Three Awesome Aussie Indie Games You Need to Keep an Eye On
PAX Australia has come and gone for another year, and I spent a lot of it walking from indie booth to indie booth, talking to devs and playing everything I could. After all, games like Hollow Knight and Screen Cheat were first shown here, and there’s always a few truly outstanding titles to discover. Here are three games coming from Aussies indies that really impressed me, and one bonus game from Norway via Canada.
Heavenly Bodies

Emilia Clarke Only Felt ‘Heartbreak’ for GoT Showrunners Over Finale Backlash
In the wake of Game of Thrones’ divisive eighth and final season, a wealth of fans (and even the actors themselves) expressed a lot of displeasure or disbelief with how the series concluded. After the likes of Kit Harrington (Jon Snow), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) and Conleth Hill (Varys) all weighed in, it now seems that it’s Emilia Clarke’s turn, and it seems she feels the most for showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
Save Big on these Gunnar Optiks Gaming Glasses and More
Have you noticed your eyes straining lately when you’re playing your games? Maybe a migraine or two on that 12th Apex Legends game? That harsh blue light coming from your TV or Switch screen is almost definitely responsible. Instead of futzing with your TV settings (and making everything else look worse), try out a pair of Gunnar glasses. These things are basically the big name brand in tinted glasses designed for gaming, getting rid of that blue light and filtering it into more of a soft yellow so your eyes aren’t screaming at you by 10 p.m. Gunnar has some great deals on two pairs right now.

Natalie Portman Defends the MCU: “There’s Room for All Types of Cinema”
Ever since Martin Scorsese decided to share his opinion that MCU movies were theme parks and "not cinema," Hollywood's been chiming in - whether it's James Gunn coming to the franchise's defense, Robert Downey Jr. being diplomatic, or director Francis Ford Coppola calling Marvel films "despicable."
Arrow: Green Arrow and the Canaries Spinoff Confirmed
Last month, we reported that an Arrow spinoff series showcasing crime-fighting team The Canaries was in development - featuring Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak’s daughter Mia Smoak (Katherine McNamara) teaming up with Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy).
Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim sent out a tweet on the day of Arrow's final season premiere confirming the spinoff, revealing its name, and sharing a cool poster from artists Emanuela Lupacchino, Dave McCaig, and Brett Breeding!
Godfather Director Francis Ford Coppola Calls MCU Movies “Despicable”
Adding another auteur the list of those who are anti-MCU, Francis Ford Coppola, director of classics like The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, recently called Marvel movies "despicable" while speaking to the press in France.
Earlier this month, Martin Scorsese stated his opinion that MCU movies were theme parks and "not cinema." Following this comment, MCU writer/director James Gunn came to the franchise's defense while star Robert Downey Jr. played things more diplomatically.
Resident Evil 2 Mod Turns Untitled Goose Game Into a Honking Nightmare
Geese are scary, but you knew that going into Untitled Goose Game, as you chased around innocent children and grumpy gardeners. Well now a Resident Evil 2 modder has made the survival horror remake all the more terrifying by adding an oversized Goose in place of Mr. X.
The modder, known as Alister/ZombiAli, is also responsible for that ridiculous Thomas the Tank Engine mod that similarly replaced the towering Mr. X with the children’s show character. Take a gander at the GIF below and you’ll see Alister’s newest work, showing the Untitled Goose lifting the crashed helicopter out of the way to pursue Claire Redfield.
Box Office: Joker Passes Justice League and Man of Steel
Though it was Maleficent: Mistress of Evil that conquered the weekend box office, dethroning Joker with an estimated (and soft, compared to the first film) $36 million, Joker still impressively raked in $29.2 million.
Overseas, Joker brought in another $77.9 million for a worldwide take of $737.5 million.
Joker's domestic cache now stands at roughly $247.2 million, putting it ahead of Justice League's $229 million domestic winnings. Joker's also now passed Doctor Strange ($229 million) and X-Men: Days of Future Past ($233 million).
Jared Leto’s Days as the Joker Are Reportedly Over
Following up on the original report claiming Jared Leto tried to stop the Todd Phillips/Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie while it was in development, sources have also told The Hollywood Reporter that the actor probably won't be reprising his version of the Joker in any future film.
"Leto’s days as the Joker likely are over," THR states.
Again, Leto felt "alienated and upset" over the new R-rated Joker film, having believed Warner Bros. was planning on giving him his own solo Joker project.
