Resident Evil Village: ‘Re:Verse Mode’ and Deluxe Edition Details Leak

A Humble Bundle store page listing has revealed that Resident Evil Village will feature a mode called Re:Verse. Further details about what bonuses will feature in the game's deluxe edition have also been revealed ahead of today's Resident Evil Showcase stream. Twitter user Edward_Outcast first spotted the leak, posting it to Twitter. The copy they've screen-capped is sourced from the Humble Bundle store page for Resident Evil Village, which is still live as of writing. The description mentions that both versions of the game will include a new mode called Re:Verse. It's not clear yet whether this is a multiplayer mode or something else, but the copy surrounding it mentions "end of service" and its availability suggests as such. "Details of the operational period for Resident Evil Re:Verse, including commencement of availability and any potential announcements relating to the end of service, can be found on the official website," the copy reads. "Please note that, depending on the timing of your purchase of Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil Re:Verse may already no longer be available, and/or the title may become available through other means in the future." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/16/resident-evil-8-village-gameplay-trailer"] The description also links to a website for Re:Verse, which isn't live just yet. The store page also lists the items contained in the Deluxe Edition of the game. Players who purchase the Deluxe Edition will pick up the 'Trauma Pack' which contains "the "Samurai Edge" weapon, the "Mr. Everywhere" accessory, a screen filter and special safe room background music." There is also a pack of bonus items available to players who pre-order any edition of the game. This includes a Mr. Racoon Weapon Charm, a Survival Resources Pack and a Resident Evil Village Mini Soundtrack. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=resident-evil-village-playstation-5-screenshots&captions=true"] We've also got a short blurb describing the premise of the game "Set a few years after the horrifying events in the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 7 biohazard, the all-new storyline begins with Ethan Winters and his wife Mia living peacefully in a new location, free from their past nightmares," it reads. "Just as they are building their new life together, tragedy befalls them once again." The Resident Evil Showcase was announced last week and is set to take place today at 2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern / 10pm UK (that's 9am AEDT on January 22). Star Wars Andor Series: Alan Tudyk’s K-2SO Isn’t Part of the Show Yet

While Disney+'s upcoming Star Wars: Andor series will see Diego Luna return as the Rebel Cassian Andor, it appears Alan Tudyk's K-2SO isn't part of the series... yet. Speaking to Collider about his new series Resident Alien, Tudyk mentioned that even though they are shooting the new show now, he is not part of it. "They're shooting it right now, I'm not in it. But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I'll end up in there." Tudyk said. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/star-wars-andor-official-first-look-trailer-disney"] He acknowledged that, even though he hasn't been brought back as of this writing, he still seems to be pulled into the marketing of the show. "I'm all these announcements for the show, and I had suggested at D23 when we announced the show, that it be called K2 Fast K2 Furious: The Cassian Andor Series and, um, that's not happening, it's called Andor!" Tudyk joked. He also expressed a concern that, as he gets older, it will only get more difficult to perform in the elaborate mo-cap suit needed to bring K-2SO to life. “I do know this: I have to be on stilts for it, because the character is 7'1", and I'm not one of those guys that says, ‘somebody else do the motion capture, and I'll voice it later’. I'll have to do the motion capture, and I turn 50 in March,” Tudyk explained. “So I hope they get to it soon, because I'm not going to be on stilts in, like, five years. I'm not doing it!” [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-upcoming-star-wars-movie&captions=true"] All jokes aside, Tudyk is pretty confident K-2SO will be making his return, and he even mentions that series creator and Rogue One co-writer Tony Gilroy already has an idea in mind for him. "I'm going to be in the show. It's just that the story that Tony [Gilroy] is telling doesn't involve K-2SO until later on... I can't be too specific, but I can definitely say that I'm not going to be in the first season.” Tudyk confirmed. Tudyk's comments also seem to say that the Andor series is meant to be an ongoing series, as opposed to the limited Obi-Wan Kenobi series that is also on its way and will see the return of Hayden Christensen's Darth Vader. Star Wars: Andor is scheduled to be released on Disney+ in 2022 and will take place five years before the events of Rogue One. It is one of the many Star Wars projects in the works alongside others like Star Wars: Ahsoka and Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic. WandaVision Star Confirms the Series Starts ‘Right After’ Avengers: Endgame

WandaVision actress Teyonah Parris has confirmed that the Disney+ series "picks up right after" the events of Avengers: Endgame. In an interview with TVLine, Parris, who portrays the grown-up version of Monica Rambeau on WandaVision, touched on the show's placement in the MCU timeline. In speaking about the events surrounding the series, she revealed that the sitcom takes place chronologically after Endgame, though she didn't specify whether anything has happened in-between the movie's final battle and the series. "[WandaVision] picks up right after the events of [Avengers:] Endgame, and for Monica, it's obviously years later from when we saw her as a girl in Captain Marvel," Parris explained, later adding that viewers will discover more about her character and "what's been happening with her over those years that we missed, how she's grown and evolved." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=wandavision-all-the-marvel-and-tv-easter-eggs-in-every-episode&captions=true"] Vision was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War when the Mad Titan ripped the Mind Stone from his forehead, however, Paul Bettany, who portrays the super-powered android in the new sitcom-style series, recently outlined a scrapped Avengers: Endgame scene that would have teased his character's prospective return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite him being cut from Endgame, the android Avenger remerged in the MCU's phase 4 opener WandaVision, which debuted on Disney+ last Friday. It's possible that Shuri might have downloaded quite a bit of Vision's data at the time of his death, making it possible for him to return, or he could simply be a figment of Wanda's imagination or even an elaborate TV show simulation. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/01/15/wandavision-episodes-1-and-2-review"] The first two episodes of the MCU sitcom focused more heavily on the set-up and introduction of its high-concept ideas than the plot, meaning that we're not much clearer about Vision's return, but with Wanda's involvement in the Doctor Strange sequel it's possible that the Scarlet Witch could end up as broken as she was for a time in the comic books when the series draws to a close. Microsoft Files Patent to Create Chatbots That Imitate Dead People

Microsoft has filed a patent that would allow the company to digitally revive deceased loved ones as chatbots, using the individual's personal information. The Independent reports that the tech giant has raised the possibility of creating an AI-based chatbot that would be built upon the profile of a person, which includes their "images, voice data, social media posts, electronic messages," among other types of personal information. It's understood that the chatbot would then be able to simulate human conversation through voice commands and/or text chats. However, Microsoft has taken the concept a step further by suggesting that a 2D or 3D model of a specific person could potentially be created, using "images and depth information, or video data" of an individual in order to build a chatbot that has the same characteristics and behaviour based on the digital output of a specific person. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/01/05/top-10-black-mirror-episodes"] "The specific person [who the chat bot represents] may correspond to a past or present entity (or a version thereof), such as a friend, a relative, an acquaintance, a celebrity, a fictional character, a historical figure, a random entity, etc.," the patent explains. "The specific person may also correspond to oneself (e.g., the user creating/training the chat bot." This entire concept isn't too dissimilar to the plot of the Black Mirror episode "Be Right Back," which tells a simple but effective story about the grief of losing a loved one. In the episode, Hayley Atwell and Domhnall Gleeson star as Martha and Ash. After Ash is killed in a car accident, Martha learns of a technology that can imitate a deceased person based on their online history. The episode stands as a prime example of a very human story that is enhanced with one particular item of future-tech, designed to make lives easier. However, Martha's journey with her AI boyfriend explores many of the potential pros and cons of these types of technological advancements, including some of the implications of living in a digital age. Gabe Newell Says Valve Has More Games in Development, Waiting to Be Announced

In an interview with New Zealand's 1 News, Valve boss Gabe Newell has said that multiple games are in development at the studio, and are waiting to be announced. The Valve co-founder has been staying in New Zealand during the COVID-19 pandemic after taking a vacation there following the launch of Half-Life: Alyx. "We definitely have games in development that we're going to be announcing — it's fun to ship games," Newell said when asked about future games coming out of Valve. Valve has developed - and subsequently cancelled - a lot of games in the past (including several versions of Half-Life 3). The fact that Newell specifically says these new games will be announced suggests a shift from the company's recent history of being reticent to release new software. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/18/ign-first-half-life-alyx-gabe-newell-interview"] Newell also spoke about the process of creating Half-Life: Alyx, and Valve's return to single-player: "Alyx was great — to be back doing single-player games, that created a lot of momentum inside of the company to do more of that." Newell's comments also suggest that the studio is energised and keen to work on more single-player titles, which makes sense considering the plot of Half-Life: Alyx. It means that we may see more of Gordon Freeman (or hell, maybe even Chell?) in the future. That tallies with his Half-Life: Alyx's developers' comments after the game arrived, with more than one telling IGN that the team wanted to work on more Half-Life games now that Alyx was complete. Famously, Valve revealed Half-Life: Alyx in November 2019 and then launched it in March of 2020. Newell's explanation that Valve is "going to be announcing" these games could suggest that we may even hear about them soon. In less positive Valve news, The European Commission recently issued the company with a fine over alleged "geo-blocking". Xbox, EA Exec Peter Moore Rejoins the Game Industry at Unity

Former Xbox and EA executive Peter Moore has revealed he has rejoined the games industry, taking a position at Unity. Moore noted on Twitter that he will join game engine development company Unity as its Senior Vice President and General Manager of Sports & Live Entertainment. Moore first worked at SEGA during the Dreamcast era, acting as the President of Sega of America. He then moved to Microsoft in the early 2000s to work on the original Xbox - famously revealing what seemed to be a tattoo of the Halo 2 logo and release date at E3 2004. In 2007, Moore then left Microsoft to head up the sports division at Electronic Arts. Moore left games in 2017, and after a stint as the CEO of his hometown football club Liverpool F.C, he has returned to work at Unity. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2006/09/22/peter-moore-interview"] In his tweet, Moore notes that he is, "Delighted to be reunited with so many industry friends as we work on some really cool stuff. More to come..." For more on Peter Moore, check out our interview with Moore about his storied career, as part of IGN's Unfiltered series. It's also worth checking out Moore's appearance on our episode of Podcast Unlocked, where we brought together Xbox bosses past and present for a talk about the history of Microsoft's consoles. LEGO Ideas Metroid Set Reveals Huge Ridley Add-On in Fan-Created Project

A fan-created LEGO set featuring characters from the Metroid franchise received another milestone update today as Ridley has now been added to the project. It features fully articulating arms, legs, a tail, and head, and can even grab minifigures in its hands. Ridley has been one of bounty hunter Samus Aran's longtime arch nemeses throughout the series dating back to the original NES/Famicom title, appearing in many subsequent games and even becoming a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after being one of the most-requested characters for years. But this LEGO creation might be one of Ridley's coolest iterations yet. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=lego-metroid-fan-project&captions=true"] The project by user L-DI-EGO actually began in May 2020, but has received a steady stream of updates as more supporters have backed the project, including multiple helmet styles for Samus, space pirate variants, and an alternate Hunter-class gunship variant seen in the Metroid Prime series. LEGO Ideas is a website where master builders can submit their ideas and if 10,000 people support the project it will be reviewed by a panel of LEGO experts and potentially be made into a real set. At any given time there can be hundreds of pop culture-inspired submissions that fans have created. One of the more popular LEGO Ideas to gain traction recently and become an official set was the Friends-themed Central Perk set that was released in 2019 to celebrate Friends' 25th anniversary. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=17-images-of-the-friends-lego-set&captions=true"] Merely gaining 10,000 followers doesn't guarantee an official set will be produced, however. A LEGO Ideas creation featuring a small diorama from Untitled Goose Game achieved the needed backers, but was ultimately passed on by The LEGO Company after review. Nintendo surprised many when it announced a Super Mario-themed LEGO crossover series of interactive playsets last year. A new batch of LEGO Super Mario expansion sets were announced recently that are expected to launch this year and will include Chain Chomps, Wigglers, a Tanooki suit, and more. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/11/17/lego-super-mario-series-2-expansion-sets-trailer"] Many longtime Nintendo fans were delighted to receive an official LEGO playset featuring an NES complete with controller and Super Mario Bros. cartridge along with a "playable" retro-style TV that released last year, as well. If you want to support this Metroid-themed LEGO set in the hopes that it may one day become a reality make sure to head over to the LEGO Ideas page and show it some love.
