James Gunn and Taika Waititi Exchanged Ideas on MCU Characters Before Thor 4

James Gunn has confirmed that he joined forces with Taika Waititi to discuss MCU characters before work began on the Thor: Love and Thunder script. Taking to Twitter, Gunn replied to a fan who asked about his level of input with the fourth Thor movie. In response, the director explained that he didn't have "much input," though he admitted that he and Waititi teamed up to exchange ideas on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Thor: Love and Thunder. He said that they both swapped scripts to figure out "where the characters are and where they're going." It was previously reported that Chris Pratt, who leads the MCU's Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, had joined the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder to reprise his role as Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord. In the same report, it was implied that other Guardians characters could possibly make an appearance in the Waititi-directed sequel also, which would further explain their potential need for collaboration. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/04/13/thor-love-and-thunder-breaking-down-taika-waititis-crazy-clues-ign-now"] Peter Quill and Thor enjoyed a friendly rivalry in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the latter of which saw the heavyset Bro Thor leave his fellow Asgardians behind on Earth whilst he joined the Guardians in space. It now sounds like the two characters could be reuniting on the big screen again in Thor 4, a movie described as having an "Avengers 5 feel" due to its large cast. The all-star ensemble features the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, and Christian Bale as the villainous Gorr the God Butcher. Waititi will also once again voice Thor's alien pal Korg in the movie, which is currently slated for release on May 6, 2022. It will follow Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and many more in the MCU's Phase 4. Capcom’s Huge Leak Has Had ‘No Significant Impact’ on the Games It Plans to Release

Capcom has said that recent leaks tied to a cyber attack have had "no significant impact" on title releases and that development work has "largely returned to normal." The news was revealed as part of Capcom's Fiscal Year 2020 3rd Quarter earnings presentation. In the Question and Answer summary, the studio responded to a question about the impact of the data security incident the company suffered back in November of 2020, which leaked a number of games and their release windows, including Dragons Dogma 2 and Street Fighter 6. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/01/21/resident-evil-village-story-trailer"] "There has been no significant impact at this point, and development work has largely returned to normal," the answer reads. This suggests that the leak has not had any impact on Capcom's current game development plans and that the studio is proceeding as normal. Capcom issued a statement in January noting that 16.415 people had their personal details stolen in the hack and that the company had lost "Sales reports, financial information, game development documents, other information related to business partners." We reported back in November that former Capcom employees feared for their private data in the wake of the ransomware attack. In other Capcom news, Resident Evil Village's Art Director recently unravelled the mystery of Lady Dimitrescu's height. Leaks for Resident Evil Village are now out in the wild and circulating, so watch out for spoilers if you're anticipating the game. Resident Evil Village will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 7, 2021. Jordan Oloman Is A Freelance Writer for IGN. Follow him on Twitter.

HBO Max’s Peacemaker Series Casts Nhut Le as Judomaster

Nhut Le has been cast as Judomaster in James Gunn and HBO Max's The Suicide Squad spinoff series Peacemaker. In an Instagram post on Thursday, Gunn confirmed the casting news, which was originally reported by Deadline. Le, who is known for his regular appearances on Comedy Central's Kroll Show, also announced his new DCEU role on Instagram, saying he is "very excited to work with an amazing cast and crew." He added, "The writing is phenomenal, hands down the funniest script I've ever read." In the comics, Judomaster is a legacy name used by three different martial arts superheroes. The character first appeared in Special War Series #4, which was published by Charlton Comics in 1965. Paul Kupperberg and Michael Collins then rebooted the character for Justice League Quarterly #14, published in 1994. Sonia Sato then emerged as the newest Judomaster in 2007's Birds of Prey #100. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=who-is-dcs-peacemaker-john-cenas-the-suicide-squad-character-explained&captions=true"] Le joins several cast members already confirmed for the Peacemaker series, including John Cena in the titular role, together with Steve Agee as John Economos, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, who is also starring in The Suicide Squad, and Chris Conrad as the DC Comics character Vigilante/Adrian Chase. Specific plot details for the eight-episode series are being kept firmly under wraps, though HBO Max previously teased that it will "explore the origins of the character that Cena will play in the upcoming film, a man who believes in peace at any cost — no matter how many people he has to kill to get it." It's understood that Cena's Peacemaker will make his debut in The Suicide Squad first. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/22/the-suicide-squad-official-cast-reveal"] The Suicide Squad is scheduled to hit theaters and HBO Max on August 6. For more on that, read the recently-released synopsis for the movie, which confirms that the story will be set in a familiar DC locale. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Changes Some Gratuitious Camera Shots

BioWare has altered some camera shots from the Mass Effect series for the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition remaster package. In an interview with Metro, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition's Project Director Mac Walters said that the team changed certain camera angles that were deemed gratuitous. "Kevin [Meek] actually called out some camera cuts that were just.... why was that focusing on Miranda's butt?," Walters explained. So in some cases, we said, 'Okay, we can make a change there'." Elsewhere in the interview, Character and Environment Director Kevin Meek alludes to another low camera shot where a male Shepherd is sat with his legs open. The developers were unable to change the animation itself, but they could alter the position of the camera to change how the shot is framed. "If you were wearing a skirt, it would be a bit unflattering," Meek explains. "So we can’t necessarily change that animation, but you can raise that camera up slightly to reduce the problem.’ [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/02/mass-effect-legendary-edition-our-first-impressions"] The developers stopped short of changing entire character models, noting that the camera shots that they did change were "a decision that was made as part of many creative decisions and just showing it at the best possible fidelity that we could going forward". "I do think a lot of things have evolved since [the original games] but I don’t know if I would say we were ultra-concerned about it or anything like that," says Walters. Back in 2010, Mass Effect 2 Project Director Casey Hudson told Kotaku that one particular gratuitous shot of Miranda's behind was "an interesting choice" and pointed out how it wasn't easily missed "when you see it there that long..." Hudson continued. Legendary Edition, which bundles together the original Mass Effect trilogy, is a remastered take on the classic action-RPGs and aims to offer almost everything the originals did. However, Mass Effect 3's multiplayer hasn't made it in, and one piece of Mass Effect 1 DLC has been lost to a corrupted source code issue. For more on the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, check out our article which features a number of comparison screenshots, showing updates to the player character's model, as well as other companions from the franchise. The game is set to launch on May 14 later this year, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. After a preview, we've said Mass Effect: Legendary Edition feels like less than a remake, but much more than a remaster. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Jordan Oloman is a freelance writer for IGN. Cyberpunk 2077 Patch Fixes Potential Hacking Vulnerability for Modders

CD Projekt Red has released a PC hotfix for Cyberpunk 2077, closing a vulnerability that could have left those modding the game open to malicious hackers. Announced on Twitter (below), hotfix 1.12 is out now on PC, and fixes two separate elements that could potentially have been used to remotely activate harmful files hidden inside mod downloads. Earlier this week, CD Projekt Red warned those modding the game to use caution after community member PixelRick flagged the potential issue. "You should be able to trust data file mods to be harmless, and only be skeptical about executables in general," PixelRick said to Eurogamer at the time. "This vulnerability makes it impossible to really trust any modded data file for this game until [the] patch." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/01/20/cyberpunk-2077-reviews-one-month-later-the-review-crew"] Thankfully, that patch is now in place after CD Projekt thanked its community for pointing out the problem. It's the second hotfix to be released after the game's major 1.1 patch, following a quick fix to a brand new game-breaking bug. To see what changes CD Projekt Red's been making, check out our performance review of the game following the 1.1 patch.
