Annapurna Interactive Delays 3 Games Into 2021
Outer Wilds and Sayonara Wild Hearts publisher Annapurna Interactive has confirmed that three of its planned 2020 games have slipped into 2021.
The Artful Escape, 12 Minutes and Last Stop will now launch in 2021 instead of the "broad 2020 release window" that was initially planned. The publisher revealed the news on Twitter, explaining that the developers are just refining the games as we speak.
"We're looking at 2021 now as they all get closer to getting ready," the tweet reads. "They've all come together throughout the year and it's pretty much polishing at this point."
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/11/14/the-artful-escape-gameplay-trailer-x019"] Revealed during the Xbox briefing at E3 2019, 12 Minutes is a top-down murder mystery starring James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley and Willem Dafoe. Last Stop was also revealed at X019 and is a new game from the creators of Virginia set in modern-day London. The Artful Escape was first announced during E3 2017, and we later got some gameplay of the absurd musical adventure during E3 2019. Annapurna recently launched The Pathless, a PS5 launch game from Abzu developer Giant Squid. You can check out our review of the game here, which we scored an 8, touting its "fun movement system." The US National Science Foundation (NSF) has confirmed the iconic 1,000-foot telescope at Puerto Rico’s Arecibo Observatory will be decommissioned following a succession of major structural failures, reports Gizmodo.
The dish itself is responsible for a number of fascinating discoveries throughout its 57-year operational history, including the first radar image of an asteroid and the first discovery of exoplanets, though it’s especially recognisable for its famous cameo in the final act of 1995’s GoldenEye. The dish brought about the demise of Sean Bean’s Alec Trevelyan, who inexplicably survived a 400-foot fall into the dish itself only to perish when the suspended receiver fell on him (and... exploded).
The Puerto Rican facility is just one of Bean’s many on-screen resting places, which also include Maryland, Middle-earth, and Ireland’s County Kerry, where he was pushed off a cliff... by some cows.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/09/03/goldeneye-official-trailer"]
The dish’s problems began in August when an auxiliary cable came loose and smashed into the dish below. At the time, a plan was hatched to replace the structure’s cables but, in November, a main cable snapped. This triggered a reassessment of the entire situation, and it was decided that the dish’s condition is too poor for workers to safely salvage and repair it.
The NSF has stressed that, while the dish will be demolished, the Arecibo Observatory is not closing down.

Earlier today, customers began to report that GameStop was canceling pre-orders for Doom Eternal on Switch. IGN has learned that this is not because Bethesda has canceled Doom Eternal Switch, but rather is making it a digital-only release.
In a statement to IGN, a Bethesda spokesperson says,
"While Doom Eternal is 100% on track for an imminent digital-only release on Nintendo Switch, the absence of a physical release at retail resulted in cancelled pre-orders."
They added, "Affected customers will receive full refunds and should contact their preferred retailer for more information."
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=doom-eternal-january-2019-screenshots&captions=true"]
Doom Eternal was released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC back in March, but a previously announced Switch version would arrive sometime later. While the publisher still hasn't announced a proper release date, pre-orders for Doom Eternal on Switch were available for interested customers.
Bethesda says customers should stay tune for more information "coming later this month." Check out IGN's Doom Eternal review here for more on the Doomslayer.

Cruella Among Movies That May Skip Theaters for Disney Plus
As coronavirus cases surge across the globe and theaters start closing again, Disney is reportedly considering pushing some of their big upcoming movies to their Disney+ streaming service.
According to Deadline, Disney is mulling Disney Plus premieres for Cruella, Peter Pan and Wendy, and Pinocchio instead of their originally planned theatrical releases. All three films are live-action spins on Disney animated classics.
"It isn’t clear at the moment whether the films will be offered free to Disney+ subscribers, as was done with the Pete Docter-directed Pixar film Soul, or for a premium charge as was done with Mulan," Deadline reports. "Still, it’s a bombshell development in the fast changing theatrical/streaming landscape."
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-upcoming-disney-live-action-remake&captions=true"]
Cruella, directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Emma Stone as a pre-101 Dalmatians version of the dog-napping villainess, is currently slated for a May 28, 2021, theatrical release.
Pinocchio, a live-action remake of Disney's 1940 animated classic, is directed by Robert Zemeckis and stars Tom Hanks as Geppetto.
Peter Pan and Wendy is a live-action remake of the studio's 1953 film that will be directed by David Lowery (Pete's Dragon) and stars Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/mulan-review"]
Mulan was originally slated for a theatrical release last March before theaters closed. While Disney hasn't released precise numbers on how Mulan fared on Disney+, Disney CEO Bob Chapek recently said he was "pleased with the results."
Originally slated to open in cinemas this month in cinemas, Pixar's Soul will debut on Disney+ on Christmas Day instead.
