6 Things You May Have Forgotten About Zombieland
When Zombieland: Double Tap hits theaters on Friday, October 18, it'll be almost exactly 10 years since the original horror comedy made its debut. That's a long time between sequels. And while you may think you remember the original Zombieland pretty well, there's more to the movie than wisecracks, gore and Twinkies.
From the surprisingly violent zombie carnage to a celebrity cameo to that other celebrity cameo, here are six things you may have forgotten about Zombieland.
Watch our review of Zombieland: Double Tap below:
There's an Amber Heard Cameo
Zombieland has a surprisingly small cast for a zombie movie. There are the four main characters - Woody Harrelson's Tallahassee, Jesse Eisenberg's Columbus, Emma Stone's Wichita and Abigail Breslin's Little Rock - and a whole bunch of extras in zombie makeup. And let's not forget that incredible Bill Murray cameo, easily one of the greatest movie shockers of the past decade.
Check Out What’s New to Amazon Video This November
Amazon Prime Video is dropping four original series in the month of November, including Season 2 of Jack Ryan, the final season of The Man in the High Castle, and sci-fi newcomer The Feed, starring Game of Thrones' Michelle Fairley and Harry Potter's David Thewlis. According to the streamer, "The Feed follows the family of Lawrence Hatfield, the man who invented an omnipresent technology called The Feed. Implanted into nearly everyone’s brain, The Feed enables people to share information, emotions, and memories instantly. But when things start to go wrong and users become murderous, the family is driven apart as they struggle to control the monster they have unleashed."
On the movie front, Amazon is adding Creed 2, the new Adam Driver political thriller The Report, and every James Bond movie before Daniel Craig took over the role, from Connery to Brosnan, aside from the 1967 Casino Royale.
Taika Waititi and Kevin Smith Respond to Martin Scorsese’s Marvel Comments
Taika Waititi and Kevin Smith have spoken up in response to Martin Scorsese saying that Marvel films are "not cinema," and both are in agreement that they are, in fact, cinema.
Scorsese's comments came from an interview with Empire Magazine where he was asked about the superhero genre and the MCU. He said "I don't see them. I tried, you know? But that's not cinema. Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn't the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being."
Korg Will Return For Thor: Love And Thunder, Confirms Taika Waititi
Taika Waititi, director of Thor: Ragnarok and the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, has confirmed that his character, Korg, will be returning for Thor's next adventure.
As reported by EW, Waititi revealed the good news on Jimmy Kimmel Live! while he was promoting his newest film, Jojo Rabbit.
"My character is coming back, Korg," Waititi said. The crowd burst into applause and Waititi responded, in Korg's voice, "Thank you. Thank you so much for that reaction."
While there is no word, as of yet, if Korg's sidekick Miek will be returning or if they will once again be playing Fortnite against NoobMaster69 as they did in Avengers: Endgame, this news is welcome nonetheless.
Analogue Pocket Announced: Stylish Handheld Will Play All Game Boy Games, Ever
Analogue has announced the Analogue Pocket, a stylish third-party handheld that will play Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games. It will be available in 2020 for $199.99 (other regions' pricing not confirmed at time of writing).
Designed by the same team that released the excellent Super Nt and Mega Sg consoles, the Analogue Pocket has a similar philosophy - to allow you to play cartridge-based retro games in the best possible quality, without any emulation. Cartridge adapters will apparently allow the Pocket to play the likes of Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket Color and Atari Lynx games too.
Pokemon Sword and Shield Trailer Unveils Chonky Gigantamax Pikachu
A new trailer for Pokemon Sword and Shield has given us our first look at iconic 90s Pokémon - Pikachu, Charizard, Eevee, Meowth, and Butterfree - in their supersized Gigantamax forms.
One of the new features coming to Pokemon's eighth generation of games is the ability to "Dynamax." Pokemon who do this will transform to huge sizes and buff their stats. Gigantamax is a specialised version of this that goes one step further by also altering the Pokemon's appearance and introducing new moves to use in battle.
Only certain Pokemon have been announced as being able to pull it off. This latest trailer reveals smol mouse Pikachu will be able to transform into the heftier 90s version of itself and gaining the G-Max move, Volt Crash, which damages and paralyses puny enemies. Meanwhile, Meowth supersizes from 0.4m to 33m tall when it Gigantamaxes - creating something that looks a lot like the old longcat meme - and learns the G-Max move Gold Rush.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Delayed By Months
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has been delayed from its original Q1 2020 launch window. It will now release sometime later in the year.
Announced by developer Hardsuit Labs’ CEO Andy Kipling and Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 1 and 2 scribe Brian Mitsoda, the delay was detailed in a blog post on the Vampire website. “Today, we have to tell you that we need some more time to get you the game you’ve been waiting for,” the post says. “Although Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will still launch in 2020, we have decided to value quality over making the Q1 launch window.”
The post notes that the extra time will ensure that the game lives up to the legacy of the original Bloodlines game. That includes branching storylines and both character and world building. There’s also a nod to the original’s games infamous buggy state - “there’s the responsibility to avoid some of the issues that plagued the first game, which was famously launched too early,” explains the post.
Elton John Says Disney’s Lion King Remake Was a ‘Huge Disappointment’
Sir Elton John has offered his opinion on Disney's remake of The Lion King, three months after the photorealistic musical stampeded into theaters to take its throne at the the top of box office, surpassing Frozen as the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
Elton, who composed and performed several songs on the original soundtrack for the 1994 animated classic, recently shared his critique of the musical numbers in the 2019 iteration of the film, admitting that he was less than impressed with the finished product.
The Outer Worlds Will Be Enhanced on Xbox One X But Not PS4 Pro
The Outer Worlds, Obsidian's upcoming sci-fi RPG, will only feature 4K enhancements on the Xbox One X. The PS4 Pro version of the game won't get any extra licks of paint.
Given that most games available on both Sony and Microsoft's beefed-up consoles get some sort of enhancement, this is a surprising move. The PS4 Pro will be capped at 1080p resolution, while the Xbox One X will be able to play Outer Worlds in 4K.
Publisher Private Division confirmed the news in a short statement to Windows Central, saying there'd be "no enhancements for PS4 Pro." No official reasoning has been given for the imbalance, but it may be worth noting that Obsidian is now a Microsoft-owned company following an acquisition last year.
