Before Blade, Mahershala Ali Was Up for a Role in The Batman

Mahershala Ali shocked San Diego Comic-Con when he revealed he is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as vampire hunter Blade, but the actor is said to have also up for a different comic book role at the same time at competitor DC: Batman’s ally, Commissioner James Gordon.

After news broke that Jeffrey Wright is in talks to play Commissioner Gordon in The Batman movie, Variety reporter Justin Kroll tweeted an extra tidbit on the topic, sharing that Ali was originally in contention for the role. Ali was said to have been in discussions for both the role of Gordon and Blade at the same time, but when talks with Marvel head Kevin Feige went well, he signed on to play Blade and was taken out of the running for Gordon, according to Cinema Blend.

30 Gorgeous Screens From the Latest Last of Us 2 Trailer

Naughty Dog has finally revealed the release date for The Last of Us: Part 2 in a trailer from Sony's most recent State of Play.

The trailer consisted of both gameplay footage and in-game cinematics, giving us our first look at the main story of the long-anticipated sequel.

Based on the trailer, it seems that Ellie will be embarking on a quest for vengeance after a group of human survivors apparently kills (or at least severely hurts) her more-than-a-friend-but-we're-not-putting-labels-on-it companion Dina. We see Ellie steel herself in her search for justice, encountering new types of enemies and old allies along the way.

Every Batman Game Review We’ve Ever Done

Okay, I'll be honest: after all the Court of Owls hints we've seen dropped in the past few days I was pretty sure they were gonna announce a fifth Batman Arkham game at today's State of Play Sony show, so I had this slideshow of every Batman game review IGN's done in our 23-year history whipped up. But even though they didn't, I'll be damned if I'm going to let it go to waste. So enjoy, if you will, this gallery of rogues and heroes, including all games where the Dark Knight played at least a supporting role.

Now, weigh in!

Warner Bros. Responds to Aurora Families Over Joker Movie Fears

Warner Bros. issued a response Tuesday to a letter from the families of the victims of the 2012 mass shooting at a screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado who are asking Warners to advocate for gun safety ahead of Joker's release

The studio’s statement says: “Gun violence in our society is a critical issue, and we extend our deepest sympathy to all victims and families impacted by these tragedies. Our company has a long history of donating to victims of violence, including Aurora, and in recent weeks, our parent company joined other business leaders to call on policymakers to enact bi-partisan legislation to address this epidemic. At the same time, Warner Bros. believes that one of the functions of storytelling is to provoke difficult conversations around complex issues. Make no mistake: neither the fictional character Joker, nor the film, is an endorsement of real-world violence of any kind. It is not the intention of the film, the filmmakers or the studio to hold this character up as a hero.”
