Joker: How Martin Scorsese Helped Out the DC Movie
Watch our chat with Joker director Todd Phillips in the video player above or read on for more context.
When news of a Joker origin movie from director Todd Phillips first broke back in 2017, early reports pegged Martin Scorsese as being attached as a producer. Given that Joker pays homage to the Scorsese classics Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy, the filmmaker’s involvement made sense.

Get a Free Week of Xbox Game Pass For Drinking Rockstar Energy
If you've been on the fence about signing up for Xbox Game Pass, and also drink energy drinks to get you through the work day, you can kill two birds with one stone. Xbox announced that specially-marked Gears 5-themed Rockstar energy drinks will come with a free 7-day trial for Xbox Game Pass.
The 7-day Xbox Game Pass trial was announced on the new episode of Inside Xbox. The reason for the specially-designed Gears 5 Rockstar cans is because, like all first-party Xbox Game Studio titles, Gears 5 is available on Xbox Game Pass right now. So, players can pick up a can of Rockstar energy drinks, redeem a free week of Xbox Game Pass, download Gears 5, and if you do this before October 28, you can also redeem a free Bautista skin in Gears 5. You can watch the promotion announcement below.

Sony’s Third State of Play Was…Fine (But The Last of Us Part Two Looks Amazing)
Sony’s third State of Play was an aggressively fine showcase for its upcoming line-up, orchestrated as a reminder that there are still games coming out exclusively for the console in the remainder of 2019 and early 2020. But even if its first 18 minutes consisted of relatively small announcements, the latest trailer for The Last of Us Part Two delivered on the requisite heartbreak, violence, horror, and of course, release date.
It started off strong. The opening trailer was Humanity, a new video game from Enhance (Rez Infinite, Tetris Effect) and Tokyo-based design studio Tha.Ltd, and a highlight of this State of Play. It initially looked like you manipulate masses of people in a variety of cute ways, but the fact it quickly descended into violence was surprising, in a good way. After all, if you’re going to name your video game Humanity, I expect some sort of commentary about our collective terribleness when it comes to the way we treat each other.

Saints Row 4: Re-Elected is a graphical remaster of the original Saints Row 4, which also includes its DLC "Gat Out of Hell." IGN's review gave it a 7.8 out of 10, calling it an enjoyable, if only minimally improved romp.
Here's IGN's review of Cities: Skylines. We gave it an 8.5 out of 10, calling it a "really impressive and often beautiful simulation."
