New PlayStation Remote Play Support For DualSense Includes Some Compromisess
The PlayStation Remote Play app now officially supports the DualSense controller. Support was added with the app's latest update, following on from iOS 14.5.
With the update, you'll be able to play PS4 and PS5 games on your iOS device using a DualSense as long as you're connected to a sufficiently strong network. Android users can also use the Remote Play app, but at present the Android version only supports the DualShock 4.
Reddit users report that at least some of the DualSense's distinctive features have made the transition intact, though implementation is spotty in places. While the Adaptive Triggers still work, "proper haptics" for games like Control does not.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/11/06/ps5-dualsense-controller-review"]
We tested the DualSense ourselves and found that haptics did not work on Astro's Playroom and MLB The Show 21. The headphone jack and built-in speaker likewise didn't seem compatible with remote play. We reached out to Sony and asked if improved DualSense support would be implemented at a later date, and will update when we receive an answer.
Support for the DualSense was first implemented with the latest Remote Play update after first being introduced with the iOS 14.5 update. That update introduced not just support for the DualSense, but for the Xbox Series X controller as well.
But while Remote Play is a neat feature, playing God of War over a wifi network — it's not compatible with a cellular network — isn't the greatest way to experience, say, God of War. It's best if you play it on, say, a Macbook plugged into a LAN network, at which point you're halfway toward just playing on your PS4 or PS5. The Remote Play app also doesn't support Apple TV.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-best-ps5-games&captions=true"]
Still, remote play is increasingly prevalent, especially with the advent of streaming platforms like xCloud and Stadia. And of course, Sony has supported Remote Play since the days of the PlayStation Vita.
In the meantime, if you've been enjoying Remote Play, feel free to share your experiences in the comments.
Gal Gadot Confirms Joss Whedon Threatened Her Career During Justice League
As more details emerge regarding director Joss Whedon's behavior on the set of Justice League, one of its stars, Gal Gadot, has confirmed in a new interview reports that Whedon threatened to harm her career.
In a new video interview, Gadot confirmed reports that Whedon threatened her career if she didn't do as he says or read the new lines he wrote for Wonder Woman. When Gadot pushed back on Whedon's rewrites, she says the director said he would "harm" her career.
This story aligns with what one anonymous source told the Hollywood Reporter in its exposé about Whedon's behavior while filming Justice League. Per the source, "Joss was bragging that he's had it out with Gal... He told her he's the writer and she's going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in the movie."
Previously, Gadot says she immediately brought up her concerns with Whedon to Warner Bros. executives.
Justice League star Ray Fisher, who plays Cyborg in the film, has spoken out about his treatment on the set of Justice League and particularly about Whedon's alleged behavior. The Avengers director took over directing duties after Zack Snyder dropped out of the movie following a family tragedy. The Hollywood Reporter shared that Whedon butted heads with several stars on Justice League during the rewrite process. When Fisher shared his concerns about the changes made to the movie, Whedon told him, "It feels like I'm taking notes right now, and I don't like taking notes from anybody — not even Robert Downey Jr." Whedon's behavior is reportedly not new and former cast members of shows Whedon created, like Buffy The Vampire Slayer, have come out with their own allegations against him. This includes stars Charisma Carpenter and Michelle Tractenberg. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=justice-league-snyder-cut-all-the-known-differences-from-the-theatrical-version&captions=true"] Original Justice League director Zack Snyder has gone on the record numerous times in the past about Fisher's importance to Justice League's story. This importance was eventually restored when DC released the Snyder cut, Zack Snyder's original version of Justice League, on HBO Max. This version uses no footage shot by Whedon and restores several original scenes and lines that were cut from the 2017 theatrical release. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt T.M. VVVVVV Creator’s Next Game Is Entirely Made in Roblox
The creator of VVVVVV, Terry Cavanagh, has just released his next game -- but unlike VVVVVV, you won't find it on typical storefronts. Instead, in order to play Climb the Giant Man Obby, you'll need to venture into Roblox.
In a blog post, Cavanagh announced the "obby," which is Roblox shorthand for "obstacle course" (or just a platformer) and a popular genre to make among first-time creators on Roblox.
"For the past year or so, I’ve been kinda fascinated by Roblox – a massively popular multiplayer game platform, mostly aimed at kids," Cavanagh writes. "So recently, I decided to try making a game for it!"
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/24/roblox-freeze-tag-trailer"]
"I didn’t expect how much I was going to love working in Roblox Studio," Cavanagh added. "I’ve been working on this on-and-off for about three months, which makes it one of my biggest freeware projects ever."
Cavanagh detailed his development journey with Roblox in a lengthy Twitter thread that goes back to the end of March. The thread offers glimpses of his process of adapting to Roblox's creation tools as Cavanagh first attempted to recreate the outfit worn by the fellow in the "How do you do, fellow kids?" meme, then turned his player character wearing that outfit into a giant man to then build a climbable obstacle course around.
The ensuring obby has, per Cavanagh, about 30 or so "stages" which include obstacles like giant rotating fidget spinners, extremely narrow platforms, and ziplines. Cavanah says in the thread that he wanted to include as many obby tropes as possible, and solicited feedback on what he should include.
Though Climb the Giant Man Obby is free-to-play, Roblox's game creation capabilities and a massive community of players have attracted not just hobbyists and aspiring developers, but professional developers like Cavanagh. The platform's biggest game, Adopt Me, brings in millions of dollars in revenue and is being made by a team of around 100 people -- a full-blown studio with full-time employees. Roblox itself recently went public and at the launch of its direct listing, was estimated to be worth more than Take-Two and Ubisoft combined. Its value at least in part lies in the hundreds of thousands of creators making money from content on Roblox and its hundreds of millions of active users, and the company is currently looking to expand into more countries, more languages, and add even more monetization features to make content creation a viable revenue source for creators. Knives Out 2 Casts Dave Bautista for Netflix Sequel
Dave Bautista is set to join Rian Johnson's Knives Out 2 and will reunite with Spectre co-star Daniel Craig for the Netflix sequel.
According to Deadline, sources say Bautista will join the cast of Rian Johnson's whodunnit sequel. Bautista's role is unknown, but Craig will reprise his role as the detective Benoit Blanc and Johnson will return to write and direct the sequel.
In March, Netflix acquired the rights to two Knives Out sequels from Media Rights Capital in a massive $450 million deal. Craig will play Benoit Blanc in both Netflix sequels.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-best-netflix-original-movies-and-tv-shows&captions=true"]
The first Knives Out was centered around the wealthy Thrombey family. When the patriarch, mystery novel writer Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) dies under mysterious circumstances, Blanc is called in to help solve the case in a true classic detective mystery fashion.
While the first Knives Out cast boasted stars like Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, and more, Johnson has said in the past that any Knives Out sequel will be focused on a new mystery with a new cast, with only Craig's Blanc returning as a connecting line.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/09/10/knives-out-review"]
Bautista's character will likely be a part of this new mystery. The wrestler-turned-actor will next be seen in Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead, also a Netflix exclusive, as well as the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie. The actor recently shared that James Gunn's Guardians movie could potentially be the last we see of his literal-minded warrior Drax.

NBC Pulls Out of Airing the Golden Globes in 2022
After facing criticism throughout the spring, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has reached a breaking point.
NBC has announced that the network will not air next year's Golden Globes ceremony, citing the awards body's failure to promptly make plans on reforming its controversial and discriminatory practices.
"We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform," NBC said in a statement. "However, change of this magnitude takes time and work, and we feel strongly that the HFPA needs time to do it right. As such, NBC will not air the 2022 Golden Globes. Assuming the organization executes on its plan, we are hopeful we will be in a position to air the show in January 2023.”
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/04/26/2021-oscar-winners-announced-ign-news"]
The HFPA has been dogged by criticism since the Los Angeles Times published an exposé on the insular organization's dodgy financial practices and lack of diversity.
The HFPA responded last Thursday by announcing a framework for reform that includes plans to increase the number of persons of color in membership as well as instituting restrictions on how many gifts and payments voting members can receive.
However, the plan does not seem to be substantial enough for NBC. Variety reports that the network's executives have asked to see a detailed timeline for the changes as well as a plan to double the HFPA membership plus one, meaning that new members would outnumber the old membership.
NBC's decision to drop the 2022 ceremony comes after networks like Netflix, Amazon, and WarnerMedia announced a boycott of the Golden Globes. Over the past few days, the three companies have all decided to cease association with the HFPA until notable reforms are made.
“We know that you have many well-intentioned members who want real change — and that all of us have more work to do to create an equitable and inclusive industry,” Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos said on Friday. “But Netflix and many of the talent and creators we work with cannot ignore the HFPA’s collective failure to address these crucial issues with urgency and rigor.”
Amazon, Netflix, and WarnerMedia are regular juggernauts at the Golden Globes. At this year's ceremony, WarnerMedia's HBO/HBO Max picked up nine nominations while Amazon garnered ten. Netflix dominated the field with a whopping twenty-two nominations.
The wave of criticism against the HFPA has also begun to reach previous winners. Tom Cruise has returned his three Golden Globe trophies to the organization, per Deadline. The star won in the categories of Best Actor - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for 1996's Jerry Maguire, Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama for 1989's Born on the Fourth of July, and Best Supporting Actor for 1999's Magnolia.
It remains to be seen if other previous winners will follow Cruise's lead and cut ties with the HFPA.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=2021-movies-preview&captions=true"]
Whether this marks the beginning of the end for NBC and the HFPA's partnership remains to be seen. In 2018, NBC signed a $60 million deal renewing its partnership to air the Globes, believed to be three times the previous licensing fee.
Even if the Globes return to NBC in 2023, the network now has a large gap in advertising revenue that needs to be filled by next spring.

Black Widow: 6 New Character Posters Revealed
Marvel released six new character posters for Black Widow with the best look yet of the main cast. There's a poster for the villain Taskmaster, as well as Natasha's found "family" played by Florence Pugh, Rachel Wisz, and David Harbour. You can check out the new posters below.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=black-widow-new-character-posters&captions=true"]
Black Widow is set in between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Johansson's Natasha Romanoff travels back to Russia to tie up some loose ends and on the way reunites with her adopted family including her "sister" Yelena Belova (Pugh), "father" a Russian super-soldier called the Red Guardian (Harbour), and "mother," spy, and previous Black Widow, Melina Vostokoff (Weisz).
Disney delayed Black Widow multiple times because of the ongoing pandemic, but the studio has finally settled on a July release date. Black Widow will also be released on Disney Plus Premier Access, meaning Disney Plus subscribers can pay an additional $30 to watch Black Widow at home the same day it premieres in theatres.
This was a major change as Disney's CEO insisted earlier this year that Black Widow would remain a theatres-only release. However, as the pandemic continues despite vaccine rollout, Disney changed course and will finally release Black Widow a year after it was originally supposed to be released in May 2020.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/09/black-widow-official-final-trailer"]
Black Widow will be the first MCU movie in Phase 4 and will be followed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in September, and Eternals in November.
