Green Lantern: Jeremy Irvine May Play Alan Scott in HBO Max Series

Jeremy Irvine is reportedly in talks to play superhero Alan Scott in HBO Max's Green Lantern series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Irvine, who led the Bourne TV spinoff Treadstone, is currently being eyed for the role of Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern. If officially cast, he would star alongside Finn Wittrock's Guy Gardner, who is just one of "multitudes of Lanterns" appearing in the HBO Max series being developed by Warner Bros. in association with Berlanti Productions. The original Green Lantern to wield the ring on Earth, Alan Scott made his debut in 1940 in All-American Comics #16. The railroad engineer miraculously escaped a train wreck by grasping a strange, glowing lantern. He was then instructed by the spirit inside to create a ring, and with the incredible powers it granted him, he became the first Green Lantern. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=green-lantern-whos-who-in-the-hbo-max-show&captions=true"] Even among a group as diverse as the Green Lanterns, Scott stands out as a unique part of their ranks. His bright costume was a delightful arrangement of green, red, purple, and yellow, complete with a mask and flowing cape. Despite his status, he wasn't actually a formal member of the Green Lantern Corps and stayed decidedly Earthbound in his early adventures. Irvine is in talks to play the character, who, true to more recent comic storylines, will be a gay man. Irvine made his feature film debut in 2011 starring in Steven Spielberg's War Horse. In the years that followed, he was cast in such films as The Railway Man, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, and Billionaire Boys Club. He also recently portrayed John Randolph Bentley in the Jason Bourne offshoot Treadstone. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/10/30/green-lantern-tv-show-coming-to-hbo-max-ign-now"] Green Lantern's first season will consist of 10 one-hour episodes, which will reinvent the classic DC property through "a story spanning decades and galaxies, beginning on Earth in 1941 with the very first Green Lantern." The series is co-written and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Marc Guggenheim, with Grahame-Smith serving as showrunner. Berserk Manga Creator Kentaro Miura Dies, Aged 54

Kentaro Miura, the creator of the manga Berserk, has passed away at the age of 54. CNET reported the news after the editorial department of Young Animal Comics released a statement on Twitter announcing Miura's death. He died on May 6 as a result of acute aortic dissection, according to the official statement. [caption id="attachment_2515943" align="alignnone" width="490"] Kentaro Miura (Source: IMDb) Kentaro Miura (Source: IMDb)[/caption] Miura was best known for his acclaimed dark fantasy manga Berserk, which began serialization in 1989. The manga series tells the story of Guts, a lone mercenary, and Griffith, the leader of a mercenary band called the "Band of the Hawk." Guts served as a template for many heroes that came after him. The ridiculously big sword he wields in the Berserk manga arguably started a trend in anime, which spread to characters like Cloud Strife and Ichigo Kurosaki. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2017/03/17/berserk-english-dub-exclusive-clip"] As one of the best-selling manga series of all time, Berserk has made a significant impact on mainstream media and multiple works of fiction in the years since its debut. Its influence can be seen in video games like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Final Fantasy, as well as contemporary manga and anime such as Demon Slayer, Castlevania, and Vagabond. Berserk also spawned several adaptations of its own, including two anime series, a film trilogy, and various video games. Fans took to Twitter to pay tribute to Miura following the news of his death. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Adele Ankers is a Freelance Entertainment Journalist. You can reach her on Twitter.

GTA 5 Player Beats Game Without Taking Any Damage

A GTA V speedrunner has become the first person to complete the game without taking a single point of damage, completing the game in just nine hours.

Speedrunner UnNameD managed the feat earlier this week, posting their three-part video to YouTube. UnNameD says it took them 48 attempts to actually achieve it, using a mod known as One-Hit Knock Out, which sets character health at a measly one point. As if that weren’t hard enough, the speedrunning rules also forbid UnNameD from using any armor to protect themselves, and the mod disables Trevor's invincibility ability.

Anyone who has played GTA V, which is getting improved PS5 and Xbox Series X versions this November, knows that it’s pretty difficult to get through the whole game without taking some damage, even if it’s just a stray bullet from a cop. Each of the video descriptions for UnNameD’s speedrun list out a few moments they found particularly harrowing, like the helicopter battle in the Three’s Company mission, where the crew kidnaps a target from dozens of stories up in the sky.

How Long to Beat estimates that an average playthrough of GTA V's main story takes around 31.5 hours. Other GTA V speedrunners have managed to complete the game in about three hours and 20 minutes under normal rules and skipping cutscenes.

The new-gen and PC versions of GTA V will also be getting some exclusive content once the new version releases. Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is in development, but don’t expect it to arrive any time soon, especially with reports that the studio is trying to address crunch culture on their projects. TimeSplitters Studio Free Radical Reforms to Make a New Entry at Last

After years of speculation, fan requests, and false starts, TimeSplitters is finally returning for real, courtesy of publisher Deep Silver and a number of the original developers. Deep Silver announced today that a number of "key original members" of Free Radical Design have joined together to reform the studio under the same name, including founders Steve Ellis and David Doak. The studio will serve as a subsidiary of Deep Silver. "To finally be able to confirm that the studio has been formed and that we have a plan for the next TimeSplitters game is incredible," said Ellis. who is serving as the studio development director. "While we cannot tell you anything more at the moment, we look forward to sharing information in the future." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/08/17/game-scoop-494-its-time-for-timesplitters-to-return"] Sadly, we may have to wait quite a while to see what Free Radical is cooking up; development is not expected to begin on the new TimeSplitters for a few months, with the team expecting to spend some time building out its studio in Nottingham first. TimeSplitters was a first-person shooter series masterminded by Doak, Ellis, Karl Kilton and Graeme Norgate after the four left Rare years before. TimeSplitters was first released in 2000 as a launch game for the PlayStation 2, and echoed elements from previous Rare shooters such as GoldenEye 007. It took place across multiple different time periods with 18 separate characters battling against the titular foe, creatures who can travel through time and wreck history using special crystals. It got a sequel in TimeSplitters 2 in 2002, and a further entry in 2005 called TimeSplitters: Future Perfect. After Free Radical struggled to find a publisher for a fourth game, the rights languished at Crytek for years before Deep Silver parent Koch Media bought them up in 2018. Paul Dano’s Riddler Looks A Lot Like the Zodiac Killer in Leaked Batman Art

It's been nearly nine months since the first trailer for Warner Bros.' The Batman debuted, giving fans their first look at Paul Dano's Riddler. Though the villain was only seen in brief shots interspersed throughout the footage, the design seen showed a clear departure from the Riddler's usual green suit or Jim Carrey's flashy rhinestone number in 1995's Batman Forever. Now, a new leaked image of a 2022 calendar for The Batman offers another close look at the new cinematic incarnation of Riddler. The art depicts a leather mouthpiece, some gaping eyeholes, and the villain's calling card question mark circled in a crosshairs symbol. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/23/the-batman-trailer-dc-fandome-official-footage"] The design bears a striking resemblance to the portrayal of the infamous serial killer Zodiac (depicted in David Fincher's 2007 thriller of the same name). The Zodiac Killer was active in the Bay Area during the 1960s and '70s, taking the lives of five known victims and sending cryptic communication to local law enforcement and journalists. The criminal was never apprehended nor captured on film. Fincher's production drew from accounts given by the Zodiac's survivors to create its costume. The killer was reported to wear a crosshairs insignia on his chest as well as a bag-like mask to obscure his features. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-batman-how-robert-pattinsons-batsuit-draws-from-the-past&captions=true"] It has been stated that The Batman will employ a noir approach to the DC superhero, with a story that will emphasize his detective skills. The evident decision to draw aesthetics from true crime might be a reflection of director Matt Reeves' conception of the film's story as a criminal investigation. After facing production delays during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Batman is now set to hit theaters on March 4, 2022. For more about how Paul Dano's Riddler might factor into the film, read our examination of what puzzle he could have in store for Robert Pattinson's Batman. [poilib element="accentDivider"] J.
