LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Delayed to 2021
After months of silence, TT Games has unveiled more about its ambitious new LEGO adventure to a galaxy far, far away. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Shown off at Gamescom 2020's Opening Night Live, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga's new trailer showcased some of the famous recreated scenes, gameplay, and humor to come. However, WB Games also confirmed the next LEGO Star Wars game has been delayed to spring 2021, while also confirming plans for PS5 and Xbox Series X versions.

Earlier this year, TT Games released new key art for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, teasing its franchise-spanning story, and we later learned that several real-world LEGO sets will include codes to unlock content in-game. A LEGO Star Wars release date was seemingly announced on the weekly Star Wars Show, but the episode was later re-edited to remove the release date announcement.
Unveiled at E3 last year, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga isn't a remake of past LEGO Star Wars games but rather a new entry that looks to shake up the LEGO game formula in some major ways.

The Sims 4 Star Wars Expansion Hits Next Month
The Sims 4 is getting a big Star Wars expansion next month with The Sims 4: Journey to Batuu.

The first-look trailer showcased some of the locales and characters from Galaxy's Edge, like Vi Moradi and Oga's Cantina, plus many more familiar faces and droids. EA's official description reads:
"Hone your lightsaber skills, befriend a droid, and get ready to unlock missions for the Resistance, First Order, or scoundrels. The more you accomplish, the closer you are to meeting iconic Star Wars characters like Rey and Kylo Ren.
"In The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu, players will leave their homes to travel to the planet of Batuu where they’ll have to make a choice on which faction to work with, as the actions their Sims take will lead to control of the Black Spire Outpost. Sims can choose to support Rey and Vi Moradi as part of the Resistance, pledge loyalty to the First Order under Kylo Ren or shift their focus to gaining credits with Hondo Ohnaka and the scoundrels. As Sims embark on exciting missions, they’ll increase their reputation, unlock new artifacts and one-of-kind clothing, customize their own droids and create a coveted lightsaber. After players leave Batuu and return home, they can even bring back some of these items, like their lightsaber, to enjoy with other Sims they’ve already created.

12 Minutes was announced at the Xbox briefing at E3 2019 and we also did a hands on preview where we called it a "riveting Groundhog Day-style murder mystery." The psychological thriller takes players through a 12-minute time loop where a man who introduces himself as a police officer shows up at your door, accuses your wife of murder, and then kills you. Players are tasked with using each iteration as an opportunity to change the outcome and put a stop to the loop.
Twelve Minutes is set to have a release date in 2020 and will launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Release Date Announced
During Opening Night Live at gamescom 2020, the first animated short for Blizzard's World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion premiered, alongside a release date for the upcoming Shadowlands expansion.
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands will be available on October 27, Blizzard confirmed during the showcase.
Additionally, Blizzard offered a look at Afterlives: Bastion, the animated short that gave us a peek into one of the five realms of the Shadowlands and the Kyrian covenant, its inhabitants that are referred to as "steadfast guardians who carry the souls of the dead."
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands was revealed at BlizzCon 2019 and will bring a new leveling system, an "ever-changing dungeon" called the Tower of the Damned, and five new realms. Outside of Bastion, the other realms include Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, Revendreth, and The Maw. Since Afterlife: Bastion is the first of four animated trailers planned for Shadowlands, it's possible we'll get a closer look at each realm and its respective covenants with the next few shorts.
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is set to have a release date in 2020. Make sure to check out our gamescom 2020 schedule to see what other gameplay reveals are planned for the show.
Unknown 9: Awakening Is an Action-Adventure Set in Universe of Conspiracy and Mystery
In today's Opening Night Live, we saw a brief, somewhat cryptic look at a brand new game, Unknown 9: Awakening – which we can tell you is a 3rd-person, narrative-driven action-adventure game, set in the new transmedia Unknown 9 universe, and being built by game developers with a AAA background for PC and next-gen consoles.
Unknown 9 as a whole is a "storyworld" being created by Montreal-based Reflector Entertainment, which is so far planned to encompass books, comics, podcasts and games, all set within a universe based on the real world, but built around historical mythology and conspiracy theories, and filled with shadowy organizations trying to uncover or protect dangerous knowledge. Speaking to IGN, Alexis Ottier (Unknown 9 IP Producer) and Tomas Street (Unknown 9 Narrative Director) say the storyworld has been inspired by the likes of The X-Files, The Matrix, Heroes, and Indiana Jones.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/27/unknown-9-awakening-cinematic-trailer"]
Unknown 9: Awakening will be set around 100 years before most of the other Unknown 9 stories and, according to Ottier and Street, is "designed as an initiatory experience", offering background knowledge of the storyworld's lore and mythology. The idea is that Awakening will be a perfect starting point for Unknown 9, but will also illuminate and explain elements introduced in the universe's books, podcasts, and comics.
Beginning in Kolkata, India, Awakening centres on Haroona, "a street-smart survivor that struggled to stay alive for most of her childhood." As we see in the trailer, she discovers the ability to slow the perception of time, and manipulate the energy of people's bodies. Ottier and Street expand on that:
"Haroona has also struggled to understand her mysterious ability to manipulate the unseen. It is only when Haroona meets her mentor that she begins to consciously access the wholly mysterious hidden dimension known as the Fold… propelling her on a journey to unlock the mysteries of this new realm and the secrets found therein…"
Reflector won't speak more about the gameplay itself beyond saying that it's "a 3rd-person, narrative-driven, action-adventure game", but Ottier and Street do hint at the story content, saying it contains "themes of self-discovery, redemption and the exploration of an unknown world, hidden in plain sight. It’s a journey into ancient secret societies, hidden dimensions and humanity’s forgotten legacy."
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=unknown-9-awakening-screenshots-and-exclusive-concept-art&captions=true"]
That story will interact directly and indirectly with the rest of the Unknown 9 storyworld: "Threads started in other products are picked up in another," explain Ottier and Street, "the game feeds into the comic, that feeds into the podcast, and vice versa. Some connections are direct, such as intersecting characters or artefacts. Others are more subtle, or even hidden. One thing’s for sure, players who want to keep following the journeys of Haroona and the cast of Unknown 9: Awakening won't have a hard time finding connections."
Looking at Reflector's LinkedIn reveals that many of the lead positions on Awakening come from a AAA background, with many lead positions filled by ex-Ubisoft employees that have worked on Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, Far Cry and more. That should give some clue as to the quality of product Reflector is aiming for when we do see it running for the first time.
Set for release on PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One and PC, no release window has been set for Awakening, but if you want to start checking out the Unknown 9 universe, you can read the storyworld's first book, Genesis, right now.
