Cyberpunk 2077: CDPR Says It Will Refund Copies if Players Can’t Get Them From Stores

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red says it intends to refund players out of the company’s own pocket if they can’t get refunds from other stores.

In a tweet posted Friday morning, CD Projekt Red updated its initial post about Cyberpunk 2077 refunds, stating that their “intention is for every owner of a physical copy, or a digital copy bought at retail, who has valid proof of purchase (and sends us an email at helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com within the time window) to receive a refund. We will do this out of our own pocket if necessary.”

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/12/18/cyberpunk-a-red-flag-for-cross-gen-games-next-gen-console-watch"]

CD Projekt Red also stated it is asking players who can’t get a refund from the store they bought it from to email CDPR by December 21.

CDPR said that the company will provide next steps for people requesting refunds after the request submission window closes. CDPR reiterated that digital versions of Cyberpunk 2077 will still need to be refunded through their respective platforms.

If you’re unsatisfied with your copy of Cyberpunk 2077, here’s how to request a refund on PS4 and Xbox. Xbox recently expanded its refund policy to allow for Cyberpunk 2077 returns.

The Cyberpunk 2077 refund debacle continues after CD Projekt Red’s messy messaging. Sony has pulled Cyberpunk 2077 down from the PlayStation Store, although previously purchased copies are still playable. CD Projekt Red has promised players that it is working on bringing Cyberpunk 2077 back to the PS Store “as soon as possible.”

IGN also has an exhaustive Cyberpunk 2077 wiki, including a huge interactive map of Night City and quest walkthrough.

Xbox Expanding Refund Policy to Allow for Cyberpunk 2077 Returns

Xbox has expanded its refund policy for Cyberpunk 2077 to ensure that anyone who purchased CD Projekt Red's latest game digitally from the Microsoft Store can be fully reimbursed. Those interested can request a refund for Cyberpunk 2077 through Microsoft's support page, and this move comes after Sony's decision to not only offer refunds for all Cyberpunk 2077 players, but also remove it from the PS Store indefinitely. Unlike Sony, Microsoft does not appear to be removing the game from its online store. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/12/18/sony-pulls-cyberpunk-2077-from-ps-store-will-offer-refunds"] "To ensure that every player can get the experience they expect on Xbox, we will be expanding our existing refund policy to offer full refunds to anyone who purchased Cyberpunk 2077 digitally from the Microsoft Store, until further notice," Xbox Support wrote on Twitter. "While we know the developers at CD PROJEKT RED have worked hard to ship Cyberpunk 2077 in extremely challenging circumstances, we also realize that some players have been unhappy with the current experience on older consoles." Xbox Support also mentions that Microsoft has already "granted refunds to the vast majority of customers who have requested one," but this makes it more official and hopefully easier for consumers. This new development is another entry in the messy story that has been Cyberpunk 2077's launch. Following many players reporting major issues with resolution, frame rate, texture pop-in, and more with Cyberpunk 2077 on base Xbox One and PlayStation 4 units, CD Projekt Red promised players that they would be able to get refunds if they were unhappy with their experiences. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=cyberpunk-2077-examples-of-visual-bugs&captions=true"] While some were successful, many noted that both Microsoft and Sony were denying their refund requests. This led to much confusion and the eventual decisions by Microsoft and Sony to address this matter publicly. In our review of the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077, which was the only platform we could play before launch, we praised the game. However, we separately reviewed the console versions, and said "If your only option right now is playing Cyberpunk 2077 on either of the base console platforms, I highly suggest you don’t play at all until its many terrible performance issues are fixed. And if you’ve already bought it and had an experience similar to what I’ve described, you should absolutely get a refund if possible." Ghost Of Tsushima: Legends Adds Unlockable God of War, Bloodborne, and Other PlayStation Costumes

Sucker Punch Productions has updated Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, adding a set of unlockable PlayStation costumes based on platform exclusives God of War, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Shadow of the Colossus, and Bloodborne. The news was revealed in a tweet from the official Ghost of Tsushima account, which notes that the special costumes can be unlocked by playing any Story or Survival mission with each class to unlock the corresponding outfit. The outfits will be available until January 15, 2021. You can see what they look like in the gallery below: [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=ghost-of-tsushima-playstation-skins&captions=true"] The Samurai skin is based on Kratos from God of War and is covered in evocative bloody swirls. The hunter class riffs off of Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn, with custom headgear and an embroidered dress. The Hunter skin takes cues from Shadow of the Colossus, with a colossi mask and custom patterned garb. Finally, the Ronin Bloodborne skin is serving big Eileen the Crow vibes with its feathered pauldrons. It's a neat incentive to get players to check out Ghost of Tsushima's co-op mode. We scored Ghost of Tsushima a 9 at launch, calling it an "excellent action game". The game also won the Player's Voice award at The Game Awards 2020.
