Is Taika Waititi’s Akira Remake Still Happening?

Akira fans have been waited with bated breath to see if this beloved anime movie can be successfully adapted into live-action. The good news is that Taika Waititi is still attached to direct. The bad news is that production has been delayed until after Waititi wraps up work on the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder.

Waititi gave us an update on the long-brewing project during a press junket for his latest film, Jojo Rabbit. As he reveals, Akira fell behind schedule as work on the screenplay began bleeding into Waititi's commitment to the fourth Thor movie.

See what Waititi has to say about the current status of Akira in the video below.

Want To Buy Joker Merchandise? Too Bad, It Barely Exists

From standing ovations at international film festivals to public warnings issued by the U.S Army, the publicity around Joker’s release has been as insane and unpredictable as the character himself. Love it or loathe it, Joker is a unique proposition for a comic book film. It’s rated R, it’s removed from being a cog in a larger cinematic universe, and most interestingly, it’s not being merchandised to hell and back like nearly every other film in its category. It’s a peculiar, if not welcome level of restraint from a massive movie studio responsible for one of the biggest films of the year. Seriously, try and name a comic book film from a major movie studio in the last fifteen years that wasn’t launched into theaters alongside an entire mountain of toys, T-shirts, and consumer goods from cereal to toothpaste. You’d be hard pressed. On the flip side, if you walked out of Joker eager to spend some money on merchandise for your work desk, wardrobe, or home office, you literally can’t. As of right now, practically no new Joker merchandise exists.

These Are the Best FreeSync Monitors for Nvidia GPUs

If you’re willing to buy a new monitor, variable refresh rate is one of the best upgrades features you can get. Known as G-Sync on the Nvidia side and FreeSync on the AMD side, they reduce screen tearing and sync your monitor’s refresh rate with your video card’s output for a smoother experience. While FreeSync are easy to come by and affordable, monitors with NVIDIA’s G-Sync are always more expensive, leaving budget-minded GTX users out in the cold, until just recently.

This year at CES, Nvidia announced that it was bringing G-Sync compatibility to some FreeSync monitors with a new driver update. They’ve officially validated 50 monitors as “G-Sync compatible,” but anyone can enable variable refresh rate (VRR) if they have the latest Nvidia drivers and a FreeSync-enabled display—and many have found certain uncertified monitors to work just fine.

U.S. Congress Members Send Letter to Blizzard Over ‘Concern’ for Recent Actions

Five bipartisan members of the United States Congress have sent Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick to reconsider the company’s punishment of Ng Wai ‘Blitzchung’ Chung for speaking out in support of the protests in Hong Kong.

United States Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Reps Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Mike Gallagher (R-WI), and Tom Malinowski (D-NJ) have signed a joint letter addressed to Robert Kotick specifically regarding Blizzard’s recent actions towards Chung.

“We write to express our deep concern about Activision Blizzard’s decision to make player Ng Way Chung forfeit prize money and ban him from participating in tournaments for a year after he voiced support for pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong. The decision is particularly concerning in light of the Chinese government’s growing appetite for pressuring American businesses to help stifle free speech.”
