Cyberpunk 2077’s Multiplayer Microtransactions Won’t Be ‘Aggressive’

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red has made some clarifications about the game's multiplayer-only microtransactions, noting that they won't be "aggressive." In an earnings call, CEO Adam Kicinski was asked how aggressive the studio plans to be with multiplayer monetization in Cyberpunk 2077. " We're never aggressive towards our fans! We treat them fairly and we're friendly. So of course not - we won't be aggressive - but you can expect great things to be bought," Kicinski explained. "The goal is to design monetization in a way that makes people happy to spend money. I'm not trying to be cynical or hide something; it's about creating a feeling of value." Kicinski notes that Cyberpunk is "a great setting for selling things," but that the studio's approach won't "upset gamers." The studio's Twitter account later clarified its position on Twitter in light of Kicinski's comments, making clear that the game's single player portion will be entirely microtransaction-free. "Cyberpunk 2077 is a single-player game with zero microtransactions," the tweet begins. "One single purchase. No tricks." In a follow-up reply, the account noted that Cyberpunk's multiplayer component will feature some microtransactions, as previously revealed. The only paid element of Cyberpunk 2077's single player portion is likely to be its expansions, which will arrive after release, alongside smaller free DLC packs. In other Cyberpunk 2077 news, the game recently entered the "final stretch of development." If you want to learn more about how it plays, check out our preview of Cyberpunk 2077 from earlier this year. Super Mario 3D All-Stars Is Already Amazon’s Second Best-Selling Game of 2020

The game isn't even out yet, but Super Mario 3D All-Stars is already Amazon's second best-selling game of 2020 in the US. Slipping in behind Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Amazon 2020 bestsellers chart, the collection is rising up the ranks as fans pre-order ahead of its September 18 release. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/03/super-mario-3d-all-stars-official-trailer"] The 3D All-Stars package contains three classic Mario adventure games: Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy. The game is set to receive a limited digital and physical release, and will only be on sale until the end of March 2021, which has helped to drive pre-orders. There are a host of new features coming to the updated ports, including a new 16:9 aspect ratio for Super Mario Sunshine and optimised Joy-Con motion controls for Super Mario Galaxy. The collection will also give access to a Super Mario music player, which lets fans browse through the soundtrack of all three games. [poilib element="commerceDeal" parameters="slug=preorder-super-mario-3d-all-stars&type=list"] In other 3D All-Stars news, a now-removed page has teased that Mario's 35th-anniversary celebrations may have been delayed by nearly 5 months. Fans have also been confused by how the motion controls will work in Super Mario Galaxy's Nintendo Switch Lite release. Xbox Series S Specs Seemingly Leak

Xbox Series S' specs have seemingly leaked through a trailer, saying that the console will feature a 512GB SSD, run games at 1440p up to 120 frames per second, and will support raytracing. After a series of leaks and a confirmation that the console will arrive at a $299 / £249.99 price point, a trailer posted on Twitter seems to go into some finer details: A list of Xbox Series S details includes:
  • All-Digital
  • 1440p at up to 120FPS
  • DirectX Raytracing
  • Variable Rate Shading
  • Variable Refresh Rate
  • Ultra-Low Latency
  • Custom 512GB SSD
  • 4K Streaming Media Playback
  • 4K Upscaling for Games
The trailer also shows how the console is 60% smaller than Xbox Series X, and explains that its SSD uses the same Velocity Architecture as Xbox Series X's equivalent - which should mean short load times and seamless game switching. Despite all of the new information today, we still don't know how to pre-order an Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, but Xbox says we'll hear more "soon" - so we'll hopefully learn about that in the not-too-distant future. Xbox Series S Price and Design Confirmed, Series X Release Date and Price Reportedly Leaked

Update: Microsoft has confirmed the existence of Xbox Series S, and that it will retail at $299 / £249.99. It will also be "the smallest Xbox ever", according to the company's tweet. The earlier leaked design has also been confirmed, but no release date or pricing for Xbox Series X has been announced. However, given the truth of the earlier leaks, it feels likely that other details are correct. A separate leak now seems to have confirmed many of the Xbox Series S specs, including that it will support up to 1440p / 120 FPS, raytracing, and include a 512GB custom SSD. Xbox says we'll learn more "soon", so keep an eye on IGN for all the news as it comes in. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Original story: The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will allegedly both launch on November 10, 2020, and will cost USD $499 and USD $299, respectively. Furthermore, the console design for the Xbox Series S has also supposedly leaked. As reported by Windows Central, multiple sources have confirmed that the Xbox Series X will cost $499 at retail, with a $35 per month Xbox All Access financing option, while the entry-level Xbox Series S will cost $299, and will have a $25 per month Xbox All Access financing option. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=confirmed-xbox-series-x-games&captions=true"] As for the Xbox Series S' console design, Thurrott's Brad Sams revealed a leak that seems to show the first look of Microsoft's second, cheaper next-gen Xbox, and it looks to be more in-line with form factor of the Xbox One rather than the Xbox Series X. The big differences for the console, however, appear to be the giant cooling vent on top of the console and the apparent lack of a disc drive. The image has $299 as the "estimated retail price," but Windows Central's sources appear to indicate that this may end up being the final price. Another short video has leaked and shows the Xbox Series S in comparison to the Xbox Series X, showing how easily it would fit inside the bigger design of the Series X. This is hardly the first leak for the Xbox Series S, as Microsoft's second, cheaper next-gen Xbox was also reportedly confirmed by a controller packaging leak. While Microsoft has yet to officially reveal the Xbox Series S, it has been slowly revealing more details on the Xbox Series X and, even though it won't have Halo Infinite at its launch in November 2020, it will be a powerful console that will take advantage of Xbox Game Pass, Backward Compatibility, and "More than 50 new games planned for this year across generations and optimized for Xbox Series X, including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Dirt 5, Gears Tactics, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Watch Dogs: Legion." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=confirmed-xbox-series-x-games&captions=true"] While we wait for Microsoft to finally reveal its full launch plans for these two new, next-gen consoles, be sure to check out our guide on where to sign up for Xbox Series X pre-order info. The Venture Bros. Cancelled After Seven Seasons on Adult Swim

The Venture Bros. has been canceled by Adult Swim after seven seasons, and creator Christopher McCulloch and the show's writers found out the news as they were in the middle of writing season 8. As reported by Variety, McCulloch announced the unfortunate news on Twitter, saying, "unfortunately, it’s true: ‘Venture Bros.’ has been canceled. We got the highly disappointing news a few months ago, while we were writing what would have been season 8. We thank you, our amazing fans, for 17 years of your kind (and patient) attention. And, as always, we love you." When reached for comment by Variety, Adult Swim did say, "we also want more Venture Bros. and have been working with Jackson [Publick] and Doc [Hammer] to find another way to continue the Venture Bros. story." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/07/21/the-venture-bros-rank-the-shows-best-moments"] Jackson Publick is a pseudonym for McCulloch, while Doc Hammer is a pseudonym for co-writer Eric Hammer. The Venture Bros. was one of Adult Swim's longest-running original series, with its pilot episode airing in 2003. The show followed the Venture family, which included teenagers Hank and Dean, super-scientist father Dr. Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture, bodyguard and secret agent Brock Samson, and more. Prior to its cancellation, we explored why The Venture Bros. was such an important show and how it truly was a smorgasbord of pop-culture hilarity.
