Howard the Duck, Tigra & Dazzler Shows Will Not Move Forward

Marvel will reportedly not move forward with the Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler animated shows from Hulu. MODOK and Hit Monkey are supposedly still in production, but The Offenders special will not happen. Sources from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter both say that this was the act of Marvel. Hulu was reportedly not involved with the cancellation, although The Walt Disney Company fully controls both Hulu and Marvel. Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler were announced back in February alongside MODOK and Hit Monkey. THR reports that the writing team for the Tigra & Dazzler series was fired in December due to "creative differences." They were supposedly on a 20-week schedule for production and were already in week 15 with scripts and outlines completed. Those were supposedly tossed aside in favor of finding a new showrunner. Kevin Smith was working on the Howard the Duck show and said as recently as last month that it's "So far, so good" for the series, according to Flickering Myth. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/10/marvels-kevin-feige-on-how-black-widow-will-change-how-you-see-infinity-war-and-endgame"] In just over a year, the ax has been given to Netflix's four Defenders shows, Hulu's Ghost Rider and Runaways, Freeform's Cloak and Dagger and ABC's Agents of SHIELD. Representatives from Hulu talked up MODOK and the live-action series Helstrom last week. Craig Erwich, Hulu senior VP of scripted originals, told THR that he has seen the first four episodes of Helstrom and multiple episodes of MODOK. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=marvel-cinematic-universe-every-upcoming-movie-and-tv-show&captions=true"] And Marvel fans will still have plenty to watch on Disney+. There are seven live-action Marvel shows coming to the service that will be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and an animated What If?... series. Disney XD will also air the third season of Marvel's Spider-Man and there's a second season of the Big Hero 6 series currently airing on Disney Channel. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is still on the way to Disney Channel as well as the Disney Junior series Spidey and His Amazing Friends. Final Fantasy 7: How to Stop Square Enix From Canceling Your Pre-Order

If you pre-ordered Final Fantasy 7 Remake or the collector’s edition directly from Square Enix, you’ll need to reconfirm your order or else Square Enix will cancel it. Square Enix announced the news in a statement on its official Facebook page. The company said that because of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake delay, it has instituted a new policy that requires customers who pre-ordered Final Fantasy 7 Remake directly from Square Enix to confirm their orders. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=final-fantasy-7-remake-over-100-screenshots&captions=true"] “Due to the release change to April 10th, you must opt-in by February 28 for your order to not be cancelled,” Square Enix writes. “To confirm your order please check for an email from Square Enix on this topic, and then click the link in the email to be taken to a web page to opt-in.” If you previously pre-ordered any version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake from the Square Enix Store, you’ll have until the end of February to keep your order. Otherwise, Square Enix will automatically cancel your order and the company says it “will not be able to reinstate your pre-order based on limited quantities available.” Orders from other retailers should be unaffected. Anyone who pre-ordered a version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake from the Square Enix store should search their inboxes from an email and follow the instructions to keep their pre-orders. While this is inconvenient, there shouldn’t be any problems so long as you opt-in. Final Fantasy 7 Remake was delayed from March 3 to April 10, 2020. It was one of two delays Square Enix announced, the other being Marvel’s Avengers which was pushed back to September 4. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=all-the-big-games-coming-in-2020&captions=true"] While the delays are unfortunate, both games will still be released this year. Anaconda Reboot in the Style of The Meg Is in the Works

Anaconda is returning! Sony is said to be looking to reboot the horror franchise for a new audience. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony has turned to Tomb Raider's Evan Daugherty to write the screenplay. THR's sources are specifically describing the film as a "reimagining" of the original concept rather than a sequel or remake. Their sources point to the 2018 Jason Statham movie The Meg as a model for the new Anaconda, suggesting a more action-oriented approach this time -- and maybe even a much bigger serpent this time around. Anaconda-1997 The original Anaconda hit theaters in 1997. Starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Jon Voight, the film follows a documentary crew who venture into the Amazon rainforest only to run afoul of a gigantic, man-eating snake. Despite generally negative reviews, Anaconda inspired three sequels and the 2015 crossover movie Lake Placid vs. Anaconda. The original movie was also the source of a 2014 RiffTrax Live special, with co-host Michael J. Nelson referring to Anaconda as "indisputably the best digital snake movie of 1997." We can't argue with him there. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=20-hidden-horror-gems-worth-streaming&captions=true"] This news comes as we're also learning about another big Hollywood remake. Disney is redoing 1942's Bambi in the vein of 2019's The Lion King, with a photorealistic, CG-animated approach. For more remake mania, check out our picks for 14 movie remakes that are better than the originals. Will the new Anaconda earn a place on that list? Only time will tell.
