: Twitch has confirmed that its data has been breached, but has not yet commented on the severity of the issue. "We will update the community as soon as additional information is available," reads a short Twitter statement. "Thank you for bearing with us."

Twitch has reportedly been hit by a huge leak after an anonymous hacker posted a torrent file containing a vast amount of data for the public to access.

According to a report by VGC, the hacker posted a 125GB torrent link to 4chan on Wednesday, reportedly leaking "the entirety" of Twitch's source code along with creator payout reports from 2019, mobile, desktop and console Twitch clients, proprietary services, and even "an unreleased Steam competitor, codenamed Vapor, from Amazon Game Studios."

Some have already started digging into the torrent to discover which other data points are currently on public display, with one person claiming that encrypted passwords have also been compromised in the leak. As with any data breach, account holders would be advised to change their passwords and enable two-factor authentication for extra protection.

Twitch has not yet publicly commented on the issue – we've reached out for a statement.

Amongst the sensitive information released in the leak, the torrent allegedly shared creator payout reports dating back to 2019, showing the exact amount that various streamers have earned on Twitch. A comprehensive list exposing the gross payouts of the highest-paid users seemingly reveal seven-figure totals for many of the site's most popular creators.

The anonymous person behind the Twitch attack has apparently claimed that this is just the first part of the content they are planning to release to the public, allegedly stating that they are leaking information with the intention of fostering "more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space" because "their community is a disgusting toxic cesspool."

Twitch has found itself in turbulent waters in recent months, with a number of streamers going on strike on September 1 in a bid to prompt the platform to take action against hate raids directed towards marginalized users of the site. Members of the community criticised Twitch for its slow response to problematic behaviour and called for its policies to be changed.

Twitch is said to be working on its channel-level ban evasion detection and account improvements to combat hate speech and malicious behaviour, and has asked streamers to continue to report these incidents. However, despite its assurances, many streamers feel that Twitch hasn't acted effectively or quickly enough to combat hateful attacks on the platform.

Yes, Far Cry 6 Has an Early Alternative Ending Easter Egg

Far Cry 4 famously included an Easter Egg ending that allowed you 'finish' the game right from the beginning. Far Cry 5 then repeated the trick and, as you might expect, Far Cry 6 is keeping up the tradition.

Spoilers follow for the alternative ending to Far Cry 6. Stop reading if you'd like to find it yourself.

Granted, Far Cry 6 does make you work a little harder than previous games to get to its own early ending. Where 4 and 5 placed their alternate endings just after the introduction, the latest installment requires you to play the game's early missions (it took us around an hour and a half) to get to a specific point in the storyline that will allow your character, Dani, to escape a naval blockade around the Yaran island they're on.

After doing so, guerrilla leader Clara offers you a choice - to fight for Yaran freedom, or to escape on a boat to Miami. You're obviously meant to pick the former, but the latter is entirely open to you. You can check out the full secret ending in the video below:

The alternate ending itself is fairly downbeat, showing Dani on a Miami beach three months after their escape. A news report mentions that Clara has been killed and the civil war effectively ended, before mentioning pandemic lockdowns, and then playing Gloria Estefan's 'Conga' over the end credits. And that's that.

While it's always interesting to see how Far Cry handles an early ending, you'll likely have more fun searching for the intended one. We awarded Far Cry 6 an 8/10 review, with reviewer Jon Ryan saying it's "some of the most fun I’ve had with this series in nearly a decade."
