Ahsoka Tano Live-Action Spin-Off Series Rumored
UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter is hearing rumors that Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka in The Mandalorian could be a potential backdoor pilot for an Ahsoka standalone series.
Ahsoka fans may have even more to celebrate.
[poilib element="accentDivider"]
It appears Ahsoka Tano will finally be appearing in live-action as SlashFilm reports that Rosario Dawson has been cast as the fan-favorite character in season 2 of The Mandalorian.
Check out our video report on this news below or keep scrolling to read the article.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/20/the-mandalorian-casts-rosario-dawson-as-ahsoka-tano-in-season-2-ign-now"]
SlashFilm confirmed the news from two independent sources, who both confirmed Dawson will play the Togruta that was once a member of the Jedi Order and the padawan of Anakin Skywalker.
Dave Filoni, who is the co-creator of Ahsoka Tano, is a writer, producer, and director on The Mandalorian, and he has teased many times that Ahsoka's journey is far from over.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/02/19/clone-wars-ahsoka-tano-explained-in-a-minute"]
This is hardly a surprise casting, as back in 2017, Dawson responded to a fan asking her to appear in a Star Wars movie as Ahsoka by saying "Ummmm... yes please?! #AhsokaLives #AhsokaTano #StarWars."
More recently, Dawson quote tweeted another fan who posted an image of her and Ahsoka side-by-side, saying "Just for reference Ahsoka Tano would be in her early-mid 40s during #TheMandalorian." Dawson responded by saying "Tell 'em! #AhsokaLives."
Ahsoka was one of the main protagonists in Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and TV series and was created by Filoni and George Lucas. She was voiced by Ashley Eckstein in the series, and even made an appearance in a small cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Ahsoka also appeared in Star Wars Rebels and, while many thought her fate was sealed after a confrontation with her old master who had since become Darth Vader, the ending of the series gave hope to those who wanted her story to continue.

Spoilers ahead for Season 1 of The Mandalorian and the ending of Star Wars Rebels.
As for how Ahsoka could fit into the newest season of Disney+'s The Mandalorian, it may somehow be linked to the black-bladed Darksaber that was seen in the possession of Moff Gideon in the finale of The Mandalorian.
The ancient weapon once belonged to Star Wars Rebels' Sabine Wren, who was last seen with Ahsoka before they went off to find Ezra Bridger.

This news tracks with statements by previous Disney boss Bob Iger, who said that "The priority in the next few years is television, with The Mandalorian Season 2 coming in October and then more coming from The Mandalorian thereafter, including the possibility of infusing it with more characters and the possibility of taking those characters in their own direction in terms of series."

Cannes Film Festival Postponed, May Be Rescheduled for June or July
The Cannes Film Festival has been postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
In an official announcement on Thursday, organisers confirmed that the annual film event would no longer be taking place between May 12 to May 23 as originally planned, but said several options were on the table to ensure it runs, including postponing the event until June or July, depending on the developing situation.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/13/how-coronavirus-delays-are-impacting-2020-movies-ign-now"]
The statement read: "At this time of global health crisis, our thoughts go to the victims of the COVID-19 and we express our solidarity with all of those who are fighting the disease. Today, we have made the following decision: The Festival de Cannes cannot be held on the scheduled dates, from May 12 to 23. Several options are considered in order to preserve its running, the main one being a simple postponement, in Cannes, until the end of June-beginning of July, 2020.
"As soon as the development of the French and international health situation will allow us to assess the real possibility, we will make our decision known, in accordance with our ongoing consultation with the French Government and Cannes' City Hall as well as with the Festival's Board Members, Film industry professionals and all the partners of the event."
Earlier this week, Deadline reported that Cannes organisers had been working on a virtual market solution, as a contingency plan in case the film festival couldn't fulfil its scheduled dates. It is understood that the market would include online screenings, live streamings and virtual meetings, though it was looking to run alongside the physical event, which has now been pushed back.

Disney and Pixar's Onward will be released On Demand tonight, March 20, and on Disney+ on April 3, 2020, due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

The decision to put Onward On Demand and on Disney+ was due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused our society to practice social distancing, meaning theaters around the world have either closed or have limited capacity in an effort to help stop the spread of the virus.

Watch Andy Serkis in Exclusive Featurette for Netflix’s The Letter for the King
After the recent success of The Witcher on Netflix, the streaming giant is jumping back into the world of fantasy with The Letter for the King. Currently available for you to binge, the series is based on the bestselling Dutch fantasy novel of the same name, which was written by Tonke Dragt back in 1962. Iconic motion capture performer and the director of the upcoming Venom sequel, Andy Serkis, is one of the many actors featured in the series.
What makes Serkis' story unique here is that he's acting alongside his daughter, Ruby Serkis, who also happens to be portraying his on-screen daughter in the show, Lavinia. Find out what Serkis thinks about working with Ruby in the video below or at the top of the page:
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/20/netflixs-the-letter-for-the-king-exclusive-andy-serkis-clip"]
Here's how Netflix describes the series: "The Letter for the King is the story of a ruthless prince who threatens to cast the world into darkness, when a young knight in training named Tiuri (Amir Wilson) embarks on an epic quest to deliver a secret letter to the king. Along the way, he unexpectedly finds himself at the center of a magical prophecy foretelling the rise of a hero who can defeat the prince and restore peace. If he’s going to survive the journey, Tiuri will have to learn what it means to be a true knight — and a true leader."
Dragt wrote a sequel to The Letter for the King, titled "The Secrets of the Wild Wood." So while the series has not been renewed for a second season yet, there are more stories left to be told if Netflix decides to order more episodes.

Drive-In Movie Theaters See Surge in Popularity Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
Some drive-in movie theaters have experienced a surge of interest, as other entertainment venues have been forced to close their doors amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
According to a report from The LA Times, drive-in theaters have become a popular choice for cinephiles looking for an alternative to movie-watching in isolation, as several of the 305 outdoor venues in the United States have reported a recent increase in business while the majority of brick-and-mortar movie theaters, including major chains, AMC and Regal, remain closed in adherence to government advisories on social distancing.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/13/how-coronavirus-delays-are-impacting-2020-movies-ign-now"]
Operators of drive-in movie theaters in California, Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri told the publication that they were "mindful of restrictions on large gatherings and would close if a mandate required them to do so," though many are already taking extra measures to minimise contact, including shutting down or limiting concessions and ensuring all employees are wearing gloves while examining tickets.
These additional precautions are in place to protect the increased number of people who are indulging in the escapism of the outdoor movie-watching experience. The Paramount drive-in theater in Lakewood, California, reported a spike in demand for a Tuesday showing of Pixar's Onward, with sales that were "at least double" what they would typically be. In total, 320 tickets were sold for the nighttime screening.
"It has been a welcome relief for families and adults looking for a little getaway from the house," owner Beau Bianchi explained, reflecting on the growth in business. "We've been trying to let people know that we have a safe environment and [offer] a little escape."
[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-delayed-movie-due-to-coronavirus-so-far&captions=true"]
While more and more movie theaters have been forced to temporarily shutdown as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, streaming services have moved even further into the spotlight, as consumers have been looking for alternative ways to connect with their friends without having to leave the comfort of their sofas.
Some have turned to Netflix Party, a Google Chrome extension that allows multiple users to stream a Netflix show or movie together at the same time, however, a recent surge in online traffic has presented new concerns over bandwidth strain. As a result, Netflix and YouTube have committed to defaulting streaming quality to standard definition across Europe.

Celebrate Release Day With Animal Crossing Characters Playing Doom Music
The day has finally come - both Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons have been released, and we've now got an imaginary concert to celebrate at.
On Twitter, Andrei Mishanin released DOOMANIMAL, a short, sweet, and savage CG imagining of what it might look like if various Animal Crossing villagers were to play a cut from Mick Gordon's incredible Doom soundtrack. Short answer: extremely bloody good.
As you can see above, the Doom community managers are certainly happy with the video. Animal Crossing's developers recently told us they've been loving the Doom-Animal Crossing crossovers, so they're likely pleased too. If you've missed the recent community love-in, both fans and developers alike have been making crossover content that features the Doomslayer hanging out with AC favourite Isabelle. Even our homepage has been getting in on the action: [caption id="attachment_2323062" align="alignnone" width="1253"] The IGN homepage on March 20, 2020.[/caption] Both games certainly live up to the hype - we awarded each one a 9/10, saying Animal Crossing: New Horizons is "an expanded, polished, next-generation reboot of a classic Nintendo game" and that Doom Eternal features "one of the best first-person shooter campaigns in years."
