Fans Call for Keanu Day As Matrix 4 and John Wick 4 Share Release Date
Keanu Reeves' renaissance will continue into the foreseeable future, as two of his major upcoming movies, The Matrix 4 and John Wick: Chapter 4, are both set to be released on May 21, 2021. Fans are dubbing this sublime future moment as "Keanu Day" and we're here for it.
The news broke Wednesday that WB had finally set The Matrix 4's release date, and fans quickly noticed this aligned directly with John Wick: Chapter 4. While it's unlikely both films will ultimately keep the same release date -- when film conflicts like this emerge, one studio tends to move its directly competing movie to a different date -- fans across the Internet will continue to dream about the impending Keanu Day, and the joy it could bring.
The Best Animation of 2019
There's an expected baseline for animation in anime, but a few studios go above and beyond to deliver full seasons or movies that are truly special.
This award came down to two action-packed anime series in a tiebreaker vote, and one narrowly took the victory.
Best Animation of 2019: Mob Psycho 100 II
Mob Psycho 100 II
Studio Bones’ second season of Mob Psycho 100 is as spectacular, if not more, than its first. It’s clear that Bones’ animators use every tool in their animation arsenal to make everything from fights to even something as mundane as a character simply getting ready for the day a visual feast.
The Best Anime Movie of 2019
This year anime movies had a more limited release cadence but there were certainly still standouts among them. In 2019 we got movies for two shonen giants and a great movie debut from a popular anime studio.
It was an incredibly close vote between the nominees of this year's best anime movie award.
Best Anime Movie of 2019: Promare
Promare is a great debut film out of Studio Trigger. Its characters burn bright with stylish designs and fun personalities, but the action is the real scene-stealer. Time split between protagonists Galo and Lio’s conflicts in a world on fire is done well, though the movie would have been stronger with tighter editing to flesh out some finer character details.
