Apple Announces a September 15th Hardware Event
After first teasing an incoming Apple Event with a special Twitter hashtag, Apple officially announced its next event will be held on September 15th.
The event's tagline "Time Flies" seems to suggest there will be an Apple Watch 6 announcement. The wearable itself is rumored to include a faster processor while adding more health tracking features including blood oxygen monitor and improved sleep tracking. There also may be a new affordable Apple Watch to replace the current Series 3 model.
As with most Apple Events, we expect the Cupertino-based company will be introducing more than one piece of hardware. A new iPad is potentially in the cards, and specifically, rumors seem to suggest there will be a replacement for the iPad Air, which is Apple's mid-range iOS tablet.
Other potential product announcements could include Apple's first official pair of noise-canceling headphones called the AirPods Studio, an updated HomePod 2, and Apple AirTags that'll help you keep track of your gadgets and keys.
While Apple has been rumored to launch four new iPhones this year – including an iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Max, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max – it doesn't seem likely we'll see them at this upcoming event. On an earnings call in July, Apple confirmed new smartphones would be delayed from their usual September launch time frame.
Apple will be kicking off its event on September 15th at 10 am PT. You'll be able to watch a live stream of the event from their website and of course, IGN will be reporting on all the news live as it happens.

Jelly Belly Founder Is Giving Away a Candy Factory in Return for Golden Tickets
Jelly Belly's founder is on his way to becoming a real life Willy Wonka after announcing a golden ticket competition.
Before Jelly Belly founder David Klein made this recent announcement, the likes of Willy Wonka seemed fictitious and only to be found in books, movies, and TV. Klein, however, announced that he is launching a golden ticket competition where one winner will receive their very own candy factory, as reported by KTLA5.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/20/crazy-limited-edition-willy-wonka-pinball-machine-may-be-most-expensive-ever-heres-why"]
"It's going to be a treasure hunt across the whole entire country," Klein said in the competition announcement video. "We're going to be hiding these (golden dog tag-like necklaces) — we've already hidden quite a few of them — in every state."
Winners will receive $5000 with a separate grand prize of receiving a key to a candy factory going to just one ultimate winner. While Willy Wonka made winning a golden ticket, as easy as purchasing a chocolate bar, Klein is instead going a different route.
Each state has one riddle available for purchase on the competition's official site. The riddle that corresponds to each state can be purchased as a golden ticket for about $50. Upon purchasing the golden ticket riddle, upon the riddle's timed release, you'll be sent a special riddle that reveals the location of that state's golden dog tag-like necklace. While there's only one riddle that corresponds to each state, the riddle can be purchased by anyone for viewing.
Find the necklace and you'll win $5000. All players, winners and losers, will be able to join in on the "ultimate treasure hunt" at a later time. It's in this treasure hunt that participants will compete to win a candy factory.
It's important to note that Klein, despite founding Jelly Belly, is no longer associated with the company as he sold his shares of the company in the 1980s. He has started at least two additional candy-like companies so it's possible the prize of a candy factory will be keys to one of his new company's factories.
"We're going to have the ultimate treasure hunt where the winner will be receiving a key — a key to one of our candy factories," Klein said before cheekily acknowledging how similar this is to the premise of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. "We're looking for you, Charlie."

First Footage from Dune Released Ahead of Trailer
The first trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune will premiere tomorrow, September 9, directly on Twitter. This is the first real look at the highly-anticipated sci-fi adaptation of the novel from author Frank Herbert. For now, here's a 45-seconds teaser.
Tomorrow’s trailer premiere will be the first footage for Villeneuve’s adaptation which features an all-star cast that includes Timothee Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, and more. Villeneuve previously directed other sci-fi films such as Arrival and Blade Runner 2049. Dune is a film adaptation of Herbert’s 1965 novel of the same name. Dune is a space opera set in the far future about various noble houses in distant galaxies as they vie for control of the planet Arrakis and its valuable resource, a drug called “the spice.” There was also a 1984 film adaptation by David Lynch starring Kyle McLachlan. It wasn’t very well received, though it has gone on to achieve some kind of cult status. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-delayed-movie-due-to-coronavirus-so-far&captions=true"] Dune is still scheduled to be released on December 18, 2020, though given the shifting landscape of theater releases it’s unclear if these plans will remain in place. Warner Bros, who is distributing Dune, released Tenet as a theaters-only premiere so the same strategy could be used for Dune. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt T.M.
