DC Comics Layoffs Reportedly Affect a Third of Editorial Staff, Including EIC
DC Comics and DC Universe employees are said to have been heavily impacted by WarnerMedia's recent restructuring, with several high-profile layoffs taking place at both divisions.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comic book powerhouse experienced a major shake-up on Monday, as sources claimed that "roughly one-third of DC's editorial ranks" faced losing their positions, with editor-in-chief Bob Harris said to be amongst those that have exited as part of the corporate realignment.

Other employees that have reportedly been affected by the companywide layoffs include senior VP of publishing strategy and support services Hank Kanalz, VP of marketing and creative services Jonah Weiland, VP global publishing initiatives and digital strategy Bobbie Chase, senior story editor Brian Cunningham, and executive editor Mark Doyle, who oversaw the rollout of DC's Black Label graphic novels. Amid the streamlining, Jim Lee remains DC Chief Creative Officer.
DC Universe, the subscription service dedicated entirely to DC content, is also said to have been impacted by the company's restructuring efforts, with the "majority of staff" reportedly being laid off in a move that insiders claim was "widely expected as WarnerMedia shifts its focus to new streaming service HBO Max," with some DC Universe shows already having made the move over to the HBO Max streaming platform.

Bill Fagerbakke returns to voice Patrick, with Nickelodeon intoducing a number of new characters and cast members in a press release:
"Tom Wilson (SpongeBob SquarePants, Back to the Future) as Cecil Star, Patrick's fun-loving, happy-go-lucky dad who always puts his family first; Cree Summer (A Different World, Inspector Gadget) as Bunny Star, Patrick's loving, sea star mom who is a kooky oddball; Jill Talley (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Squidina Star, Patrick's eight-year-old little sister who sees herself as Patrick's executive producer for his imaginary TV show; and Dana Snyder (The Penguins of Madagascar, Chowder) as GrandPat Star, Patrick's genius grandpat, the most intelligent member of the Star family. Summer also voices Grandma Tentacles, Squidward's grandma.

SpongeBob Squarepants' best friend is on his way to getting his own spinoff series called The Patrick Star Show, which will see the pink starfish become the host of his own late-night talk show.
According to Deadline, Nickelodeon is in the process of finalizing deals for a 13-episode order of The Patrick Star Show, a new animated series coming from the same creative team as the original SpongeBob Squarepants show.
[ignvideo width=610 height=374 url=http://www.ign.com/videos/2015/09/25/ign-uk-podcast-299-the-best-90s-tv-shows-to-watch-growing-up]
The new series will reportedly center around Patrick and his family, with Bikini Bottom's shirtless invertebrate heading straight for stardom as the presenter of his own late-night talk show, which will apparently be in a similar vein as The Larry Sanders Show and Comedy Bang! Bang!
SpongeBob veteran Bill Fagerbakke will continue to voice the main character, but will be joined by "a largely new cast voicing new characters, with SpongeBob cast members expected to make occasional appearances, reprising their roles."
No further details were shared about the other cast members that have signed up to dive into the underwater universe, even though the series' voice actors have reportedly already started to record their lines for the project behind the scenes.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Delayed to 2021
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has been delayed to 2021.
The news was revealed by the official Bloodlines 2 Twitter account, which posted a statement saying that Paradox Interactive and Hardsuit Labs have delayed Bloodlines 2 in order to "deliver the best game possible," and a "worthy successor to the original Bloodlines game."
"Due to the quality bar and ambitions we have set for ourselves, we have made the difficult decision that we need more time," the statement reads. "This means that our goal to release in 2020 is no longer possible. Moving launch is one of the changes we are making to ensure the best player experience possible."
The tweet also notes that we should hear more information about launch timing "and other organizational changes" in the coming months, but a new release date is not set in stone right now. "We understand this will be a disappointment to many of you, but we also appreciate how our ambition is echoed through many parts of the community," the statement ends. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 was previously delayed beyond its initial Q1 2020 launch window back in October of 2019. It will now launch at an indeterminate point in 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. You can check out our preview of the game from E3 2019 here. [poilib element="accentDivider"]The Last of Us 2 Will Add Permadeath and Grounded Difficulty Options
The Trophy list for The Last of Us Part 2 has been updated and now includes two new trophies referencing additional difficulty settings: Grounded and Permadeath.
The Last of Us Part 2 appears to be adding two additional settings in the near future based on these two new trophies. Permadeath, or permanent death, is pretty self-explanatory meaning players will likely only have one life throughout the whole game. Permadeath modes for other titles typically mean players must start again from the beginning if they die a single time.
[caption id="attachment_239108" align="alignnone" width="3840"] Screenshot by IGN.[/caption]
Meanwhile Grounded is a reference to a mode from the first Last of Us title that was released post-launch. Grounded was an ultra-high difficulty mode that tripled enemy damage, removed the HUD and “listen” ability, and pretty much stripped the world of supplies. Grounded and Permadeath appear to be hardcore features for players who might enjoy an added bit of challenge.
The inclusion of these two trophies suggests Grounded and Permadeath will be added to The Last of Us 2 at some point, though it’s unclear exactly when.
On top of multiple difficulty settings, The Last of Us 2 features various accessibility settings, so much so that there are too many to list. But some highlights include Enhanced Listen MOde, Skip Puzzle options, various subtitle options, and combat adjustments.

Call of Duty 2020 Teaser Set for Later This Week [Update]
Update:
According to Noah, the new timer for August 14 is just the "first step" towards the Call of Duty 2020 reveal. Meaning whatever premieres at 12 pm ET on Friday will just be yet another puzzle piece building towards the larger reveal.
[poilib element="accentDivider"] Original Story: IGN received a mysterious crate from Activision that seems to be tied to a new Call of Duty. The crate, which contains a slideshow projector and slides are part of an Alternate Reality game that leads to a website announcing another teaser for a new Call of Duty at 12 pm EST on Friday, August 14, 2020. Last week, Activision sent various members of the press crates with instructions not to open them until Monday, August 10, 2020. However, even after opening the crates there was still a mystery needing to be solved. Check out IGN’s gallery below for the contents of the mysterious Call of Duty crate. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=call-of-duty-mystery-box&captions=true"] Streamer @NoahJ456 appears to be the first person to solve the mysterious ARG with the help of his community. The answer to the puzzle sent treasure hunters to the website pawntakespawn.com/tv where a mysterious timer is set for 12 o’clock. A further look into the source code suggests a reveal is set for Friday, with some kind of video premiere. The teaser is likely for a new Call of Duty game that Activision has confirmed during its quarterly investor calls. The title is developed by Treyarch and Raven Software. The new Call of Duty will integrate the popular free-to-play Warzone mode, but other than that no other details have been revealed. Check back with IGN this Friday where we’ll hopefully have coverage of the next Call of Duty. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt T.M. MacGruber Series Officially Announced
MacGruber is coming back to kick ass and rip throats.
Peacock, NBCUniversal's new streaming service, announced Monday that it's ordered eight half-hour episodes of MacGruber.
Creator-star Will Forte is back to play the world's dumbest tough guy action hero in the series, which he will also write and executive produce alongside John Solomon and Jorma Taccone.
Taccone, who directed the Macgruber movie, will also direct the series.
Lorne Michaels, John Goldwyn, Andrew Singer and Erin David are also exec producers on MacGruber, which began as a skit on Saturday Night Live before hitting the big screen in 2010.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=snl-stars-best-comedies&captions=true"]
Although a critical and box office disappointment upon release -- even after a promo appearance where MacGruber almost got annihilated on WWE's Monday Night RAW -- MacGruber developed a cult following over the years. Forte went on to star in the Emmy-nominated series The Last Man on Earth and the acclaimed 2013 film Nebraska.
So what will Peacock's MacGruber be about beyond the inevitable deluge of dick jokes and the title character's inability to plan? Who will he fight now that he no longer has Cunth to pound? Well, here's the official plot synopsis:
"After rotting in prison for over a decade, America’s ultimate hero and uber patriot MacGruber (Will Forte) is finally released. His mission: to take down a mysterious villain from his past—Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth. With the entire world in the crosshairs, MacGruber must race against time to defeat the forces of evil -- only to find that evil... may be lurking within."
No word yet on whether Forte's co-stars Kristen Wiig and Ryan Phillippe will also reprise their roles (as Vicki St. Elmo and Dixon Piper, respectively) for the series. In our MacGruber review, we said "Forte and Wiig deliver a comedy masterclass, with the pair seemingly prepared to do anything to raise a laugh."

Twitch Prime Rebrands as Prime Gaming
Update:
Amazon confirmed the branding change for Twitch Prime today into Prime Gaming. As per the leaks, Prime Gaming will be free for all Amazon Prime members and include benefits like free in-game content, free games, and a monthly channel subscription.
Amazon is promising exclusive content for titles like Grand Theft Auto Online, Red Dead Online, Apex Legends, FIFA 20, League of Legends, and more. Members can also claim free monthly PC games they can keep forever.
[poilib element="accentDivider"]
Original Story: Twitch Prime is allegedly being rebranded as Prime Gaming, according to a leaked guidebook Twitch partners recently received.
Games insider Rod Breslau tweeted pictures today of an email allegedly sent to Twitch partners that indicate the Amazon-owned streaming subscription service will be rebranded to Prime Gaming today at 10am Pacific / 1 pm Eastern / 5pm UK.
Prime Gaming is, according to the leaked guidebook, a service "that helps members improve their game experience by offering exclusive and exciting content for the games they already love, and by introducing them to new games they will eventually love." It will be free to all Amazon Prime members, much like Twitch Prime has been for years.
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-2020-video-game-release&captions=true"]
"The Prime Gaming experience presents a massive and comprehensive catalog of in-game content, including exclusive and time-limited items for the world's most popular games on all current gaming platforms," the guidebook reads. "It also includes rotating packages of full PC games that can be owned and kept forever at no additional cost and a free monthly channel subscription to be spent on a Twitch.tv channel."
Breslau tweeted a screenshot of an alleged email from Twitch sent to Twitch partners:
"After four years, Twitch Prime will be rebranding to Prime Gaming to make it clear for Prime Gaming members to discover all the gaming benefits their membership offers, including must-have content for the world's most played games, and free monthly subscriptions to help you grow your audience from the millions of worldwide Amazon Prime members," the email reads.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/20/the-twitch-streamer-whos-reinventing-the-platform"]
The email also includes a list of "emotional benefits" and "functional benefits." The emotional benefits include positive surprises from drop of announced titles and perks, a sense of value from the service, enjoyment of new games and new ways to play, and a feeling of uniqueness with exclusive items not available by other means. Functionally, Prime Gaming includes in-game upgrades, boosts, skins, and more for specific games, free PC games each month, a monthly Twitch.tv subscription for free, and limited discounts.
The official announcement is expected to arrive in just a few hours.

Tron 3 With Jared Leto Finds Director
Good news from the Grid, Tron fans. The third movie is beginning to gain momentum at Disney, with Deadline reporting the studio has tapped Lion director Garth Davis to helm Tron 3, with Jared Leto expected to star.
Deadline notes, "Tron would mark Davis’ first tentpole, and though he is not known for big-budget projects, insiders say Davis aggressively pursued the job, eventually winning over execs."
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-best-movies-on-disney&captions=true"]
Deadline is quick to clarify that while Tron 3 is currently in development at Disney, it hasn't yet been given an official greenlight by the studio, so there's no guarantee the new movie will actually see the light of day. Still, ten years after the release of Tron: Legacy, a followup is looking more and more likely.
Word of a Leto-driven Tron movie first surfaced in 2017, with The Hollywood Reporter indicating the film would be a franchise reboot rather than a direct sequel to Legacy. Leto is reportedly playing a new character named Ares, one who is said to have been a key part of the abandoned Tron 3 script. That could imply the reboot is still part of the same universe as the previous two films, but it's unclear if characters like Garrett Hedlund's Sam Flynn or Olivia Wilde's Quorra will return.
Unfortunately, Tron himself likely won't be appearing, as Bruce Boxleitner confirmed he's "done" with the franchise. That said, Boxleitner did reunite with his original Tron costume earlier in 2020 for Disney+ series Prop Culture.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2015/11/16/tron-legacy-official-trailer"]
Tron: Legacy co-producer Justin Springer is on board to produce the new movie. In the event the film moves forward, Leto and his producing partner Emma Ludbrook would also help produce in some capacity.

Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire Episode 3 Coming Soon
CD Projekt Red premiered a new episode of its Night City Wire livestream showcase for Cyberpunk 2077, but another episode is just around the corner.
At the end of Night City Wire Episode 2, CD Projekt Red announced that Episode 3 will premiere "soon." Considering Cybperunk 2077 is only months away from release, CD Projekt will likely be dropping more updates in anticipation of the delayed launch.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/10/cyberpunk-2077-lifepath-choices-trailer"]
Night City Wire is CD Projekt Red's ongoing video updates on the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. Episode 2 focused on music, weapons, and the three branching paths players can begin their journey into Night City on.
IGN covered the three starter paths - Nomad, Street Kid, and Corpo - in our extensive hands-on preview.
CD Projekt also detailed some of the processes behind the music in the RPG, going behind the scenes with Swedish rock band Refused who provided the sound and voice for Johnny Silverhand's band.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/10/cyberpunk-2077-weapons-developer-qa"]
Lastly, a deep dive into the different weapons in Cyberpunk 2077. Like similar RPGs, weapons will come in many different types, stats, and rarity levels. But the rarest level of weapons, Legendary Weapons, will also be the most difficult to acquire. That's because key characters may already own these Legendary weapons, and the only way to acquire them is to take it from them, by force if necessary.
