Legends of Tomorrow is getting yet another Legend in Season 6: Lisseth Chavez (Chicago P.D.) has just been cast in the role of Esperanza “Spooner” Cruz. Described as "tough and self-sufficient, Spooner Cruz lives off the grid, devising ingenious tech for the detection of — and defense against — space aliens. And while some might call her paranoid, she calls it being prepared. A survivor of a childhood alien encounter, Spooner now believes she has the ability to communicate telepathically with aliens — making her the perfect recruit for Waverider captains Sara Lance, Ava Sharpe and the Legends who, in Season 6, will be hunting down extraterrestrials who have been displaced throughout history. Having spent last season tracking down the Loom of Fate in order to bring back their slain comrades, the Legends must now save history from a foe like none they have ever encountered in the past or future…space aliens! Godfree described the new character as "a young Latinx woman from Texas who was kidnapped by aliens and [has] a thirst for vengeance." However, Godfree added, Lisseth is "not going to be [one of] the lovable losers" that we're used to, and is more "tough" compared to the other Legends. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Sprinkled throughout the first three episodes of The Boys' second season are Easter eggs in the form of posters and even an old Budweiser advertisement featuring a superhero called Liberty. These brief glimpses of the forgotten hero never gave us a clear image of who this heroine might be... until now. Episode 4, titled "Nothing Like It in the World," revealed the shocking truth that Stormfront is somehow Liberty. While we still don't know how Liberty looks so good after 50+ years on the job (Compound V perhaps?), we spoke to showrunner Eric Kripke to learn more details about her transformation into Stormfront.

The Boys Season 2: Is Liberty from the Comic Books?

While Stormfront is a character from the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson who was created by the Nazis, Liberty is a completely new creation from Kripke and his writing team. While there are some key differences (the main one being that in the comics, Stormfront is a guy) it's very clear that she exhibits many of her comic book counterpart's beliefs. "From day one, I wanted to bring Stormfront in as a character, but we wanted to change it up as we do with a lot of the elements in the show," Kripke told IGN. "We wanted it to reflect 2020. And the truth is today, a lot of hate is packaged in this sort of savvy, charming social media package. Like, 'Hey, we're just iconoclastic free thinkers over here,' but really we've been pedaling hateful s**t for decades.' So we wanted to reflect that. So we start off with this character who's savvy and a free thinker, but then, once you scratch the surface you realize how hateful her thoughts and feelings are. And now, in episode 4, we realize that not only does she have those hateful thoughts, but she's also very old and she's holding onto very old hateful thoughts that's she's now just packaging in new ways." However, he did hint at why Vought may have given her a new persona. "So we knew that Stormfront is much older than she lets on," Kripke explained. "[Liberty] just came from a conversation of, well, Vought probably changed her image every couple of decades and just moved her around, like a catholic priest. And so, who would she have been in the '70s or '60s? Who would she have been if she had even greater freedom to be openly racist? So it emerged from that conversation." We also found it interesting that for a character called Liberty, she doesn't really live up to her name - Kripke explained why. "It falls under a very typical Vought M.O.," Kripke said. "They give their heroes very marketable names. And the heroes in many ways exhibit the exact opposite qualities of the names they're professing: Queen Maeve doesn't act much like a queen, Homelander isn't really protecting his homeland, and Liberty is about the opposite of liberty." Head of Xbox Phil Spencer took multiple video interviews in July 2020 with an Xbox Series S simply sitting on his shelf, and no one noticed. The official Xbox Twitter account revealed the fun fact that in the #GAMELAB20 Keynote Fireside, Spencer had the unannounced Xbox Series S on a shelf over his left shoulder the whole time. Furthermore, Spencer also spoke with iJustine and Jenna Ezarik around the same time and also had the console in plain sight.
