Cyberpunk 2077 News Broadcast Coming in June

Cyberpunk 2077 looks to be getting an E3-esque news broadcast on June 11, titled Night City Wire. Announced on Twitter with a simple caption - "GET READY!" - and a logo, we don't know about the contents of the broadcast at time of writing. Given the timing, it would seem likely that this is a replacement for CD Projekt Red's usual presentations at the now-canceled E3. The past two years have seen shorter public announcements - with bonus Keanu Reeves - and lengthy behind-closed-doors gameplay showings that have been revealed later in the year. With Cyberpunk 2077 increasingly close to its September 17 release date, it feels likely that we'd see more gameplay, and perhaps a breakdown of its still somewhat mysterious storyline. It's also possible that we'd learn about the game's DLC plans, with CD Projekt Red recently suggesting that it will reveal expansions before release. One thing we can expect is some fairly... adult content. A recent ratings board report explained quite how much sex, violence, drugs and gore will be in the game. Turns out: loads. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/08/27/cyberpunk-2077-gameplay-demo-taking-out-the-scavengers"] Cyberpunk 2077 is part of IGN’s Summer of Gaming. This year will also see Cyberpunk 2077 grace the very last special edition Xbox One X. For more, check out IGN’s Cyberpunk 2077 preview and Cyberpunk 2077 wiki for our full coverage. Space Force First Trailer Gives Steve Carell an Impossible Mission

Netflix has released the first trailer for Space Force, the new comedy starring and co-created by Steve Carell, along with The Office creator Greg Daniels. The trailer features Carell as General Mark R. Naird, who’s put in charge of the USA’s new Space Force military branch. It’s a concept inspired by the formation of the United States Space Force, set up in 2019 by President Trump. The trailer features Carell coming to terms with this seemingly impossible and outrageously expensive new mission, alongside a star-studded cast that includes John Malkovich (Places in the Heart, In the Line of Fire), Diana Silvers (Booksmart), Tawny Newsome (Bajillion Dollar Properties), Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation), and Lisa Kudrow (Friends). [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=space-force-12-first-look-photos&captions=true"] Space Force will debut its first season on Netflix on May 29. Carell’s role on Space Force - which includes executive producer and co-creator, alongside star - will reportedly command a new salary record, likely in excess of $1million per episode. Stranger Things Season 4: Hopper Is Alive, But There’s a ‘Huge’ Backstory Reveal

David Harbour has teased that there will be a huge reveal regarding Jim Hopper's backstory in Stranger Things Season 4. IndieWire reports that Harbour participated in a live Q&A with the audience at Liverpool Comic-Con in March, where he spilt the (coffee) beans on the new season, as he revealed that one storyline would be digging deeper into Hopper's character, who is very much alive. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/07/04/stranger-things-season-3-post-credits-scene-explained"] In a video clip from the event, Harbour refers back to a Season 2 episode, where Eleven discovers an assortment of boxes stowed away in Hopper's cabin, as a mystery that will finally receive a payoff this season. Harbour explains, "there are five boxes, one of which has Brenner's stuff from Hawkins Lab, one of which says 'Dad,' and one of which says 'Vietnam,' and one says 'New York.' So, there are these three things that we've established in the season that if we don't pay off, it means that [the Duffer brothers are] bad writers. And the Duffer brothers are very good writers. So I know specifically that in Season 4 we will give you a big, huge reveal about Hopper's backstory." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/07/06/what-will-happen-in-stranger-things-season-4"] "I'm so excited about revealing this aspect of the character," Harbour added. "It's one of the things that I've known since the first frame of the first shot, and we haven't expressed it yet. And finally, we're gonna express it in a big way. It's my favourite thing about him that you guys don't know about him yet, but it has to do with these backstories of New York, Vietnam, and Dad. And I'm really excited for you guys to know more about that, and it relates, of course, to what he's doing with Eleven and Joyce and things like that." Unfortunately, we might have some time to wait until we can set sail on that particular curiosity voyage, as Harbour said that fans will get to see the "big reveal" whenever the next season comes out, joking that it might be in "2050," as production on Stranger Things 4 is currently on hiatus amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-delayed-movie-due-to-coronavirus-so-far&captions=true"] Warner Bros. TV is not the only studio to have put a halt on production, as a number of NBC, Amazon, FX, and Apple TV+ series' have been forced to take a break from filming in an effort to slow the spread of the virus. Crucible, Amazon’s Free Shooter, Launches This Month

Amazon has announced that Crucible, its new free-to-play hero shooter, launches on May 20, and will ship with ten characters and three distinct game modes. Crucible is a competitive game based around collecting Essence, which allows players to level up their characters and enhance their abilities. Team size and objectives depend on the game mode being played, which mix up both PvE and PvP gameplay. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/04/03/amazon-developed-sci-fi-shooter-crucible-out-next-month-ign-news"] Modes available at launch are Heart of the Hives, Harvester Command, and Alpha Hunters. Heart of the Hives is a 4v4 mode in which both teams fight boss monsters called Hives, and gain hearts for killing them. The first team to capture three hearts wins the match, and so it’s a balance between killing the Hives and defeating the enemy team. It sounds a little like Destiny 2’s Gambit mode, which is no bad thing. Harvester Command is an 8v8 mode that asks teams to capture and defend harvesters on the map that provide Essence for the holding team. The team that depletes their opponent’s resource pool is crowned the winner. Finally, Alpha Hunters is Crucible’s answer to battle royale: eight duos go into the map and fight to be the last team standing. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=crucible-screenshots&captions=true"] Before heading into any one of these game modes, players must choose a Hunter. There are ten of these characters to choose from, which developer Relentless Studios (one of the Amazon Games studios) says caters to every playstyle. Like a MOBA, your character starts afresh every match, but you have their full array of weapons and abilities from the moment the game starts. Collecting Essence allows you to upgrade your toolset, and the upgrades you get are assigned pre-match from a customisation menu. Crucible will be available on PC via Steam from May 20. Amazon has made no mention of other platforms so far, so it is unclear if Relentless Studios plans to bring it to consoles. Crucible's May launch was previously confirmed by The New York Times, which reported that the game was originally due to land in April. The shooter is just one of Amazon Games' larger portfolio, which also includes ambitious MMO New World. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt Purslow is IGN's UK News and Entertainment Writer.
