Here’s What Kojima Said About Mixed Death Stranding Reviews

Over the weekend, Hideo Kojima shared his thoughts on why his latest video game, Death Stranding, may be receiving mixed reviews, particularly from US games press. Kojima’s quote spread quickly online, but IGN has acquired an updated translation of why Kojima believes Death Stranding is receiving mixed responses in the US compared to Europe and Japan.

In an interview between Hideo Kojima and Italian game website TGCom24, Kojima says that the American preference for first-person shooters may have affected players’ response to Death Stranding. An original translation of Kojima’s response also suggested that Death Stranding was better than a shooter. However, IGN’s version of the quote finds that part to be inaccurate. Here is our independent translation of Kojima’s answer.

The Godfather Part II: ‘The Unexpected Sequel’ Turns 45

On December 20, 2019, The Godfather Part II celebrates the 45th anniversary of its release in 1974. It still remains one of the most lauded cinematic sequels of all time, and the first sequel to win an Academy Award for Best Picture. (It took The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King 29 years to achieve the same feat).

Back in the ’70s, sequels weren’t as ubiquitous as they are today, so for director Francis Ford Coppola to equal, and arguably best, The Godfather was, and remains to this day, a stunning achievement. To mark the anniversary, Fathom Events has scheduled screenings of The Godfather Part II in theaters across the country, including on November 12 and 13 (buy tickets here). The film is presented as part of the TCM Big Screen Classics series.

Disney+ Adds New Cut to Star Wars: A New Hope, Han and Greedo Scene

Disney+ has a brand new iteration of the infamous "Han Shoots First" scene from the first Star Wars movie, Episode IV – A New Hope. It represents the first time the scene has changed since the 2011 Blu-ray, and the most noticeable difference since the scene was first altered in 1997.

After Han Solo says, "Yes, I'll bet you have," it cuts to a shot of Greedo saying a full phrase in his alien language before returning to the shot of both of them firing. Greedo says something along the lines of, "Ma-klunk-kley."

The new phrase does not come with subtitles, even though the rest of Greedo's dialogue from that scene does. The font of the subtitles has also been changed to the same style that appears on all Disney+ content.

Disney+ Suffers Launch Day Technical Problems

The Disney+ streaming service has been hit by technical issues in its first day, leaving many users frustrated and unable to watch shows like The Mandalorian.

The Hollywood Reporter details that user reports began to appear on social media at approximately 7am ET. The website downdetector.com (like IGN, owned by Ziff Davis Media), which shows the status for many online services, indicates a peak of over 8,000 reported issues today, with other spikes earlier in the day.

Downdetector.com’s map locates these problems in the US, parts of Canada, and the Netherlands, which - as you’d expect - are the first nations to receive Disney+. It appears, then, that the problem is being experienced by all territories.
