Spider-Man: Spider’s Shadow Turns Peter Parker Into Venom

The birth of Venom is easily one of the most iconic moments in the iconic Spider-Man saga, but what if that story took a different turn? What if Peter Parker remained bonded to his symbiote costume, thereby becoming Venom instead of his rival Eddie Brock? That scenario will form the basis of a new alternate reality story called Spider-Man: Spider's Shadow. Spider's Shadow is the latest Spider-Man project from writer Chip Zdarsky, who previously worked on Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man and the critically lauded Spider-Man: Life Story. Zdarsky is teaming with artist Pasqual Ferry (Thor), colorist Matt Hollingsworth (Hawkeye) and cover artist Phil Noto (Star Wars). Check out Noto's cover to issue #1 below: SMSPIDERSHADOW2021001_cov Traditionally, the birth of Venom occurs after Spider-Man discovers his black costume is actually a living, parasitic symbiote and rejects it, causing the symbiote to flee and find a more willing host in Eddie Brock. But in the tradition of Marvel's What If? comics, Spider's Shadow shows an alternate universe where Peter fails to separate from the symbiote and instead becomes Venom himself. What happens when New York's greatest hero becomes its lethal protector? “I’m thrilled to be kicking off a new era of 'WHAT IF' stories with this tale of a Spider-Man gone bad!" said Zdarsky in Marvel's press release. "How bad will he be? Will he have a goatee and no hyphen in his name? Pick up issue one to find out!" Zdarsky continued, "But seriously, I feel that with SPIDER’S SHADOW we’re exploring some dark situations with Spidey and the Marvel Universe, while making it cool and fun to read. I think longtime fans will love it and new readers will be amazed at what Marvel lets us do. Pasqual and Matt are producing amazing work on this book. When every page comes in, I share them with all of my friends even though Marvel says I’m not allowed to do that.” [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=what-is-marvels-what-if-the-disney-plus-animated-series-explained&captions=true"] While Zdarsky's comments seem to imply the series officially falls under the What If? banner, IGN confirmed with Marvel that Spider's Shadow is a standalone project and the What If? name is simply being used as a point of comparison. In fact, 1989's What If? #4 already explored a hypothetical scenario where Peter permanently bonds with the symbiote. But with Spider's Shadow clocking in at four issues rather than one, Zdarsky and Ferry will be able to explore that plot twist in far greater depth. Spider-Man: Spider's Shadow #1 is scheduled for release in April 2021. That also happens to be the month Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman are wrapping up their Venom run with the Venom #200 anniversary special. Spider's Shadow isn't the only alternate universe saga Marvel fans can look forward to in 2021. The animated series Marvel's What If... will premiere on Disney+ this summer, giving MCU fans glimpses of various alternate realities wherein Peggy Carter becomes Captain America and T'Challa becomes Star-Lord. Be sure to check out IGN's full breakdown of what to expect from Marvel in 2021. Among Us Developer Explains Why Updates Have Taken So Long

Among Us developer Innersloth has released a development log, promising a 2021 content roadmap and explaining why updates to the game have taken longer than might have been expected. As noted on the Innersloth blog, the enormous, and sudden success of Among Us led to major changes for the game - not least cancelling a sequel in favour of updates for the original. Less visibly, the popularity of the game led to a lot of change behind the scenes, and Innersloth has been  setting up a means to work on the game and its updates in a more sustainable fashion as a result: "We had to spend 2 months just restructuring, figuring out new processes, and getting external partners to help us manage on board," the blog reads. "If we wanted this to work long term and hire up, we needed to streamline things. It’s all behind the scenes work, and while it meant time away from the game, it’ll make it easier for current and future us to develop the game better," Innersloth adds. "We want to do more for you to show you how grateful we are, but without sacrificing on the quality and values we had before this blew up." Clearly, the small team is heads down right now working on new content for the game and ensuring it is ported to new platforms in the near future. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/12/22/among-us-review"] As for what's coming now that a lot of that work is done, Innersloth says it will soon release a 2021 roadmap. The developer notes it had hoped to launch the planned 'Accounts' system for the game earlier, but that a first update focusing on moderation is coming ASAP, which will build a foundation for that update. Ultimately, Innersloth wanted to "make sure it isn't half-baked before implementing. (Trust me - you do not want a bad reporting system with no accountability behind it.)" As revealed during The Game Awards 2020, a new Airship map is coming to Among Us in early 2021, and the game will also be launching on Xbox consoles this year. In other Among Us news, the game recently made it into Google's top trending searches of 2020. An Early Build of Ocarina of Time Allowed Link to Turn Into Navi

A development build of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been discovered and it reveals an in-progress look at Kakariko Village, an early archery test, and that Link could have turned into Navi via the Soul Medallion. As reported by Eurogamer, this demo, which was shown off at Spaceworld '97, was found on an old N64 development cartridge that was used to hold F-Zero X. Once further inspected, the Zelda demo build was found, and although it was partly saved-over, there was still plenty to see. Shared by Forest of Illusion on Twitter, one of the most surprising reveals was Link being able to turn into Navi via the Soul Medallion. As you can see in the images below from @MrCheeze and @Zeru64, he would have been able to fly around the map and would still have his Master Sword and Hylian Shield; NaviOther medallions would have let him cast and dispel fire at will, warp when in danger, and more. We also get a glimpse of a different looking Hyrule from @MrTalida: MapA more basic and less developed Kakariko Village from @shanebattye: KakaAn archery test where you are also riding Epona from @MrTalida and @xdanieldzd: ArcherHere, we get a glimpse of what could have been Link's Pegasus Boots from @zel640, which appear to have made the final game as the slightly tweaked Hover Boots: PegasusSome of the translated text also hints that the story of Ocarina of Time originally played out a bit differently. Jurassic World: Dominion Is the ‘Culmination’ of All Six Jurassic Movies

Jurassic World: Dominion director Colin Trevorrow has revealed that the upcoming movie will conclude the story of all six Jurassic movies, not just the sequel trilogy. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Trevorrow spoke about how Dominion will sink its teeth (and plenty of them) into the larger story of the franchise, which started with Jurassic Park back in 1993. He referred to the next installment as "a celebration of the whole franchise" as it apparently aims to tie together and draw the entire movie series to a close. "To me, [Dominion] is a culmination of one story that's been told," Trevorrow explained. "When you got to the end of the Jurassic Park trilogy, it may not have been as clear in what the complete story of those three movies was because they were a bit more episodic in the way that they were approached. But this trilogy is not that way. It's very much a serialized story. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/04/19/jurassic-world-3-will-be-more-like-the-original-jurassic-park"] "What was important for me was, when you watch Dominion, you really feel like you are learning how much of a story that first set of movies was and how everything that happened in those movies actually informs what ultimately is able to happen in this. If kids who are born today are going to be presented with six Jurassic Park movies — you hope the parents will buy them the box set — you hope they are going to get to feel like they watch one long story." Trevorrow also discussed how Netflix's Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous fits into the dino-sized franchise. He shared his hopes for the series eventually standing as its own complete saga, telling its own story while still maintaining connections with its big-screen counterparts, including Dominion, the third film in the Jurassic World series, and the sixth Jurassic Park film overall. "It's important to me, out of respect for the writers who are continuing to expand and create, to recognize [Camp Cretaceous] as clearly its own story and its own show," he said. "But this season — and if we're granted further opportunities to tell the story that we have [in season 3] — will keep weaving in to the larger story and really inform some things, even in Dominion that will connect to discoveries made that I'm really excited about." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/17/jurassic-world-camp-cretaceous-exclusive-official-clip-2020"] The second season of Camp Cretaceous will release on Netflix on January 22, so you might want to put on your archeological hats and start digging for clues about Jurassic World: Dominion. The Jurassic World threequel officially wrapped production last November after originally beginning pre-production 18 months ago, and is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 10, 2022. ‘No Plans’ for Fall Guys to Come to Xbox Game Pass

Excitement was sparked today after fans spotted Xbox Game Pass suggesting Fall Guys would be arriving soon – but Mediatonic and Devolver have since quashed the idea, with the publisher saying there are "no plans" for the game to hit the subscription service. As pointed out by ronbag on Reddit, the Xbox Game Pass Instagram account recently replied to a user hoping for Fall Guys on Game Pass by saying "it's coming". However, after news started spreading today, the game's official Twitter account, and publisher Devolver moved to deny it. Devolver explained to journalist Tom Warren that there are "no plans" for the popular game to come to "any form" of Game Pass - meaning the Xbox, PC, or cloud versions of the service. It's not clear how the miscommunication happened, but the Fall Guys Twitter account called it "a bit of a mixup". Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout saw huge success last year, after launching on PC and PlayStation 4 (debuting as a PS Plus game). An Xbox version has never been officially denied, but it seems it won't be joining Xbox's subscription service anytime soon. We awarded Fall Guys an 8/10 review, saying "a collection of exciting minigames and a burst of every colour under the rainbow makes Fall Guys a consistent delight." The game's success has led to a number of collaborations, with Doom-themed costumes being the latest addition. I Saw Black Clouds, an Interactive Thriller Movie, Announced by Wales Interactive

Wales Interactive has announced I Saw Black Clouds, a live-action psychological thriller interactive movie produced by Ghost Dog Films. Starring actors from Penny Dreadful, Outlander, and Avatar, the interactive movie will release in the first quarter of this year on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/01/20/i-saw-black-clouds-official-teaser-trailer"] I Saw Black Clouds puts players in control of Kristina, who returns to her hometown after a friend dies. Looking for answers, she unearths a series of dark secrets that reveal a shocking truth. The interactive movie will feature supernatural elements alongside its thriller plotline, suggesting there’s more going on than just a suspicious death. The storyline branches based on decisions made by players during a number of moral choice sequences. In addition, the movie tracks your actions and monitors them in accordance to five personality traits; honesty, strength, morality, tact, and introspection. Your activity is also categorized as displaying either denial, acceptance, or guilt, and these factors are all taken into consideration as the story branches and develops. Tracking of your relationship statuses and personality determines the resolution at the end of the movie, as well as individual scenes and even the storyline as a whole. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=i-saw-black-clouds-screenshots&captions=true"] For streamers, a dedicated streaming mode will automatically pause the game when choices are presented, allowing creators to discuss with audience chat and decide on the next course of action. The completely live-action film stars Nicole O'Neill (Penny Dreadful), Rachel Jackson (Outlander) and Larry Rew (Avatar), and was filmed in the UK. It will release on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC via Steam, and Mac in Q1 2021, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S launches coming later. Publisher Wales Interactive has previously put out The Complex, Five Dates, and The Bunker - all interactive FMV-style games - as well as the more traditional Maid of Sker.
