SpongeBob SquarePants Squidward Spinoff Reportedly in the Works for Netflix

Nickelodeon and Netflix announced a partnership earlier this week that is set to "produce original animated feature films and television series" based on popular Nickelodeon characters. It seems that one of these shows will be a SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff series, which will feature everyone's favorite grumpy octopus — Squidward.

While there has been nothing official announced about the Squidward spinoff show from Netflix or Nickelodeon, The New York Times reports that the spinoff is in the works for Netflix. The upcoming show will reportedly be a music-based project that turns the focus off of the lovable sponge and onto the cantankerous octopus. Further details on the Squidward spinoff series are unknown at this time.

Report: New Mass Effect Game Is Very Early in Development

A new Mass Effect game is reportedly in "very early development" at BioWare Edmonton.

As reported by Kotaku, the project is being headed by longtime series producer Mike Gamble. There are no further details on the potential game at this time.

The series' latest entry, 2017's Mass Effect: Andromeda, is largely considered the weakest game in the twelve-year-old franchise. The unfavorable reception to Andromeda reportedly led EA to put the series on hold. However, earlier this year, BioWare said Mass Effect is "very much alive."

Carrion Is a Horror Game Where YOU Are the Monster

Most video games make their playable characters people who, at the very least, have a few redeemable qualities. Max Payne might be a vengeful psychopath, but he at least meditates on how and why he got this way. Kratos doomed the mortal world to chaos in God of War III, but his fundamental belief -- that the pantheon was corrupt and inept and needed to go -- was hard to argue with.

That isn't the case in Carrion. This project, developed by Polish studio Phobia and published by Devolver Digital, is one of the few times in video games where you take control of an unambiguous, unassailable force of evil. It's also my favorite thing I played at X019’s ID@Xbox booth.

Our "hero" in Carrion is a ghastly Lovecraftian blob. It's red and organic in nature -- covered in tumorous bumps and grisly tentacles -- and without any preamble or story justification, you emerge from a pustule deep in the earth's crust and bust into a science facility ready to kill. The blob can cling to ceilings and spider up walls at a terrifying pace, and with the right stick, you can reach out with your tentacles, grab the hapless souls guarding the place, and yank them back to your waiting maw. Eating humans is how the blob gets bigger and stronger, and you get the sense that its hunger will not be sated until every living thing on earth has been assimilated within its grotesque folds.
