Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Minecraft DLC Fighters’ Release Date Announced

Nintendo has announced that Minecraft's DLC fighters, including Steve, Alex, Zombie, and Enderman, will be available in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on October 13, 2020, for those who own the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass Vol. 2. It will also be available for $5.99 USD for those who don't. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's director Masahiro Sakurai also broke down these new Minecraft characters, including that they will look and act just like they do in their game, from the way their elbows and knees don't bend to how  they walk. You can even tilt his head up as you can in Minecraft. Steve is one of the available variations of this Minecraft fighter and the one we will be referencing in this article, and he isn't the best jumper. In fact, he can't even make it up to a platform on a single jump, and will need a mid-air jump to do so. This smaller jump, however, is perfect for him getting on the block he can create in game. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/01/super-smash-bros-ultimate-minecraft-reveal-trailer"] His sword will be used in neutral attacks, smash attacks, and air attacks. While they don't have the best range, they do pack a ton of power. His axe is used for attacks overhead, and it can be used as an up tilt attack to juggle opponents. The pickaxe will be used in dash attacks, forward air attacks, and back air attacks. As in Minecraft, you will be able to use Craft to strengthen your tools/weapons. They will power up in the following order: wood, stone, iron, gold, and diamond. These tools and weapons have limited durability, so they will break, and can leave you fighting bare-handed, which makes you much weaker. Luckily, if one tool breaks, you can still use the others. Steve's down tilt attack used flint and steel, setting a fire in front of you. The up smash attack is the magma block, the down smash attack is the lava bucket, the down air attack is the anvil, the grab uses the fishing rod, the forward and up throws use a piston, and the down throw summons an anvil to flatten opponents. The special attacks include Mine (B on ground), Craft (B at crafting table), Create Block (B midair), Minecart (Left or Right + B), Elytra (Up + B), and TNT (Down + B). With Mine, you will dig in front of you to collect materials, and a different tool will be used depending on the ground/wall you are trying to mine. Different levels will feature more of specific materials, so your tactics will have to slightly change depending on where you fight. If you choose a Battlefield-form level, the materials will "appear at a pre-determined rate" to cut out some of the randomness. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=super-smash-bros-ultimate-minecraft-dlc-fighters-screenshots&captions=true"] Once you have sufficiently mined enough materials, you can craft to make tools. As previously mentioned, your tools can break, so you will need to make more at the crafting table that will always appear by your start point, but you can summon it by using Shield+B. The highest-quality took will be crafted from the materials you have, and you can also repair tools before they break to avoid having to craft a new one. Also, if you want to mine diamonds to craft the best tools. you have to dig longer on each surface. Creating Blocks is another unique feature of the Minecraft characters, and also used materials you gather to build. If you hold B, you can also create blocks while moving. This feature made it so Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's developers had to rework every level to make this new move function properly. Placing blocks can create many more exciting opportunities to defeat your opponent, but there is a limit to where you can build which is identified by a pink line on blocks that get to close to the limit. It's also important to note that you will use the lowest level of materials when building blocks, but if you run out, you will start using your more valuable materials. So, make sure to pay attention when building block so you don't ruin future opportunities for yourself. There will be a bar above your character's icon on the bottom that will let you know what materials you currently posses. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/02/minecraft-steve-breaks-into-super-smash-bros-ultimate-nvc-528"] The Final Smash is called House of Boom. Once activated, you will summon a giant piston that will send your opponent flying in to the House of Boom. This room is filled with TNT, Zombies, and Creepers that will all explode while you eat a victory steak. Only one opponent can be trapped in the House of Boom, but others can be hit by the initial attack. The new stage that arrives with these Minecraft characters is Minecraft World, and it features one of six biomes from Minecraft - Plains, Birch Forest, Savanna, Taiga, Snowy Tundra, and Stone Shore - that are randomly chosen for each match. There will also be new Spirits, Challenges, and new songs. Since the slower paced songs from Minecraft would not quite fit, according to Sakurai, seven tracks have been included from Minecraft Earth and Minecraft Dungeons - Halland/Dalarna, Earth Clockwork Crafter, Toys on a Tear, Dance of the Blocks, Glide, and The Arch-Illager [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/12/06/super-smash-bros-ultimate-review"] There will also be new Mii Fighters, including Minecraft's Creeper (Brawler), Pig (Brawler), and Diamond Armor (Swordfighter), The Tower of Daruga's Gil (Swordfighter), Bomberman (Brawler), and Travis from No More Heroes (Swordfighter). These will also be available on October 13, 2020, for $0.75 USD. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Have a tip for us? Want to discuss a possible story? Please send an email to newstips@ign.com. Fast 9 Release Date Delayed to May 2021

UPDATE: Universal Pictures has once again delayed the theatrical release of Fast 9, but this time not as dramatically as they did back in March. Fast 9 will now open May 28, 2021, which is Memorial Day weekend in the United States. F9 was previously slated to open April 2, 2021, after being delayed to that date from its original May 22, 2020 slot. Our original report follows. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Universal Pictures has announced that Fast 9, the Fast and Furious sequel originally set for a release this May, will now be released in April 2021, in response to actions taken around the world concerning the novel coronavirus COVID-19. Fast 9, the 10th film in the Fast and Furious franchise, was originally meant for a theatrical release on May 22, 2020. However, a statement from Universal Pictures sent to IGN confirmed that "We are moving the global release date to April 2021, with North America opening on April 2." Universal explained the reasoning behind the delay, saying "It's become clear that it won't be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/01/31/f9-fast-furious-9-official-trailer-1"] The full statement reads:
To our family of Fast fans everywhere,   We feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga.    That’s why it’s especially tough to let you know that we have to move the release date of the film.  It’s become clear that it won’t be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May.    We are moving the global release date to April 2021, with North America opening on April 2.   While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration.    Moving will allow our global family to experience our new chapter together.  We’ll see you next spring.    Much love, Your Fast Family
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=from-groot-to-dominic-toretto-vin-diesels-8-best-roles&captions=true"] Fans of the Fast franchise were particularly excited for Fast 9's release following the reveal of a major character's return in the debut trailer. Fast 9's director described why that character's return had to happen, while star Vin Diesel has continued to look toward the future of the franchise, having recently discussed whether Fast 10 could be split into two films. Just days ago reports suggested that Universal's Fast 9 and Disney's Black Widow wouldn't see delays due to COVID-19, and while Black Widow's release remains unchanged, Fast 9 is not the only film to see delays. In terms of other delays, A Quiet Place II was delayed a week before its release while No Time to Die was delayed to November 2020. IGN recently spoke with several film industry experts about the potential impact on the film industry of COVID-19. The NBA has also indefinitely suspended its season due to COVID-19, while the gaming industry has seen the cancellation of E3 2020 and a postponement of the Game Developers Conference. The Flash Movie: Billy Crudup Expected to Return as Barry Allen’s Dad

Billy Crudup is expected to reprise his role as Barry Allen's dad in the upcoming, standalone The Flash movie starring Ezra Miller. Crudup previously played Allen's father in the 2017 Justice League movie. Crudup signed on for the role of Henry Allen back in 2016 but had reportedly moved on from the role after portraying the character in one scene in Justice League. The Hollywood Reporter says Crudup signed a new deal for The Flash movie, and he'll work alongside Flash actor Ezra Miller, Ben Affleck's Batman, and Michael Keaton's Batman. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-flash-movies-possible-dceu-cameos&captions=true"] Crudup had been cast by original Flash director Rick Famuyiwa in 2016 but Famuyiwa departed from that project the same year. That's where The Flash's production problems began. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein stepped into the role of director in 2018 but left a year later in 2019. The film's current director, Andy Muschietti (It: Chapter One, It: Chapter Two) stepped into the role in 2019 and the movie is now expected to release in 2022. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/12/the-flash-movie-features-lots-of-superheroes-and-will-restart-the-dceu-dc-fandome"] The script is being written by Christina Hodson, who wrote last year's Birds of Prey, and will center around Barry Allen going back in time as the Flash to stop his mother from being murdered. It makes sense that Henry Allen will have a role in this story considering he had last been seen behind bars for committing that murder. Fans of the Flash know that's not exactly the case but only time will tell if the Flash is able to actually change the past. The Flash is expected to release in 2022. For more of The Flash, read about how the movie "restarts everything," but doesn't forget about the past, and then read about Batfleck's "substantial" role in the film. Cops Resumes Production Despite Cancellation, Will Only Air Internationally

After being canceled earlier this year amid protests in response to the killing of George Floyd, Cops has quietly begun filming new episodes — although they will not be airing in the United States. Instead, the new season will be aired to international markets. Production resumed for the long-running series in September, as reported by Entertainment Tonight, with a camera crew following the Spokane County Police Department in Washington state. It is currently unclear if other police departments will also be taking part in the upcoming season. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-tv-show-cancelled-or-announced-to-be-ending-in-2020&captions=true"] Cops, which has been on-air since 1989, joined a long list of shows that were either canceled or ending in 2020. It was set to begin filming its 33rd season before being pulled by Paramount Network. Paramount Network (previously Spike TV) told ET in June that it didn't "have any current or future plans" for Cops to return. A&E followed suit back in June, as well, pulling the plug on Live P.D. after four seasons on-air.
