Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Major Update Adds Graphics Options and More
Ubisoft has deployed a major title update for Assassin's Creed Valhalla across all platforms, which brings with it new graphical options for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and many bug fixes across all platforms.
The full patch notes can be found here. The 1.0.4 update is rolling out over the course of November 26 on Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Stadia and Amazon Luna.
One of the main new features is the ability to flip between Performance and Quality mode on Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5. In Performance mode, the game will "adapt the resolution and graphics settings to maintain 60 FPS." In Quality mode, Valhalla will run at max resolution and graphics settings "while maintaining 30 FPS." Ubisoft notes that Performance mode is the default setting for both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, whereas Quality mode is the default for the Xbox Series S.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/11/09/assassins-creed-valhalla-review"]
This update has also apparently improved the game's experience on the Xbox Series X and S following reports of screen tearing from users and addressed a RAM leak when PC players alt-tabbed to the desktop while playing. Cloud saves will now be more distinguished to distance them from regular saves, and Ubisoft has tweaked the balance of some damage statistics and improved access to the fabric resource.
Runes are now categorized too, and when you unlock a central skill in the skill tree, the game will now automatically assign all of the nodes on the path leading towards it, which is a handy little fix.
We reviewed Assassin's Creed Valhalla upon its launch, scoring it an 8 and touting its "massive, beautiful open-world." We also learned recently that the Orlog dice game that debuted in Valhalla is going to receive a physical release in 2021.

CD Projekt Really Wants Us to Know Cyberpunk 2077 Is Coming Out on December 10
After three previous delays, it's no wonder some are still worried that Cyberpunk 2077 could miss its December 10 release date. It's also no wonder that CD Projekt really wants you to know that it won't be missing that date.
In the company's Q3 earnings reports, that date is mentioned multiple times, in multiple places. The date is referenced 4 times in the company's Q3 financial statement, earns itself two separate slides in its investor presentation, and company CFO Piotr Nielubowicz references upcoming release date in a video message to investors.
"The final stretch before the release calls for enormous dedication and cooperation on the part of the whole team, which is now all the more difficult given that the vast majority of the team continues to work from home. This is why I wish to extend my deepest thanks to the entire team for their determination and hard work. Together we are wrapping up the grandest project in our history. [...] In 2 weeks' time Cyberpunk will be released to gamers around the world."

It's perhaps no surprise that we're seeing these confirmations – we've had a final set of previews, seen physical copies reaching retailers, and even begun to see gameplay leaks. CD Projekt Red also reconfirmed the December 10 date to IGN after rumours about another delay began to spread.
But it's testament to just how changeable Cyberpunk's release has been – and the huge anticipation for the game – that we're seeing CD Projekt make absolutely clear, again, that the game is on its way for the intended date.
If you're convinced, we've got a list of the best Cyberpunk 2077 pre-order deals and, if you're in the market for new consoles and other games, a list of the best Black Friday video game deals.

Godzilla vs. Kong May Go to HBO Max After Netflix’s Failed $200M Offer
Forget Godzilla vs. Kong, there's an even bigger battle said to be going on between the streaming services for the fourth movie in Legendary's MonsterVerse.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, negotiations are reportedly underway to shift the franchise movie to streaming. The outlet has heard from various sources that Netflix made an offer of more than $200 million to bring Godzilla vs. Kong to its streaming service, but WarnerMedia "blocked the deal while preparing an offer of its own for its streamer, HBO Max."
Legendary declined to comment on the story while a Warner Bros. spokesperson stated that the movie would be sticking to its release plans after the studio previously postponed the monster mash tentpole from Nov. 20, 2020, to May 21, 2021. "We plan to release Godzilla vs. Kong theatrically next year as scheduled," the spokesperson insisted.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/05/24/godzilla-kong-in-5-minutes"]
However, the outlet noted that WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar and Warner Bros. chairman Ann Sarnoff are reviewing the options and trying to figure out an offer for "a streaming release on HBO Max that in theory also includes a theatrical component," similar to the revised release plans for Wonder Woman 1984, which will see the movie bow in theaters and debut on HBO Max on December 25.
This news comes as studios and theater chains struggle with the ongoing effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Godzilla vs. Kong has been delayed several times, along with numerous other film and TV projects. The movie initially targeted a May 29, 2020 release date but was soon shifted to March 13, 2020. The sequel then moved to November 20, 2020, before settling on May 21, 2021.

Both the Godzilla and the Kong franchises have been slowly working towards the Godzilla vs. Kong showdown ever since 2014's Godzilla, which was directed by Gareth Edwards. Kong went up against a multitude of creatures in 2017's Kong: Skull Island while 2019's Godzilla: King of Monsters threw the giant radioactive lizard at some of his most iconic foes, including King Ghidorah, Rhodan, and Mothra.
The upcoming sequel, directed by Adam Wingard, promises to take the film series to the "next-level" with an all-star cast made up of Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, and Rebecca Hall.

Joss Whedon Explains Why He Just Quit His New HBO Series The Nevers
Joss Whedon has announced that he is stepping down from HBO's upcoming sci-fi series The Nevers, citing various reasons for his decision in "this year of unprecedented challenges."
In a statement released to CinemaBlend, Whedon explained that the taxing nature of working on such a project during the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic had taken a toll on his energy levels, as he confirmed that he would be officially exiting the series, on which he was serving as writer, director, executive producer, and showrunner.
"This year of unprecedented challenges has impacted my life and perspective in ways I could never have imagined, and while developing and producing The Nevers has been a joyful experience, I realize that the level of commitment required moving forward, combined with the physical challenges of making such a huge show during a global pandemic, is more than I can handle without the work beginning to suffer," Whedon wrote in his departure statement.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2015/11/26/the-7-best-sci-fi-trailers-ever"]
"I am genuinely exhausted, and am stepping back to martial my energy towards my own life, which is also at the brink of exciting change," he explained further. "I am deeply proud of the work we have done; I'm grateful to all my extraordinary cast and collaborators, and to HBO for the opportunity to shape yet another strange world. The Nevers is a true labor of love, but after two plus years of labor, love is about all I have to offer. It will never fade."
HBO released a separate statement regarding Whedon's decision to leave the project. In the statement, the network confirmed that the sci-fi series is still on schedule to be released next year, writing, "We have parted ways with Joss Whedon. We remain excited about the future of The Nevers and look forward to its premiere in the summer of 2021."
The Nevers was originally announced in 2018 as "an epic science fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies, and a mission that might change the world." While it's unclear how much work had been completed on the HBO series up until this point, it is understood that the cast had been finalised.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-dark-knight-trilogy-and-more-dc-movies-and-series-missing-on-hbo-max&captions=true"]
The series is being headed by Laura Donnelly (Outlander), who plays Amalia True, and Ann Skelly (Red Rock), who stars as Penance Adair, Amalia's best friend in the show. The cast also features Olivia Williams, James Norton, Tom Riley, Ben Chaplin, Pip Torrens, Zackary Momoh, Amy Manson, Nick Frost, Rochelle Neil, Eleanor Tomlinson, and Denis O'Hare.
If you're looking to fill up your watch list in the meantime, IGN has a complete rundown of everything that was available on HBO's streaming service at launch, with notable highlights including the entire Studio Ghibli collection, all eight Harry Potter films, and a curation of timeless Turner Classic Movies like Gone With the Wind, and Once Upon a Time in the West.

MechWarrior Coming to Xbox Consoles, DLC Delayed Into 2021
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries' 'Heroes of the Inner Sphere' DLC has been delayed until Spring 2021 to coincide with the launch of the game on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, Steam and GoG.
Piranha Games revealed the news as part of a blog post on the MechWarrior 5 website, noting that Cyberpunk 2077's release date shifting to December 10th influenced their decision to move the release date, as this was when the DLC was originally slated to launch.
"Any developer wants their titles to get as much attention as possible, and obviously sharing a release date with Cyberpunk was less than optimal. Day one sales and marketing are so important to a successful product launch, and we believe that rescheduling our release date will allow MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries to have the opportunity and attention it deserves," the blog post reads.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/11/mechwarrior-5-mercenaries-review"]
The good news is that this will allow for a simultaneous launch for MechWarrior 5 across multiple platforms in Spring 2021. It'll be the first time a MechWarrior game has been on a console since 2004, when MechAssault 2 landed on the original Xbox. According to Piranha Games, Mechwarrior 5 on Xbox is "the first true MechWarrior experience ever on a console."
Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries launched on PC in December 2019 exclusively on the Epic Games Store. We reviewed the game at launch, scoring it an 8.1 and calling it a "modern revival of the series."
