Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ Series Confirmed With Ewan McGregor
The rumored Obi-Wan Disney+ Series has officially been confirmed, with Ewan McGregor reprising his role from the prequels.
The announcement was made by Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy at D23 Expo during the Disney+ panel.
“After secrets and fibs and not being able to talk about it, I am thrilled to bring out a beloved member of the star wars family…" Kennedy said as Ewan McGregor walked onstage.
“Kathleen, can you ask me in front of all these witnesses, can you please ask me, am I going to play Obi-Wan Kenobi again?” McGregor said, in which Kathleen asked him, "Ewan, are you going to play Obi-Wan?"
Marvel’s What If: Everything We Saw at D23’s Disney+ Panel
In addition to announcing several brand new Marvel shows, the Disney+ panel at D23 also gave us our first look at the upcoming animated series Marvel's What If... Read on for a breakdown of the footage we saw and what you can expect from this ambitious project.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was present at the panel to introduce the footage. Feige said that each episode will focus on a specific MCU movie with exactly one story element changed, exploring how that one change has rippling effects and fundamentally alters the story we know.
Numerous MCU actors will return to voice their characters, with some of the standout names mentioned at the panel including Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger), Sebastian Stan (Bucky), Josh Brolin (Thanos) and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk).
Star Wars: The Clone Wars Disney+ Release Window Announced
Star War: The Clone Wars, the hit animated Star Wars TV series, is returning for a new season on Disney+. Today, Lucasfilm announced Star Wars: Clone Wars is coming to Disney+ on February 2020.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars ran for seven seasons between 2008 and 2013. Developed by Dave Filoni, The Clone Wars filled in the gaps during the Age of Republic. The series followed a pre-Darth Vader Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and introduced new characters like the popular Ahsoka Tano.
The Clone Wars was canceled in 2013, but last year Disney and Lucasfilm announced a new season was in development for the Disney+ streaming service. Filoni will return for the series and he promised at Comic-Con 2018 that the new season will continue the storylines that were left off when the show ended.
New Muppets Series Announced for Disney+
The Muppets are getting an unscripted short-form series on Disney+ called Muppets Now.
None other than Kermit the Frog himself made the announcement at the Disney+ presentation at D23 Expo on Friday.
“The Muppets are creating some incredible new shorts.” Kermit said. “They’re gonna be wild and funny and feature some new friends like…" Which is when Joe from Legal appeared onstage.
Kermit then joked that Joe from Legal says no news about celebrity guests, since this is a teaser. “Seriously, that would make this a sneak peek, and you’re not authorized to offer a peek, sneak or otherwise.”
Kermit and Joe from Legal argued onstage about what Kermit is allowed to say, in order to make this preview a teaser and not a behind-the-scenes look or a featurette.
Loki Will Take Character to an Entirely New Part of the MCU
Marvel's Loki is " taking Loki to an entirely new part of the MCU," it was announced during the Disney+' presentation at Friday's D23 Expo.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige announced the show's head writer Michael Waldron and director Kate Herron to the crowd of fans. "These are the people who make the shows," Feige praised.
"We’re taking Loki to an entirely new part of the MCU," Herron promised, adding that they can’t wait to spend six hours telling more of his story.
Waldron said Loki will "explore the questions we all have: where did Loki go after he picked up the Tesseract? Could Loki ever make a friend? And will the sun ever shine on him again?"
“This is a remarkably ambitious show we’re making,” Feige proclaimed.
Marvel Announces She-Hulk Series For Disney+
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced three new Marvel shows for Disney+ including She-Hulk. This is the third new Marvel show scheduled for Disney+ alongside Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight.
She-Hulk is the alter-ego of Jennifer Walters, a lawyer and Bruce Banner's cousin who transforms into She-Hulk after receiving a blood transfusion from Banner. Unlike Bruce Banner's Hulk, She-Hulk can control her emotions, but is almost permanently in her She-Hulk persona.
WandaVision Adds Kat Dennings, Kathryn Hahn to Disney+ Series Cast
New cast members were announced for the upcoming Disney+ series, WandaVision, at D23 Expo Friday evening.
Marvel Studios Head, Kevin Feige, announced Kat Dennings will be reprising her role as Darcy Lewis in the series.
"It’s remarkable to have you in this," Feige said on stage.
Randall Park will also be reprising his role as Jimmy Woo from Ant Man and The Wasp, and Kathryn Hahn is cast as a nosy neighbor.
"I’m sure you’re getting a more clear idea of what the show is," Feige joked.
"We’re so excited to start shooting, this is going to be so wacky and fun," Feige said. "As the scripts keep rolling in, it’s so funny and it just ends up being this huge epic. The writing is so extraordinary."
Marvel Announces Moon Knight Series on Disney+
Marvel Studios just announced another new addition to the Disney+ roster. Supernatural avenger Moon Knight will be getting his own series.
No release date or cast have been revealed yet, but Marvel did reveal a logo for the series:
The series will focus on mercenary Marc Spector, who's left for dead in the Egyptian desert and saved by the moon god Khonshu. Even as Marc returns home and becomes a costumed crime-fighter, the series will explore whether he's truly empowered by Khonshu or simply insane.
Falcon and The Winter Soldier: Wyatt Russell Joins Cast as John Walker
At D23, Marvel Studios executive producer Kevin Feige just announced two more stars joining the Disney+ series Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Emily VanCamp returns as Sharon Carter and newcomer Wyatt Russell will be joining the MCU as John Walker aka U.S. Patriot.
Feige introduced the two actors on stage at D23 today along with stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, who will be reprising their roles as Falcon and Winter Soldier respectively. Sharon Carter, who is Peggy Carter's niece, featured prominently in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and briefly showed up in Captain America: Civil War.
Russell is the newest addition to the series, and will be playing Walker, a government-sanctioned replacement for Captain America who has a complicated relationship with Steve Rogers' legacy. It's unclear how Walker will appear in the Falcon and The Winter Soldier series, and whether he will be a hero or villain.
Disney’s Avatar Exhibit Takes You Back to Pandora
At the D23 Expo in Anaheim, James Cameron's imaginative world of Pandora gets a fascinating exhibit, called "Inside the World of Avatar."
Per Disney, the exhibit includes a "robust gallery of pre-production models, costumes, screen-used props, and all manner of artifacts and materials used both in the film and in the creation of Pandora – The World of Avatar land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida."
