Brian K. Vaughan Developing Buck Rogers TV Series for Legendary

Award-winning comic book creator Brian K. Vaughan has been tapped to write the television adaptation of Buck Rogers for Legendary. According to The Wrap, Vaughan, the writer behind Y: The Last Man, and more recently Saga, is developing Legendary's new Buck Rogers TV series alongside producers Don Murphy and Susan Montford, whose credits include Transformers and Real Steel, via their Angry Films banner together with Flint Dille, the grandson of the original Buck Rogers creator, Philip Francis Nowlan. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/19/5-great-sci-fi-movies-on-netflix-that-arent-star-wars-or-the-mcu"] The project is based on Nowlan's Armageddon 2419 A.D. novella, published in a 1928 issue of the Amazing Stories magazine. The story opens with Rogers trapped inside a coal mine, where he falls into a state of suspended animation and wakes up almost 500 years into the future. The character rose to further prominence when he appeared in a 1929 John F. Dille comic strip. Now, Rogers is expected to make a comeback in a multi-platform sci-fi franchise at Legendary. This new deal will see the popular property branch out across various projects and platforms, starting with "a big-screen take," which will pave the way for the "prestige television series as well as an anime series, giving audiences a 360-look at heroics sets in the 25th century." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-25-best-sci-fi-movies&captions=true"] The adventures of the spaceman protagonist have appeared in a variety of formats over the years, including comics, movies, radio, and television. The developing project at Legendary could lead to many more adventures with the Rogersas Hollywood continues to revisit past properties. New Mass Effect Revealed

A new Mass Effect was officially revealed during The Game Awards. The project is currently in "early production," according to BioWare. The reveal provided little information about what can be expected from Mass Effect's next chapter, though the teaser trailer ended on a shot of an asari who may be Liara. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/12/11/mass-effect-new-installment-announcement-trailer"] BioWare previously confirmed a "veteran team" was working on the next Mass Effect, though this is the first we've seen of it beyond concept art. The series' latest entry, Mass Effect Andromeda, was released in 2017 and is widely considered the weakest Mass Effect. IGN's review said Andromeda "only occasionally recaptures the series' brilliance, but delivers a vast and fun action-RPG." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=mass-effect-next-chapter-game-award-trailer-screenshots&captions=true"] Ahead of the next Mass Effect, BioWare and EA will release Mass Effect Legendary Edition in Spring 2021 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The long-rumored remastered collection of Mass Effect 1-3 was confirmed last month on N7 Day. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Jordan is a freelance writer for IGN.

Among Us Reveals New Map, The Airship

Among Us has fully revealed its new airship-themed map called...The Airship. Revealed at The Game Awards 2020, the map received a new trailer, which showed off not just the new location, but new activities for crewmates to try and complete without being horribly murdered. The new map is a massive new map with multiple floors, contraptions, jobs, and more. Oh also Geoff Keighley's face will be a mask for Among Us. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=among-us-airship-trailer&captions=true"] The map is based on the Toppat Clan Airship, from developer Innersloth's Henry Stickmin series. It caps off an incredible year for Among Us, which launched in 2018 but achieved huge success during the 2020 pandemic, even causing Innersloth to cancel a sequel in favour of adding updates like this. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has streamed the game to huge audiences on several occasions, which we've said bodes well for video games and government.
