Why Titanfall 2 Player Counts Are Suddenly Hitting New Highs on Steam
Titanfall 2 is seeing a huge resurgence on Steam, with more active players than when the game launched on the platform. The player base has skyrocketed 650% in just two days.
According to SteamDB, the average daily peak of active players over the last 30 days is 6,815. That's up from 1,940 daily users in March, which is a gain of over 500%.
The game has more players now than when it originally came to Steam last summer, four years after the game's original release. Titanfall 2's previous peak was 13,603 players on a single day, on June 28, 2020. Sunday, 16,974 people checked into Titanfall 2 on Steam.
Prior to the spike, Titanfall 2's popularity on Steam was pretty consistent, with average players counts between 2,000 and 3,000 during most months since last August.

As for what led to the spike, a recent sale could explain the rapid increase in players. The weekend of April 17, Titanfall 2 was 75% off on Steam.
Apex Legends is almost certainly a factor in explaining Titanfall 2's sudden surge in popularity. Season 9 of Respawn's battle royale juggernaut will feature, "a ton of Titanfall coming back into the game, one way or another."
Respawn said Titanfall 2 fans have, "some really cool stuff" to look forward to in the upcoming season, which could mean new and experienced players alike are jumping back into Titanfall 2 to prepare for Apex's upcoming season. Apex Legends takes place within the same universe as Titanfall, 30 years after the events of Titanfall 2.

As for a potential Titanfall 3, fans of the franchise will likely have to get their fix through Apex moving forward. Respawn said as of 2019 they were not working on a third entry. Reports said Titanfall 3 was in development at one point, but the studio shifted its focus to Apex Legends after EA acquired Respawn.
For more, read up on how Respawn has previously tried, "a bazillion ways" to include Titans in Apex Legends.

Rudy Giuliani Won Two Razzie Awards For His Wild Borat 2 Appearance
Though it came up empty-handed in its two categories on Oscar night, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm managed to nab two wins at this year's Razzie Awards. Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani won in both Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Combo for his role in the climax of the film.
Giuliani's inclusion in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm was already widely reported by the time the comedy sequel debuted on Amazon Prime Video last October. In his scenes, the former mayor is interviewed by Borat's daughter, Tutar Sagdiyev. The two eventually proceed into a hotel room where Giuliani lies on a bed and reaches for his pants before Sacha Baron Cohen enters in character and interrupts the two.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/12/21/borat-2-star-maria-bakalova-reacts-to-best-lead-performance-in-a-movie-win"]
Giuliani's Worst Supporting Actor win put him ahead of a field dominated by showbiz legends, including Chevy Chase, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis. He won for Worst Screen Combo under the title "Rudy Giuliani & His Pants Zipper (Yes, That Really IS Rudy Giuliani!)," beating out other pairs like Robert Downey Jr. and his Welsh accent for Dolittle and Harrison Ford and a CGI dog for The Call of the Wild.
Other big winners for the night included Sia's directorial debut Music, which took home Worst Actress, Worst Supporting Actress, and Worst Director. MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell won both Worst Actor and Worst Picture for his election-fraud documentary Absolute Proof.
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm was not nominated in any other categories at this year's Razzies. However, it did pick up two Oscar nominations in Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress for Maria Bakalova's performance as Sagdiyev. Additionally, IGN named Bakalova the best lead performance in a movie last year.

In other Borat news, Amazon is planning a multi-part special detailing the making of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. The release will feature extended sequences and behind-the-scenes footage.
In our review of Borat 2, IGN gave the film a 9, calling Giuliani's sequence "mesmerizingly stunning and vomitous."

Xbox Enjoys Its Best Third Quarter Ever With an Assist From Bethesda
Microsoft's gaming division just had its best Q3 ever, not only thanks to ongoing sales of Xbox Series S and X, but also in no small part due to them basically tacking an entire extra company onto their revenue for the last three weeks of the quarter.
In its earnings today, Microsoft reported gaming revenue was up 50% year-over-year, jumping from $2.35 billion for the same period last year up to $3.53 billion this year. It's not a record quarter overall, as Microsoft's gaming revenues for October through December of last year spiked past $5 billion for the first time ever during that three-month period thanks to the new console launch. But it is a record for the January through March quarter, which is traditionally more of a quiet one for gaming companies following the busy holiday sales season of big new releases.
Obviously, the Xbox Series S and X still being novel new toys and improved supplies of both after the initial holiday rush was a major factor in the revenue spike. The shift from a quiet quarter in January to March 2020 to now brought the company's hardware sales up a whopping 232% from this time last year to now. That's admittedly unsurprising given that probably no one was buying Xbox Ones during the first three months of last year as they waited for the Xbox Series launch, but it's still a rather impressive-sounding number.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/03/09/microsoft-bethesda-heres-to-the-journey-official-announcement-trailer"]
But hardware was far from the only culprit in Microsoft's excellent gaming quarter. Xbox content and services revenue — aka software, Game Pass, and basically everything that isn't hardware — rose $739 million or 34%, which Microsoft attributes to... well, everything in that category, both first and third-party software and Game Pass revenue.
Baked into that content and services revenue though is a new factor this quarter: Bethesda and ZeniMax. Microsoft officially completed its acquisition of ZeniMax in March, meaning the company's revenue for the final three weeks of the quarter was lumped into everything else Xbox gaming. It's unfortunately impossible to tell what impact this actually had on Microsoft's revenue numbers, as ZeniMax was not a publicly-traded company before and did not disclose its actual quarterly or annual revenues prior to the acquisition, but it's very likely that the rise in content revenue was at least somewhat helped by the company suddenly adding a bunch of extra game sales to its balance sheet. The full impact may end up being more evident in future quarters when major new games launch out of ZeniMax's portfolio.

This article was amended after publication to clarify (from Microsoft's earnings call) that ZeniMax's revenue only impacted the final three weeks of the quarter.

Watch Dogs: Legion’s Mind-Controlling New Hero Delayed to May
Watch Dogs Legion's Title Update 4.0, which includes a new playable hero with mind control abilities, has been delayed from its late April release window to May 4, 2021.
Watch Dogs' Twitter shared the news, saying it needed to address certain issues to ensure the quality is the best it can be when it is launched.
"Our team is hard at work finishing up the next Title Update, 4.0, which was scheduled to go out in late April," The Watch Dogs: Legion team wrote. "While working on the different pieces of content, we encountered some issues that we need to address before deploying the update. We want the quality of this update to be in the best shape it can be. As such, we've made the decision to push the release date to May 4 to ensure a great launch.
"This will allow us to continue our work on fixes for bugs that have been reported by our players via our Watch Dogs: Legion Bug Reporter, as TU 4.0 will also include more game improvements.
"We are really excited about you playing our upcoming content on Watch Dogs: Legion, and seeing all your reactions to our roadmap has been fantastic. Thanks for your ongoing support and passion."

Mina and a new mission will be available for all Season Pass owners, but Title Update 4.0 will also add new co-op missions, new assignments, advanced character customization, and two new characters in DJ & First Responder for all players.
