Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered Announced With November Release Date
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered has been announced, and it's coming out for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 6. A Nintendo Switch release will follow on November 13.
The Criterion Games-developed Need For Speed Hot Pursuit came out 10 years ago and is still a fan-favorite. It's being released this November with updated visuals, all of its DLC, cross-platform multiplayer, and more in the form of a remaster from EA. You can check out the remaster's reveal in the trailer below:
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/05/need-for-speed-hot-pursuit-remastered-official-reveal-trailer"]
"Unleash a savage sense of speed both as an outlaw and a cop in this timeless racing experience updated for today's platforms," a blog post detailing the announcement reads. "Get cross-platform multiplayer and Autolog, enhanced visuals, all main DLC delivered at launch, and much more. It's time to reignite the pursuit."
This remaster will be presented with updated visuals across all platforms. The Nintendo Switch version runs at 1080p/30fps in its docked mode and 720p/30fps undocked. Depending on PC specifications, the PC version can play up to 4K/60fps and the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X can play at either 4K/30fps or 1080p/60fps. The base version of those consoles plays at 1080p/30fps.
"In addition to the listed improvements for the Nintendo Switch version, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions, (the game has also been) updated with upressed UI, higher resolution reflections, boosted textures, more particles, and improved AA/SSAO," the blog post reads.

As mentioned in the trailer above, the game's multiplayer will feature cross play and rankings will display on your friends' Speedwalls — leader boards — no matter what platform they play on. In terms of DLC, the remaster includes the SCPD Rebel Racer pack, the Super Sports pack, the Armed and Dangerous pack, the Lamborghini Untamed pack, and the Porsche Unleashed pack, all available at launch. This adds "an extra six hours of gameplay and more than 30 challenges," according to EA.
The remaster also includes new achievements, car colors, car wraps, reduced hard stops, an updated photo mode and gallery, multiple quality-of-life updates, and more.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Hot Pursuit was notable at the time of its release because it allowed you to race as vehicles on both sides of the law. You could race your best vehicle through Seacrest County's many roads or you could drive as the police, chasing down those who use the county's roads as race tracks. Check out our original review of Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, where we awarded the game a 9/10 and called it "pure over-the-top driving entertainment".

Genshin Impact May Have Made $50 Million Since Launch
Genshin Impact has managed 17 million downloads on mobile alone over the first four days of its release, with analysts estimating that it's grossed $50 million since launch.
The free-to-play action-RPG arrived on PlayStation 4, PC, iOS and Android on September 28, and mobile analytics company App Annie posted the downloads milestone on Twitter on October 4.
That huge early uptake means that the game is already a top grossing mobile title in across Asia, and in the US. Speaking to IGN, Daniel Ahmad, Senior Analyst at Niko Partners, estimates that the game has grossed $50 million in its first week, with the majority of that revenue coming from China, Japan, and the US. "The game had more than 20 million pre-registrations prior to launch, of which more than 5 million were from outside China", explains Ahmad. "This is a huge achievement not just for a Chinese developed game, but for a new original IP too." Genshin Impact has been compared to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild due to its visual aesthetic and design. The game is an open-world action-RPG with gachapon elements, and it has already proven to be quite the success on social media. A Nintendo Switch version is currently in the works too, with a release date unannounced. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/02/27/genshin-impact-12-minutes-of-gameplay"] It's the latest in a series of Chinese games that have caught western attention, which Ahmad says is part of a deliberate attempt to crack new markets: "As the mobile games market matures in China, developers are looking to reach new players, both outside China and on new platforms. Both small and large Chinese studios have been investing in more robust experiences that can scale to console and PC. As many have seen with previously announced games such as Lost Soul Aside, Bright Memory Infinite and Black Myth Wu Kong, Chinese game developers are beginning to make their mark in the West." "While the distribution and monetisation model for Genshin Impact are already accepted in China," Ahmad continues, "the game is popularising AAA free to play and gacha games in the West. [Developer] MiHoYo has worked to ensure that gamers can play the title without needing to pay to progress, while still being able to monetise from those who want to pay and obtain the best characters and equipment earlier." If you're interested in checking Genshin Impact out, take a look at our hands-on preview from March of this year to learn more about how it plays. We've also got some Genshin Impact guides to check out if you're already playing. Here's the skinny on acquiring wishes and here's an article explaining how you can play co-op with your friends. Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Co-op Mode Is Out Next Week
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the free co-op mode for Sucker Punch's latest game, will be out on PlayStation 4 on October 16, 2020.
Announced on PlayStation.Blog, the Legends update (v. 1.1) will also bring some improvements to single-player as well, including New Game+ with additional trophies and a Ghost Flower merchant, Armor Loadouts, a play time indicator, new options for Photo Mode and more.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/05/ghost-of-tsushima-version-11-update-trailer"]
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends was revealed back in August 2020, and it is a new, online cooperative multiplayer experience that features two-player story missions and four-player survival missions, as well as a Raid that will be released "weeks following launch." It is also said to be "haunting and fantastical, with locations and enemies inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology and an emphasis on cooperative combat and action."
To access Legends, players will have to visit the PlayStation Store from their PS4 and download the free unlock for the mode, which will allow you to quickly get into the new experience.
Once updated, Gyozen the Storyteller will appear in game and he is the "author and gatekeeper of the stories you'll find in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, and when you talk to him, he'll be happy to share one of his transportative stories about the 'Ghosts.'"
This will take you to the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends lobby, but you can also get to this lobby from the title menu, pause menu, or from and invite from a friend.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends' Classes
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will feature four classes - Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, and Assassin - that each have their own play-style and advantages. When you begin Legends, you will choose your starting class, and the others can be unlocked through play. Each class will start with its own unique ability, and an alternate ability can be unlocked as you progress. Class-specific Charms and ranged weapons can also be unlocked. Additionally, players can choose any combination of classes to play with friends, including each player taking on the role of the same class. The Samurai "can run straight toward combat and stay there, sustaining their health while chopping enemies down left and right." They also have the Hachiman's Fury ultimate attack that will "slash through enemies in a flurry of strikes. The Hunter "can stand on the edge of combat and snipe enemies before they even see you." Explosive arrows will also be available to slow down enemies, and the Eye of Uchitsune ultimate attack will "unleash multiple arrows straight at your enemies' heads." Ronin players "can revive their entire team with the Breath of Izanami ultimate ability." Also, and perhaps most importantly, they can summon a Spirit Dog, and yes, you can PET THE GOOD PUPPERS. The Assassin is meant for those who love doing massive damage with a single attack. They can utilize their Shadow Strike ultimate ability that will "allow you to teleport across the battlefield and directly strike your enemies." Lastly, they can wear "terrifying masks" that will surely strike fear into all enemies.Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Story Missions, Survival Missions, and Raid
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends' Story Missions are designed for two players and will tell the story "about what's really happening in Tsushima." As you progress, you will unlock higher difficulties, face new encounters, tougher enemies, bonus objectives, and be able to earn greater rewards. Survival Missions, on the other hand, support up to four players who must work together to fight off waves of enemies while defending different locations in Tsushima. Blessings will be able to be activated, like "ignite enemies" or "summon a Spirit Bear," and the longer you survive and the more bonus objectives you complete, the more reward can be earned. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/17/ghost-of-tsushima-legends-announcement-trailer"] The Raid will require "all your skill, top-tier gear, and a great 4-player team to be able to survive in Iyo's realm!" When released, the raid will be a epic, three-part adventure that will require teamwork and communication to overcome. Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will support Photo Mode as long as your teammates opt in, and this new mode is filled with new cosmetics that are unlocked through gameplay without any microtransactions. There will also be new trophies for Ghost of Tsushima: Legends that will not count towards the standard Ghost of Tsushima Platinum Trophy.Ghost of Tsushima Single-Player Campaign Updates
As previously mentioned, New Game+ will be added with the 1.1 update, and will start players at the open world, "shortly after Jin's initial confrontation with the Khan." All Techniques, Gear, and Vanity items previously obtained will carry over, and difficulty will be increased to provide more challenge, but it can be adjusted in the menu if it proves too much. Players will also be treated to a New Game+ horse that features a "vibrant red mane and unique saddle." New Charms will also be available alongside upgrades for Jin's sword, bow, and armor. The Ghost Flower merchant will appear in Ariake in New Game+ and will accept the newly added Ghost Flowers. These can be obtained by completing a Tale or activity and already have the reward, giving extra incentive to play through again. Ghost Flowers can be exchanged for Charms, new armor dyes, and other vanity gear only found in New Game+. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Have a tip for us? Want to discuss a possible story? Henry Cavill has revealed the first official look at The Witcher Season 2 by sharing two images of Geralt of Rivia suited up in his new armour.
Cavill shared the new photos on Instagram on Monday, alongside a quote from Time of Contempt, the second novel in the Witcher Saga written by Andrzej Sapkowski.
"'It may turn out,' said the white-haired man a moment later, 'that their comrades or cronies may ask what befell these evil men. Tell them the Wolf bit them. The White Wolf. And add that they should keep glancing over their shoulders. One day they'll look back and see the Wolf,'" he wrote in the caption.
Netflix also released the images on its NX Twitter account, offering fans a closer look at Cavill's return as Geralt. In the photos, the actor appears in an all-black studded leather outfit with large shoulder plates and extended wrist cuffs, together with some belt and buckle detailing to ensure that he's harnessed in for all of the battles and bloodshed that may lie ahead in Season 2 of The Witcher.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/15/the-witcher-season-2-will-see-all-characters-exist-on-same-timeline-ign-news"]
Cavill previously spoke about his commitment to the character, as he revealed that he would sometimes roll about in the mud in order to achieve Geralt's unkempt look. He admitted that he was so devoted to the transformation that he wanted to try and get "as much of the world on him" so that he "looked like he had lived within it," so don't expect his armour to look quite as pristine when it debuts next season.
Netflix announced that filming had resumed on The Witcher's highly anticipated second season in August following a five-month production shutdown as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Witcher Season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in 2021, with Season 3 now seemingly confirmed to follow at a later date.
