Chris Evans Reportedly In Talks to Reprise Role as Captain America in the MCU

Update: Chris Evans has addressed the recent rumors that he could be getting ready to reprise his role as Captain America in future Marvel movies, sort of. In a short tweet posted on Evans' personal Twitter account, the actor tweeted, "News to me" along with a shrug emoji. While not a definitive statement regarding the rumors, Evans is at least paying attention to the chatter around a possible MCU return. Actors have previously denied or side-stepped casting rumors in the past, only for the news to be confirmed true weeks or months later. Mads Mikkelsen said he was not aware of the rumors that he will take over Johnny Depp's role as Grindelwald in the future Fantastic Beasts films, only for it to be confirmed later. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Original Story: Chris Evans is reportedly in talks with Marvel Studios to reprise his role as Captain America in the MCU. According to Deadline's sources, it's unlikely that Evans would return in a fully-fledged Captain America movie, with the likelihood being that he'd make a guest appearance in another superhero movie (such as Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming). Deadline reports that the deal isn't closed, but that it's headed in the direction of Evans returning to the role that he publicly said would be "risky" to come back to. "It's not a hard no," Evans explained in May last year, "but it's not an eager yes either. I think Cap had such a tricky act to stick the landing, and I think they did a really nice job letting him complete his journey." Deadline's sources say that Evans has softened to the idea in recent months, after Marvel floated the idea. That deal would apparently see Evans return for at least one, possibly two projects. Marvel has not commented on the report. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=marvel-cinematic-universe-every-upcoming-movie-and-tv-show&captions=true"] How Cap could return would be an interesting development, given the last time we saw him, in Avengers Endgame, he was a very old man, and handed his shield to The Falcon. The likeliest option is that we'd see Cap pop up in a movie set before the current day (made more feasible by the fact that Evans probably wouldn't have to be de-aged, due to his having time travelled back in time to live out his days with Peggy Carter). But the very fact the MCU has begun messing with time travel and, with Doctor Strange 2, seemingly the multiverse, could mean we see him reappear by more fantastical means –  perhaps even as an alternate reality's version of the character. After not even being a part of the original list of candidates for the role, Evans became a beloved part of the MCU in his turn as Captain America. We learned today that, in the original plans, Evans wasn't going to play the role of old Steve Rogers in what we thought would be his final appearance, but other actors didn't match him well enough. We've written a huge piece about what to expect from Marvel in 2021 – but it's safe to say Evans returning to his iconic role wasn't a part of our guesswork. Marvel has a huge slate of upcoming projects for the MCU, which begins with WandaVision, premiering on Disney+ with 2 episodes tomorrow, January 15. Hellboy’s Mike Mignola Expands His *Other* Horror Universe

Mike Mignola's name may be synonymous with Hellboy, but that's not the only shared horror fantasy universe Mignola has established. Mignola and novelist Christopher Golden debuted a brand new horror saga with 2007's Baltimore, or, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire, and they've spent the years since steadily fleshing out that universe with an ever-growing lineup of comics. Now, IGN can exclusively reveal the next additions to the Baltimore/Joe Golem universe. Beginning in April 2021, Dark Horse Comics will publish a trio of new stories under the "Tales From the Outerverse" banner. Each of these three books - Cojacaru the Skinner, Imogen of the Wyrding Way and The Golem Walks Among Us! - will focus on three pivotal characters from the larger Baltimore universe and shed light on just how much these supernatural beings impacted the events of World War II. The first issue of each series will feature cover art from Peter Bergting, forming a triptych image showcasing the many colorful characters in the Baltimore universe. Check out that triptych below: [caption id="attachment_246125" align="aligncenter" width="2977"]rsz_tfocts_triptych Art by Peter Bergting. (Image Credit: Dark Horse)[/caption] These three books will hit shelves shortly after the debut of Lady Baltimore: The Witch Queens #1 in March 2021, another key chapter in the larger Baltimore saga. As Golden explains, this shared universe continues to grow as he and Mignola find themselves fascinated with the storytelling possibilities. “From the moment Mike and I realized that Baltimore and Joe Golem existed in the same universe, it started to grow and evolve in our minds," said Golden in Dark Horse's press release. “I knew Sofia’s story wasn’t over and we’d talked about doing LADY BALTIMORE, but it felt like this new universe was so much bigger than that, just bursting with possibilities. In the previous books we had already established a deep mythology and a broad timeline, but we wanted to explore a time where the big story points would overlap. Lady Baltimore was born of that." Golden continued, "But with so many and so much world-building to explore, we knew that wasn’t enough for us, and so 'Tales from the Outerverse' was born. That’s the banner title for three separate, smaller stories spotlighting three of our favorite characters. COJACARU THE SKINNER, IMOGEN OF THE WYRDING WAY, and THE GOLEM WALKS AMONG US! each tell a self-contained story, but they’re also part of this broader story we’re telling of this world, the Outerverse, as our version of World War II kicks off. It’s all rooted in the origins of evil from the Outer Dark, which is where The Outerverse gets its name.” [caption id="attachment_246125" align="aligncenter" width="1988"]TFOCTS_i1_CVR_SOL (1) Art by Peter Bergting. (Image Credit: Dark Horse)[/caption] “Way back when, BALTIMORE was just intended to be a novel and so was JOE GOLEM,” added Mignola. “But, then, HELLBOY was originally going to be a few comics and I never imagined it would take off and turn into whatever the hell it is now. These things sometimes have a life of their own and the best thing you can do is feed the first and see where things are going to take you. In the case of BALTIMORE and JOE GOLEM, you have both Chris and I feeding the fire. The best kind of fire—a fire made of folklore, monsters and magic. So, really, there’s no limit to how far this thing might go, especially with artists Bridgit Connell and Peter Bergting onboard, doing, I thing, the best work of their careers.” Cojacaru the Skinner is a two-issue limited series that debuts on April 21, 2021. Imogen of the Wyrding Way is also a two-issue series and debuts on June 23, 2021. Finally, The Golem Walks Among Us is a two-issue series that debuts on August 4, 2021. Mignola fans can also look forward to the release of Hellboy: The Quarantine Sketchbook on March 3. This hardcover volume collects Mignola's various charity sketches from 2020. Proceeds from the book are being donated to Chef José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=hellboys-mike-mignola-the-quarantine-sketchbook-exclusive-preview&captions=true"] While Dark Horse continues to publish new comics set in the wider Hellboy/BPRD universe, the core Hellboy saga reached its dramatic conclusion in 2019 with the release of BPRD: The Devil You Know #15. Find out why we think the Hellboy saga is an unprecedented accomplishment for Mignola and his collaborators. Unfortunately, fans probably shouldn't hold their breath for a sequel to 2019's Hellboy movie. Star David Harbour is pessimistic about the prospects of a second movie. "I don't think there'll be much of a light [for a sequel]," Harbour told ComicBook.com. "There's a lot of people who reach out to me who really loved it and really enjoyed the new take, and were just happy to see [Hellboy] back on the screen, but I know in the culture at large, I don't think it was very well received." Samsung Takes On the AirPods Pro With the Galaxy Buds Pro

Samsung has announced a new set of Galaxy Buds Pro wireless earbuds for discerning audiophiles. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro is going head to head with the Apple AirPods Pro with features like active noise canceling, clear microphones, and of course, quality audio. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=samsung-galaxy-buds-pro&captions=true"] Each earbud features an 11-millimeter woofer for deeper bass and a 6.5- millimeter tweeter for richer treble. Thanks to its intelligent ANC capabilities you can reduce background noise by up to 99%. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro also features three microphones and a Voice Pickup Unit (VPU) on each earbud to ensure you’re heard as clearly as possible. One of the outside microphones is dedicated to cutting out background noises with its high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) rating. Even the earbuds shape is designed to fit flat in the users' earlobe to reduce wind contact, plus there’s Wind Shield technology built into the earbuds. Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro There’s a new Auto Switch feature that allows the earbuds to easily switch between playing audio from a Samsung phone or tablet. For instance, you could be watching a video on your Samsung Android tablet, quickly answer a phone call from your smartphone, and then switch back to hearing the tablet audio. You can expect 5 hours of playback from each earbud with ANC turned on and there’s an additional 13 hours in the wireless charging case. Without ANC, users can enjoy 8 hours of playback with 20 hours in reserve on the case. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro comes in three colors: Phantom Black, Phantom Silver, and Phantom Violet. They’re available starting now from Samsung for $199 and will be available from retailers starting on January 15th. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Have a tip for us?
