Joker: Joaquin Phoenix Was Only Actor Asked to Star in Title Role

Joker writer and director Todd Phillips has revealed that the film was written for Joaquin Phoenix and no other actors were sought for the role of the classic DC comic villain.

Talking to the New York Times, Phillips dismissed rumours that Warner Bros. had approached Leonardo DiCaprio to play the Joker. “We wrote the movie for Joaquin,” Phillips said.

However, while the film had been written with Phoenix in mind, convincing him took many months of conversation. “He was not keen on jumping into costume in any comic-book movie,” Phillips said.

Ubisoft Will Not Return to Creating Shorter Games Says CEO

Ubisoft will continue to focus on huge open-world games that take many hours to play, but has the goal to provide smaller-scale adventures within large worlds, says the company’s CEO.

Talking to gamesindustry.biz, Yves Guillemot said “No,” to the question of if the company would ever return to games of the scale of Assassin’s Creed Unity, in which the main story can easily be finished in around 15 hours. That’s a very brief trip compared to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which on average takes up 60 hours of people’s time.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake TGS Trailer Shows Turks, Summons, And More

Update 9/11: The latest trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been released as part of Square's Tokyo Game Show 2019 reveals, and it shows plenty of iconic moments from the 1997 original.

The trailer features key scenes from the game, including the Turks' encounter with Cloud and Aerith in the slums church, the encounter with Don Corneo, and the destruction of the Sector 7 plate. There are also plenty of hints to other famous moments; the squatting mini-game, summons in the form of Ifrit and Shiva, Tifa's 7th Heaven bar, and the motorcycle chase are all glimpsed here.

Importantly there are also glimpses at moments that appear to be brand new for the Remake. There's a paragliding segment (that could potentially be Avalanche's escape from the plate drop, rather than the original wire swing) and the reveal of what appears to be a new SOLDIER character on a motorbike. There's also another sighting of those ghost-like things we first saw at E3 2019.

iPhone 11 Pro Hands-On Impressions

Apple announced their 2019 iPhones at an event in the Steve Jobs Theater on their Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California today, and IGN was there for the unveiling. The iPhone 11 is the new standard-bearer for the company, and it boasts a Liquid Retina display, six new colors (including compelling newcomers like purple), and, of course, a new camera.

But I was much more interested in Apple's flagship smartphone and I got to try out the iPhone 11 Pro (see some photos of it in action below) for a few minutes after the event. It's the new top-of-the-line phone in the iPhone lineup, boasting a 5.8-inch OLED display in the regular Pro model, or a 6.5-inch OLED screen on the Pro Max. I checked out the former.
