Blizzard’s Weibo Account Isn’t Helping

Blizzard is under fire for punishing a professional Hearthstone player from Hong Kong over his support for the current Hong Kong protests. While Blizzard’s English-language blog post on the matter took a neutral tone on the decision, but an official Chinese language response to the incident appears much more biased.

Earlier this week Blizzard announced it would take punitive action against Ng Wai “Blitzchung” Chung for speaking in support of the Hong Kong protests during an official Hearthstone livestream. Blizzard explained its decision as a punishment for violating official Blizzard esports rules. But on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, an official Blizzard account run by the company's Chinese publishing partner Netease took a tougher stance.

Watchmen: Everything You Need to Know About the Classic Graphic Novel

As HBO and Damon Lindelof (The Leftovers, Lost) prepare to enter the world of Watchmen with their follow-up series, which debuts on October 20, this seems like a good time to catch up on the events of the original 12-issue graphic novel by Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, and John Higgins.

That seminal book was of course turned into a movie directed by Zack Snyder in 2009, though by its very nature the film had to drop or alter several elements from the comic. Additionally, the HBO Watchmen TV series is a continuation of the book, not the movie, set some 34 years after that story. (The movie, of course, had a different ending than the comic.) Read our first impressions of the Watchmen pilot.

Pixar’s Onward Trailer: Tom Holland & Chris Pratt Go on Magical Quest

Disney-Pixar has released a new trailer for their upcoming film Onward, an animated tale set in a suburban fantasy world where elves, trolls and unicorns are commonplace.

The latest trailer transforms Tom Holland and Chris Pratt into two teenage elf brothers, Ian Lightfoot and Barley Lightfoot, who set out on a rambunctious road trip to discover whether there is enough magic still left in the world for them to conjure up a special enchantment.

The clips show Ian and Barley being gifted a magical staff by their mother (voiced by Julia Louis-Dreyfus), along with a set of instructions for a "visitation" spell that will allow them to bring their late father back into the mortal realm for just 24 hours.

How Afterparty Was Born From Bar Crawling and Cemetery Walks

When you look at Afterparty, Night School Studio’s newest game due out later this October, one has to wonder how a fledgling indie studio goes from a game about teenagers on a mysterious island to a game about drinking your way out of Hell. As developer Sean Krankel puts it on this month’s episode of IGN Unfiltered, the idea for Afterparty definitely involved a bit of drinking and cemetery exploration.

“There's a cemetery called Forest Lawn across from our studio,” Krankel explains. “It's massive. Anyone who's been to LA knows, it's like three miles across. So everybody is buried there. We'll walk over there and brainstorm sometimes.

New Doctor Sleep Posters Include Major Shining References

Two new Doctor Sleep posters have been released, teasing Danny Torrance's return to the haunted halls of the Overlook Hotel, as he dares to "go back" to the place where his nightmare began 40 years prior.

Hot on the heels of the final trailer, the first poster for the horror sequel promotes the "next chapter in The Shining story" by dropping an adult Danny Torrance (played by Ewan McGregor) against a blood-red backdrop, walking down an eerily familiar hallway within the foreboding building.

The text on the one-sheet dares him to "go back"; as Danny paces towards his younger self in a mirror-like image that positions him directly opposite his six-year-old character from The Shining, who sits atop a tricycle trundling through the empty corridors of the hotel.
