PlayStation Is ‘Always Looking’ for New First-Party Studios

PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan could be interested in expanding Sony’s line-up of first-party studios, but not with out exercising a bit of caution.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.Biz, Ryan said they are "always looking” for new game development studios to acquire, similar to how they recently purchased Marvel’s Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games, but that they are "careful about who we look at and talk to.”

Ryan described the current landscape as a “seller’s market,” explaining that “buying studios right now is a very expensive undertaking.” So while that slower approach makes it seem like Sony might not be looking at all, Ryan still said “there is room for us to do more in that area, but we have to make sure that the company is right.”

Death Stranding and Days Gone Crossover is Weird as Hell

Death Stranding is finally getting released tomorrow, and Sony Worldwide Studios is celebrating with some fun crossovers. Bend Studio, who released the zombie apocalypse game Days Gone earlier this year, just revealed its own Death Stranding and Days Gone collaboration today in the form of a creepy motorcycle accessory.

Starting today, players can download Days Gone’s 1.6 patch which includes two Death Stranding-themed motorcycle bike tanks, decals, and frame paint. While one of the new bike tanks just looks like a futuristic bike part from one of the vehicles in Death Stranding, the other looks like a BB jar, complete with a baby.

Star Trek’s Full-Body ‘Away Mission’ Experience Is Expensive but Interesting

Star Trek Discovery: Away Mission is a new multiplayer location-based full-body VR experience that builds upon Oculus tech, similar to Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire at The Void. We went and tried it out at the new downtown San Francisco location, opening November 13.

Check out the video above for impressions from two members of our four-person away team. And yes, in case you're wondering: you do get to beam up (the effect is enhanced by force feedback in your vest and fans that blow on you from overhead)!
